[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 663776] Re: [dash] Search field in Unity can not support iBus

2011-09-14 Thread Koichi Akabe
Hello, Mitsuya

I tried it on ibus-anthy, ibus-skk and ibus-mozc with your patch.
It works fine! Pre-edit texts are shown now.

It can't show the background for selecting segments.
But I think it is not a critical problem because we will not type long texts.
Step to repro (for mozc or anthy on Japanese environment)
1. type "gaikannnosettei"
2. it shows "がいかんのせってい"
3. press [space]
4. then, it will be converted to "外観の設定"
5. if you want to convert it to "概観の設定" or "外環の設定" or ..., it is difficult
because you can't find selected segment.

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 792636] Re: [FFE] [UIFE] [Regression] Power section no longer allows configuration of "when the lid is closed" action in Oneiric

2011-09-14 Thread Luca Ferretti
A little note: all power related settings in GNOME weren't "removed" from
GConf, but "moved" from GConf to GSettins/Dconf.
This means you have to install and run dconf-editor instead gconf-editor in
order to have a direct and full control.

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 663776] Re: [dash] Search field in Unity can not support iBus

2011-09-14 Thread Mitsuya Shibata
As othres says, it seems that current unity does not render pre-edit
text.

I create patch to re-render text on pre-edit text changed.
https://code.launchpad.net/~cosmos-door/unity/fix-preedit-663776

This patch is working correctly in my environment (Japanese with ibus-anthy).
But I didn't test other environment (Chinese/Korean, and
ibus-pinyin/ibus-skk...).

If you can build unity from source, please try it.

Since 2009-05-11 the source/ooo-build/po/ooo-build.pot file fails to import

"PO file: duplicate msgid ending on line 1167"

Opening this file in a text editor reveals that at lines 106 and 1168
the same msgid ("Formula") is used without msgctxt comments being

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 428315] Re: [karmic] translations without templates

  [karmic] translations without templates

Status in Ubuntu Translations:
  Won't Fix
Status in “openoffice.org” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: openoffice.org

  in the translation tarball from

https://launchpadlibrarian.net/31330925/openoffice.org_3.1.1-1ubuntu2_i386_translations.tar.gz
  there is the directory
source/debian/l10n/po/reportdesign/registry/data/org/openoffice/ which contains
.po files and the subdirectories Office/ and TypeDetection/ with additional .po
files, but no .pot templates.
  There is also the directory
source/debian/l10n/po/reportbuilder/registry/data/org/openoffice/ which
contains additional .po files and the .pot templates.

This suggests to me that 'reportdesign' has been renamed to
'reportbuilder', but the translation files have not been moved over to
their new location. Also the contents of the .po files in those two
  locations match.

Conclusion: the files and subdirectories in
  source/debian/l10n/po/reportdesign/registry/data/org/openoffice/ need
  to be moved over to
  source/debian/l10n/po/reportbuilder/registry/data/org/openoffice/.

Otherwise they won't get imported into Rosetta.

Hi. I realized that the "Examples" icon on the desktop when running
live-CD depended on having the translations inside package when the
language packs haven't yet been installed. example-content 38 removed
the few PO files that were included. Since the "Install Ubuntu 9.10"
above it is correctly translated, it would be a little more coherent
to have also Examples translated (although eg. the menus anyway are
  not translated).

The solution for this would be to export all translations from
  https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/example-
content/+pots/example-content and include them into source package.
The translations are less than kilobyte each. This exception is done
also eg. for xdg-user-dirs, the ubiquity icon etc.

  Currently the "{0} ({1}) - Disabled" string at e.g.

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/gwibber/+pots/gwibber/ca/+translate?batch=10&show=all&search=disabled
has no translator comment and translators must resort to going to the
source code or asking someone else to find out what {0} and {1} mean
to properly translate the message or reorder the arguments.

This is not in the usual translation workflow, since most translators
  are not familiar with coding.

It would be good to have a translator comment to indicate what the
string means, an explanation of what each argument is, or use Python
  named arguments.

Usually in plain Python adding a translator comment is just a matter
of writing a comment on the line immediately preceeding the string
marked for translation in the code, I'm not sure how this is handled
  in mako templates.

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 849847] [NEW] Cleaning up gnome/ubuntu help templates

2011-09-14 Thread Gabor Kelemen
Public bug reported:

In Oneiric, we have two sources of help:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/+source/ubuntu-docs - the
Ubuntu specific help, this is in good shape, except that it is set to export
translations to langpacks, this has to be disabled.
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/+source/gnome-user-docs - the
upstream Gnome help

The latter has now only one directory with help files, gnome-help:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/oneiric/gnome-user-docs/oneiric/files

so the old user-guide template can be deactivated.

Another question: is there any change left in this package compared to the
upstream version? Old Gnome2 docs contained some changes, and in Natty, this
template contained a lot of changes, but those were moved for Oneiric to the
ubuntu-help package, AFAIK.
So, maybe we could resort to translating only the ubuntu-help package, and ship
the gnome-help with upstream translations, which means this template should be
deactivated as well.

** Affects: ubuntu-translations
 Importance: Medium
 Status: Triaged

Re: [Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] Important bugs for Oneiric

Hello!

Thanks for the list, Gabor!

Do we somehow divide this bugs and then ping the developers to make sure
they are not forgotten?

regards

Andrej

[Ubuntu-translations-coordinators] [Bug 848700] Re: need translated slideshow image

2011-09-14 Thread Milo Casagrande
@Dylan:
Maybe we can make something for this specification:

https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/desktop-o-cd-localization

and provide easy instructions to include localized screenshots on the
community build localized ISO images, and how to rebuild the slideshow
(or whatever it needs to be done).

What do you think? Will it be possible?

Bug description:
By contrubuting from all over the world, Ubuntu can show installing message
translated with many languages.
But there's no way to upload localized Ubuntu screenshot.
As a result, every Ubuntu users watch language of strings and images mismatch.
So, I suggest to make a system for localizing ubiquity slideshow images.
