Hi, I'm testing Ubuntu 9.10 Release candidate, and I see that the slideshow in installer appears in English I can confirm this for Asturian, Catalan and Spanish languages. Re: The latest message after installation - where can I translate it?
Hi to all When I need to find or correct a string, I download the language pack at: https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+language-packs After that, I uncompress the package, and search the desired string with the command: find . -type f | xargs grep 'the_string_you_want' Sometimes is very useful to find quickly untranslated strings. The only problem is that downloading the package you can find a lot of *.po files, but not all of them. i.e: for en_GB language, the folder contains 1116 files, and at least karmic translations are 1638 files. So you can't find 522 files on it. debian-installer or bootloader are two of them... It would be great if exists the possibility of download the whole package. Then you would find all strings you need to translate. ¿It's possible to do that? (Maybe is a better way to do it, but i didn't know it) El llu, 05-10-2009 a les 11:47 +0200, Mikel Pascual escribió: oh, you're right. Hi Mark, you are welcome to Ubuntu Translators. I've seen that our groups have the same number of contributors (38), so I realise how important is what you are going to do... The group's day to day running will be done by me, but I am under the authority of Christopher Swift (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Chris ), who is the Welsh Translation Team Manager, as well as the Ubuntu Cymru (Wales) LoCo Administrator. I can also speak French, and have been learning Spanish, although I have stopped learning Spanish now until after my degree, I also have relatives who speak Greek, so I am a true linguist. My experience in translation is varied, having recently started work on translating a PC Game into Welsh, and having worked on the Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe translations I am used to the various systems that are used in Translations, albeit the fact that I'm new to Rosetta, but I am a fast learner and will soon know my way around the system. I feel that Welsh has become a neglected language in ICT and computing, and I hope that with my help and the work my team will be working on that things will change. That's enough talk from me for now, If you require any further information about me then please look at my Ubuntu Wiki Page (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MarkJones ) or my Launchpad Page (https://launchpad.net/~mark-welshdragon). Hi Marcos, I think there's a mistake. Re: request for release notes translations
Oryginal Message-: Hi folks, The Ubuntu 9.04 release candidate is coming up tomorrow, and efforts are underway to flesh out the release notes so that our early adopters get useful information when clicking that link from within the live CD installer. And a part of that is that we would like to have the release notes translated as widely as possible. Draft release notes for Ubuntu 9.04 are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/JauntyJackalope/ReleaseNotes. While these are not yet final, I expect that all the issues documented there will be included in the final release notes. Please use https://wiki.ubuntu.com/JauntyJackalope/ReleaseNotes/langcode for your translations, and coordinate with Matthew Nuzum matthew.nu...@canonical.com (cc:ed), when you are ready to have these translations linked from the Ubuntu website. Right now all content is static and is generated by some simple bash scripts. The only manual task is exporting Rosetta translations and extracting them. I will work at improving the rosetta import and I hope that for Jaunty translation cycle, we can have more frequent updates for the rendered XML and HTML files. In this way we can have a good feedback for the translations work of ubuntu-docs in rosetta and I hope we can improve the translation quality. I'm happy to receive comments and suggestions.
