I only work on translations when trying to fix compile time errors or
warnings for ubuntu-docs or serverguide
The constant Launchpad timeout errors, drive me crazy, and waste a lot of
time.
I do not get timeout errors (or at least they are rare) when doing other
stuff in launchpad.

I took a look at those templates.

The kdesudo one, does not have anything in the queue, I guess it was
already taken care of.
These are the import queues for the other two:

Both of them have two different template names in the queue, and both
do not have a translation domain set (the translation domain needs to
be set correctly since it is the name that will be used to lookup
translations).

Do you have an idea of the translation domain names for those two packages?
I can easily set kde-config-whoopsie and kubuntu-driver-manager
respectively as domain names, but I don't know if they are correct.

Hi,

Can anyone say what's up with the translation import queue? The queue
for trusty [1] a jolly three hundred thousand Needs review
translations, a mix of user uploads and automatic uploads.

I took a look, but it is hard to make sense of that pile of PO files.
I approved and fixed some POT files (that at least I'm sure about),
but others, have not even idea what template they should be or where
they should go.

Also, the continuous Launchpad time out errors do not make life easy.
Do you have special cases that should be sped up? If so, please try to
provide a direct lik, there are too many to go through.

What might help is that if you know about a package that does not have
a template set (Launchpad should sasy something like No import target
selected), and you know for sure which template/target is, forward
that information as well.

Import queue

Hi,

It seems that there is no way to circumvent it (even for developers and  
maintainers).


On the other hand, it takes not more than 24 hours for the translation to  
be imported. Three years ago you could wait for 3 days or a week for the  
import.

Translations import queue stopped (again)

Hi all,

Translation import queue will not be processing any entries until at
least Monday evening (which is the earliest time we can get changes into
Launchpad production machines).

What happened?

Last night a poimport script caused a problem in Launchpad database and
caused overall system problems.  Basically, all of Launchpad was
affected.

Nothing so far indicates that it is a problem with the script itself,
but it seems to have pushed our postgres instance over the edge by
making it eat all the disk space on database server.  To preserve other
services, poimport script has been stopped until we come up with
adequate workaround.

I know this is unfortunate and may make it impossible for you to do your
work, but in order to avoid causing problems for everybody else (along
with causing them for you), the script will stay disabled over the
weekend.

What will we do about it?

On Monday, we'll roll out a slower version of the script out which
excludes the query which causes postgres to misbehave, but that will
mean that imports will go noticably slower.  We will actively work on
finding a solution to the problem after we get at least the basic
imports back up and running.

I thoroughly apologize for the reduced service quality.

Gutsy translation delays


When Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) is released, some packages may not have the
most recent translations. This only affects translations made in
external tools that are then imported into Launchpad.

The delay is caused by a temporary lack of capacity in Launchpad's
translations importer. We are working to clear the queue and to ensure
that Launchpad has additional capacity to prevent this from happening
again.

Packages affected by the import delay will ship with the translated
strings that are in Launchpad at the time of Ubuntu 7.10's release.

We plan to ship an interim language pack update shortly after Ubuntu
7.10's release. This and the the first scheduled language pack update
will bring all translations up to date.

You can ensure your translations are in the initial Ubuntu 7.10 release
by using Launchpad's web translations interface. Strings submitted this
way are available immediately.

To check the status of your translations in the import queue, visit:

OpenOffice.org translations in Hardy Heron

the OpenOffice.org project. During the Hardy Heron cycle we plan to add

This will enable Ubuntu to use OpenOffice.org translations made by the
Ubuntu community in Launchpad. Following thorough testing during the
Hardy development cycle, we plan to roll Launchpad-originated

so, Ubuntu will use Openoffice translation made in Launchpad?

I may be wrong, but I think that I saw ooo.org
 was testing some web-interface for translations, and so every
translation would be in the same site.
In that case, Ubuntu would import the translations from there, isn't it?
(like it happens with gnome, kde, etc.)

pd: sorry for beeing a bit insistent, but I'm very concerned about
Openoffice in my language. I keep on trying telling the official translator
to make the files available for importing to Ubuntu, but my faith's
dissapearing week by week.

I also noticed the same, Evolution being imported for about two whole
days. Now there's new stuff before it (probably from Needs review
-queue), and the Evolution is still there... if it's again going to take
several days handling Evolution when it gets there, we really have hard
time seeing the whole queue imported in time for the string freeze.
