Indeed, well said, Simos.

The current SDK preview components (the sources of which are available
when you install the packages) are already set up for translations, but
at this point, I'd recommend waiting for late February or perhaps later,
as we don't have any translations infrastructure set up in Launchpad yet.

For those interested in more tech details, the SDK components use
gettext for translation in QML, through the i18n.tr() family of
functions, similar to _() in Python or in C.

Stay tuned for more updates, we'll be able to translate the phone in due
time! :-)

Cheers,
David.

Re: Ubuntu for phones

2013-01-08 Thread Simos Xenitellis
To be able to contribute to the project, we need access to the
repositories of Ubuntu Phone.
I searched at Launchpad but I could not find any relevant. There is an
"Ubuntu Phone" team at Launchpad, but it is not used for the current
Ubuntu Phone project.
I believe that the repositories will appear as soon as the first
images for the Nexus appear, around February 2013.

Having said that, Ubuntu Phone is currently in fast development, and
it is not in string freeze shape for us to translate.
However, once the source packages are available, it's only up to us to
get it translated.
