Human remains as the default theme, but there is a new theme in
Intrepid - DarkRoom (was NewHuman).

Although the new theme is very nice, there are some issues[1] with it
which is why it's not the default (yet).

[ubuntu-uk] Intrepid Themes

2008-10-20 Thread Chris Rowson
Hi there,

Does anyone know what's going on with the look of Intrepid? I did think that
it was supposed to come with a new theme, but from what I've seen so far it
seems to be rather similar to Hardy. At one point there was a bizarre
slightly unreadable dark theme but that seems to have disappeared...

Any info anyone?

Hi Chaps,

Just another reminder about *THE* event to be at this year. It's
running from this Thursday until Saturday. This is basically an event
where we have a chance to show of Linux, and Ubuntu. It is also a great
chance to meet other like minded people. It didn't happen last year,
but the year before was a great success[0]. It would be really good to
make this one even better. The venue is shared with the Mac Expo, so
it's a fantastic opportunity to show off Ubuntu to non-linux users, who
would unlikely come to a dedicated Linux expo.

Canonical have today confirmed that they will be there, and help us (the
LoCo), where possible.

So I'm asking for more volunteers to help man the stand, or if you don't
fancy doing that just come along to show your support for Linux and
Ubuntu in general (make sure you wear your coveted Ubuntu geekware! :) ).

If you want to help out, add your name to the wiki page [1]. I would
also think it would be a good idea if you apply for tickets[2] aswell,
tickets are free if pre-booked (£12 on the door).

Hi Sean,

The actual event at Olympia is split between Mac expo and Linux expo.
The Linux expo is then further split between commercial and
organisations (.org village [0]), normally I would expect us to be in
the .org village - however I did speak with Canonical's Marketting
director - and we may well end up sharing Canonical's stand if it is
more favourable for us.

I'll be travelling from Devon, probably by train - so if you want to
travel together, give me a nod.

[ubuntu-uk] OpenOffice 3.0 repositories for Hardy

2008-10-20 Thread Rob Beard
Hi folks,

As OpenOffice.org has been released, I wondered if anyone knew of any
repositories where it can be downloaded from?

I'd rather use a repository (which I would presume would offer updates
occasionally) than just install the .deb packages off the OpenOffice web
site manually.

I just wondered if anyone knew of a good repository?

Does anyone know too if OpenOffice 3.0 will be included in Intrepid when
it's released?

Ta,
