If all goes to plan, we'll all head off for a geeknic in a nice green bit nearby afterwards, and maybe other bits and bobs too depending who feels like what. I've thrown up a doodle poll at http://doodle.com/53dpqtd6qgbvdpmp so mark _all_ of the days your free and we'll go on the most popular! Importantly, the exhibition is free... but you'll have to make your own travel arrangements. If anybody feels like bringing food and whatnot for the geeknic, that would be excellent! I'll try and make some cakes :) Hopefully see you all there! Just a quick bump as I'll be closing the doodle poll tonight! [ubuntu-uk] unity gimp
Just when I thought I'd got used to unity I can probably live with it I tried using the gimp. Previously with this I have the main window maximised set up toolbox layers as normal windows hidden behind the main one. In gnome2 it's easy to get at these other two windows from the bottom panel. However in unity this option obviously isn't there. Clicking on the gimp icon on the launcher does get the option to choose which of the 3 open windows you want so all is not lost but it does seem a lot of clicks and messing! Anyone else find this annoying? Any solutions? Perhaps I'll get used to this as well! No, alt+tab does not allow navigation between the gimp's application windows. It only makes available the main window (for me in Unity-2D at least). [ubuntu-uk] Frankenstein Unity
I am beginning to wonder if Unity is the Frankenstein character of Ubuntu. It's alive they shouted - but did 'they' consider the humanity of it all? ;) Cheers, SuprEngr. ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/ -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/

Re: [ubuntu-uk] unity gimp
How about a work-around, don't run Unity so don't know if possible and can't test. Can you attach a script to a button on the Unity bar? If so, install xdotool and put this script on the bar: #!/bin/bash xdotool search --class gimp windowactivate Definitely works from a terminal though and from compiz, but not from a run box (gmrun) - strange. Cheers Steve PS - Or does Unity use the gnome hotkey program??? -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/
