Replace the Print command with kprinter (you might want to copy-and-paste the original to a safe place in case this all goes wrong. I changed the Print Command to kprinter and kept the quotes. Should I have done? Firefox does print now, but the dialogue box is very much curtailed and there would be no way to put the Print Command back in. The Print Command box is no longer displayed. I have looked in the package management program, but can find no reference to Kprinter, either installed or to install. Is it part of the KDE system? The next time you print, you should get the KDE print dialog, which gives you a lot more flexibility and control than Firefox's. Olly Thanks for help. I cannot print from Firefox to my postscript printers. I always get a message saying that the printer will not print on that size of paper, or words to that effect. Sounds like Firefox might be defaulting to spit US Letter paper. The Americans have difficulty grasping the concept that the standard paper size *for the rest of the world* is different from their own deviant variant, and Firefox doesn't seem too good at picking up the necessary clues from elsewhere in the OS.. ;-/ Didn't you realise that the US in the only place on planet!! Try: File/Print.. - [Printer name]-Properties and see if you need to change paper size from US Letter to A4. Been there, done that, just waiting for the T-shirt. That was my first port of call as I am already aware of that US idiots-in-crass-y. I think it must be a virus which affects almost all programs and printer drivers. I even tried setting to A3 for one of the printers, which prints that size, but I still get the same message. I have also re-installed Firefox, but that made no difference either. This is the only program which will not print, and I don't know where to kick. I seem to recall that Firefox isn't very good at making this a 'sticky' selection, and you may have to re-select it every time you start Firefox. :-( Par for the course. Yes, when printing from many packages, it is very difficult to make A4 the default. When using Ovation Pro, I get a warning if the output is being sent to US Letter or A4 when the page size is A3. I am sure that I have had printer output from other programs when the page size was A4 and the printer setting was for US Letter, but Firefox just simply will not print. Many thanks for your help with this problem; if you, or anyone else can think of something which I can do, it will be very much appreciated. -- | David M,__| replyto email valid 365 days | en, fr, (de) | | Edinburgh, Scotland. | but on-list replies preferred | | *Trim quoted text interleave reply comments: it's MUCH easier to read* *Filter triggers: No-context, excess-quoting, slug-trails, zero-content* Thanks for these instructions. [ubuntu-uk] Firefox no print
Hi, Can anyone help with this. I cannot print from Firefox to my postscript printers. I always get a message saying that the printer will not print on that size of paper, or words to that effect. This is of course nonsense as an A4 printer should be able print A4. I have no trouble printing from Mozilla or Opera or Konqueror or Galeon. I installed the other browsers to check that they all printed OK. I am using Firefox 1.5.0.7 on Ubuntu 6.06. What is wrong with my setup? How can I investigate this problem? All help gratefully received. Bernard Hill -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.kubuntu.org/UKTeam/
