Re: [ubuntu-uk] Wiki for shortcut keys?

Keyboard shortcuts seemed to have been broken since somewhere around
9.04 - there were various bug reports but it's only just got fixed . . .

Great it works!

I'm not sure why but before when I tried it (before I reinstalled Ubuntu
the other week) it didn't work. Might have just been me. I'm not sure
if enabling extended keys or whatever the option was has made any
difference.

I'm a happy bunny now. (Yes I'm easily pleased).

Ass a keyboard shortcut, the command you want to execute is
gnome-screensaver-command --lock

Google + ubuntu + keyboard + shortcuts =
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/KeyboardShortcuts

If it's not comprehensive then you can edit it, it's a wiki after all.

Cheers,

I agree, I found the Windows + E by accident when I was connected into a
Windows machine via Logmein but I didn't know about Windows + A.

Ctrl Alt L also locked the screen (although I sometimes wish I could
tweak it to Windows + L).

I think this is a great idea. Until I read your email I had no idea
about those shortcut keys!

Thanks a lot :)

[ubuntu-uk] Wiki for shortcut keys?

2010-05-13 Thread Markie
Hi Folks,

Do we have a wiki to point people to to show some of the special effects
shortcut keys? The help files as installed in 10.04 does mention some but
not others, for example:

"windows" (super) key + a = shows all windows
"windows" (super) key + e = shows all desktops

Its nice to show new users some of these special effects, generally most PCs
have decent enough spec nowdays to handle the "extra" visual effects as
standard in the appearance settings. I know the visual effects are by far
not the most important feature in ubuntu but it some of these visual
shortcuts do actually make desktop navigation and window management better.

Thanks

Markie
