Does anyone know if i can install Linux Mint ( from a usb drive) ?
All i have to do is set the periperal as first boot right?

You can use unetbootin (which is cross platform) to copy an iso to a
USB stick and make it all nicely bootable. So long as your computer
supports booting from USB then you're set.

Out of interest how many people here prefer mint over the normal ubuntu
 flavour?

Not I.

Al.

If you already have a bootable USB stick and want to install to the
hard disk, it will depend on the distro on the stick. Ubuntu Live
versions have the Install icon on the desktop. I've never used Mint,
but maybe it has the same icon. If it doesn't, installing to the hard
disk might be complicated...

You can't just copy an iso to the USB stick. It needs to be unpacked
in a certain way, hence me suggesting you use unetbootin.

I tried it last year and didn't like it at all, it lasted for about
1/2hr on my machine.

If you have enough RAM (about 1GB or more) you can install distros
insode a Virtual Machine to test and play with which can be a good way
to experiment.

VirtualBox is in the Ubuntu Repos and is easy to use for this purpose.

2009-06-22 Thread Sean Miller
I have to say that I didn't like Mint at all... took me ages to
reconfigure it so that it reverted to, effectively, a default Ubuntu.

In terms of Linux I think I'm a Ubuntu man through and through - not
really sure what Mint is trying to do but it's not my thing I'm
afraid.
