Actually, the old default was still there and I was able to replace it while it was still upgrading my system. So, not really a problem, just annoying! On the plus side, I have noticed that the fonts are looking much better on my LCD monitor (and I thought they looked fine before). -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.org/UKTeam/

There's not really any way to know whether a user likes the current default, so it upgrades that for everyone. However it does remove the old default wallpaper, which isn't ideal. If you like a particular default one, then you can copy the file and choose the copied version as your wallpaper, and then that should be preserved for the next upgrade. I always use the default and every upgrade it always replaces it with the new default wallpaper, which sort of makes sense, but is highly annoying nonetheless. I've not tried it with a customised wallpaper I'm afraid. -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.org/UKTeam/

We're you using the default wallpaper before upgrading, or does it force you to use the new default whatever you are using? While you are exactly right, and the bandwidth you could get to ubuntu machines slowed down release work, the point is moot now, as it's officially released. Enjoy Hardy everyone.
