The interface is very different to many CAD packages, but is worth a look. Mj -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/

I recently used it for design and draw for a large iron gate - approximately 2 metres high and also 2 wide, made from 40 mm square tube and 26mm square bar. I used oo draw with a 1/16the scale drawing and the resolution was at least 0.1mm for the dimensions. It is to my own design, to suit the house. I created a manufacturing drawing - scaled - on A4 sheet :-) with all dimensions and comments. It has been made up and fitted, and is now gracing my house. -- alan cocks Kubuntu user#10391 Linux user #360648 -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/

Hello, PS> This term often refers to 2D technical drawing > programs such as AutoCAD etc. It can also refer to > electronics design programs or 3D mechanical design > programs. It's years since I touched CAD stuff, but istr that AutoSketch was AutoDesk's 2D drafting program and AutoCAD was 3D. Perhaps AutoCAD started out more like AutoSketch though. - Andy Ball -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/

I understand CAD to mean Computer Aided Design. This term often refers to 2D technical drawing programs such as AutoCAD etc. It can also refer to electronics design programs or 3D mechanical design programs. >From your question, it seems you have a specific program in mind when you say CAD. Qcad uses DXF file format as its default format. Most 2D CAD packages can read and write DXF files, in my experience. -- Philip Stubbs -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/
