I followed the info on your link and wow! That *was* a pleasant surprise to hear the desktop sound again, thank you. What had gone missing (& still is] though is the bongos on arrival at the login screen. So still nowt to wiggle me bum at ;( Cheers, Bill B. There is a special startup application to play the login sound. However, some startup applications are hidden. This is how to unhide them: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ShowHiddenStartupApplications Then you can look and see if the entry is there, but disabled: http://www.liberiangeek.net/2012/05/enable-gnome-login-sound-in-ubuntu-12-04-precise-pangolin/ -- Liam Proven • Profile: http://lproven.livejournal.com/profile Email: lpro...@cix.co.uk • GMail/G+/Twitter/Flickr/Facebook: lproven MSN: lpro...@hotmail.com • Skype/AIM/Yahoo/LinkedIn: liamproven Tel: +44 20-8685-0498 • Cell: +44 7939-087884 -- ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-uk https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/
