[Ubuntu-US-CA] Remainder: SF Utopic Release Party RSVP + Updated Directions

2014-10-19 Thread James Ouyang
Hi everyone!

Just wanted to give a remainder that the Ubuntu California team is planning
on having a release party for Utopic Unicorn (14.10) at the Mozilla offices
in San Francisco this coming Thursday (Oct 23).

Please RSVP on the event page:
http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/ubuntu-california/2912-san-francisco-utopic-release-party/

I've already updated the event page but we do have slightly revised
directions for the venue:

Directions: Street address is 2 Harrison Street but don't go there;
instead, enter the ground floor lobby off of Embarcadero (ever so slightly
north of Harrison). Sign in at the front desk.

Hope to see everyone soon,

James

2014-01-09 Thread James Ouyang
Hi all,

I have gone ahead and created a CIVS poll for the election. Everyone in the
ubuntu-california Launchpad group with a public (i.e. visible when logged
in) email address should have received a ballot. If for some reason you did
not receive a ballot or want it resent, please contact me off-list.

I intend to close the poll on the 13th and be able to promptly announce the
winners of (this|last) year's election.

 Hello fellow constituents,

The leadership election for our LoCo is starting soon. Here is an
 overview of the process:

Constituency: As defined in Part B of our leadership document[0],
membership is defined as being a member of the 'Ubuntu California'
Launchpad group[1]. If you are a member, you are eligible to vote in this
 upcoming election.

Nominations: Please add your nominations on the wiki page[2] for this
election. The nomination period is now open and will close on December 25
at 5p. Afterwards, I will attempt to individually contact each nominee to
confirm that they wish to stand for election.

Voting: Once nominations have been collected, I will create a CIVS[3]
poll. Your ballot will be emailed to the public email address associated
with your Launchpad account. Tentatively, assuming the nomination process
goes smoothly, I plan to open the poll on December 26 and close it by New
 Year's Day.

In summary: Add your leadership nominations on the wiki page by Christmas
Day. No other action is needed at this time.

Please contact me, on-list or off-list, if you have any questions or
 concerns.

 Hi everyone,

Every year we poll the community to elect a new trio of leaders, it's
 that time of year again!

We need a volunteer (or more) who is able to coordinate this election.

 Tasks involved:

 1. Do a call for leadership nominations (here on the mailing list)
 2. Collect nominations
 3. Set up CIVS[0] poll for nominees and send out to members
 4. Close poll and announce winners

I'm happy to help anyone through this process (don't worry if you
don't know what to write or have never heard of CIVS!). I just can't
do it myself because I intend to run again.

Add me to your ubuntu-news-poke-people list please. :)

Definitely wouldn't be able to make it this Wednesday. However, due
to a confluence of fortunate circumstances, I might come to the
Mountain View one next week. Who are the regulars there? What's the
parking situation at this Red Rock Coffee?
