Re: [Ubuntu Oregon] OSCON: good news and bad news

2015-06-03 Thread Benjamin Kerensa
In all fairness unless you can find a full roster of volunteers to booth it
the whole time I might
suggest passing it up so they can give it to another org. They reserve the
right to not give
booths to orgs that are not at their booth the whole time.

Just my two cents anyways... There is a huge waiting list of orgs that have
volunteers
and would take it.

Regarding your familiarity, it does kind of help. People ask questions

Re: [Ubuntu Oregon] OSCON: good news and bad news

2015-06-03 Thread Billy Brawner
I'd love to help but I've only been using Ubuntu for a few months and at
the time of OSCON I'll have barely been in Oregon for a week or two, so I'm
not sure I'll even have a car by that time. I hope you all enjoy yourselves
though!

Any particular time frames work for you?

Regarding your familiarity, it does kind of help. People ask questions
about what it can do. Others will wonder why the LoCo exists. If you think
you can wing it, you should be good to go. :)

I can probably do a shift. I don't feel super connected to the ubuntu
community though. I have been using debian, and or ubuntu for 12 years
though. I have my own PPA and at some point I'll want to get my
packages into the actual distro so I'm at least aware of how things
work.

[Ubuntu Oregon] OSCON: good news and bad news

2015-06-03 Thread Walter Lapchynski
So the good news about OSCON, the massive open source convention in
Portland, is that I have secured us a booth at the community section. The
bad news is that despite my intentions, family matters have prohibited me
from being able to attend. That being said, does anyone want to take over
the responsibility of the booth? I'd be happy to lend my Snappy
Core-equipped Raspberry Pi 2 if someone wants to show that off. Also Nathan
Haines had suggested he might show up and bring the phone and such. At this
point, I think it's unreasonable to expect one person to be there all day,
but perhaps we could go for shifts? Anyone? If I don't hear back relatively
soon, I guess I'll have no choice but to cancel.
