[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 419126] Re: X fails to start up after mesa+git update - gdm loops after logging in
As far as I know, the Radeon HD 3000 is based on the R600 chip, ergo, it requires the R600 microcode to work properly. My question for you is: have you been using this chip with KMS or without. If you have, try issuing nomodeset to kernel at boot just to make sure it is not a problem related to the experimental R600 code in radeon-drm. My GPU is a RS480 (Radeon Xpress 1100), and it worked 100%, but it is based in the R300 microcode, and apparently only R200 - R500 chips are fully supported with xserver-sorg-video-ati. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 422422] [NEW] nvidia-settings puts primary screen on wrong monitor
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nvidia-settings When I connect my Dell XPS M1530 to an external monitor using the VGA port and run nvidia-settings to set it up to be to the right of the laptop screen, it does not matter which screen I set to be the primary screen - nvidia-settings forces the external monitor to be the primary screen (ie gnome-panel appears on this screen). (The relative positioning of the screens is correct, however.) The workaround is to cancel the change and then reapply it - the second time it sets the laptop screen to primary. This happens with the nvidia driver version 185.18.31 and .36 and also the latest beta driver 190.25 in Jaunty (with kernels 2.6.28, 2.6.30, and 2.6.31). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 410267] Re: Pressure sensitive tablet: stylus paints off-cursor in Gimp and Inkscape
I confirm this bug is related to window borders. This bug also occurs in MyPaint with one exception : When in fullscreen mode (by pressing F11) , the screen is just one big drawing area and the tablet works as expected. I wish I had a clue for what to do to analyse the problem further. I could inspect the diffs between Jaunty and Karmic but the origin of the problem still isn't clear. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 350327] Re: vinagre connects but appears that I cannot start anything on remote desktop
I note above that the Importance of this ticket is 'Undecided' and the Assigned To field is empty. From this I must conclude that there is no one working on this issue. It's almost five months old. While it may be related to proprietary drivers, at least two of us are on record as saying that it is independent of the driver, and it has also been tested on Archlinux and does not affect that platform. That would indicate that it is an Ubuntu bug. Is there ANY plan to work on this? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 422780] [NEW] nvidia settings ignored on reboot.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg with karmic the nvidia 185 driver was used but on boot up the screen was in 640x480 and had to be set by nvidia-settings to 1440x900 each time. Apart from the permissions problem (not being able to write to xorg.conf without root permissions) The settings even when written were being ignored. The solution (work around) is to choose preferences - display and answer no in the dialog that appears that says the tool can't work with the graphics card, and i would i like to use the vendors instead. This allows the default resolution to be set and persists across reboots. obviously there are 2 problems here a failure to raise permissions when needed and the over riding of the nvidia-settings with the (gnome ? ones), Even using kdm as a display manager had the same issue. The initial problem was caused by an upgrade from 180 - 185 nvidia driver which failed to install the nvidia driver. which forced me to a console where i used vesa to get a working desktop. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nvidia settings ignored on reboot. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/422780 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 422811] [NEW] Unable to use all 4 performance levels
Public bug reported: Hardware : Acer Extensa 7630G 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 9300M GS (rev a1) Driver: 180.44-0ubuntu1 The powermizer under nvidia-settings shows level 0 to 3. If i start a video with vpdau or start a game it goes from level 0 to level 1 and says Maximum performance under performance mode. http://godmelon.se/dump/powermizer.jpg (Screencap of nvidia-settings under powermizer) nvidia-settings -q GPUPerfModes -t shows : perf=0, nvclock=169, memclock=100 ; perf=1, nvclock=275, memclock=250 ; perf=2, nvclock=500, memclock=400 ; perf=3, nvclock=580, memclock=400 Tried forcing with RegistryDwords PowerMizerEnable=0x1; PerfLevelSrc=0x3322; PowerMizerDefaultAC=0x1 in xorg.conf Now it's always performance level 1 (still says Maximum performance) but never goes to 2 or 3. (even tried to force with nvclock and coolbits but that did not help and maybe has no relevance to this bug?) ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Unable to use all 4 performance levels https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/422811 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 354715] Re: xrandr --scale XxY crashed with SIGSEGV in __libc_start_main()
The problem persists with the new Radeon driver PPA. I strongly suspect that this problem is not driver-specific. xrandr --output VGA-0 --scale 0.5x0.5 works as expected xrandr --scale 0.5x0.5 segfaults. It should report an error message instead of just crashing. -- xrandr --scale XxY crashed with SIGSEGV in __libc_start_main() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/354715 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
