Make sure you have entered to "openchrome" directory.

If it not help, try to do all steps from beginning (don't forget about
"Install needed dependencies" step).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 425992] Re: Screen fades white to black, xorg crashes on boot

2009-10-28 Thread Cullen Lorsung
Touchscreen was simple to get going, but it crashes regardless of
whether its enabled or not. I havent tried anything for a bit, I dont
think the driver has progressed much. I dont kno if this is the right
place to be getting into how to get logs etc, but send me an email or
post something on ubuntu help forums and ill walk you through it (unless
this IS the place for that sort of thing)..I will give .28 a shot and
see how it fares.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 367604] Re: [g33] X does not detect correct LCD resolution through KVM switch

2009-10-28 Thread Brent
Good news. I replaced my older Belkin Omni Cube 4-Port (PS-2) model
F1D094 with a brand new IOGEAR 2 port (USB) model GCS632U and I no
longer have the issue above. Ubuntu 9.04 now can see the LCD panel and
allows compiz to run. The 9.10 Beta Live Disc I referenced above also
works without any issues. Case solved. Spend the $50 and get a new KVM!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 425992] Re: Screen fades white to black, xorg crashes on boot

2009-10-28 Thread Chance Fulton
I had 9.04 installed on an NCR 7402 POS device w/microtouch touch screen
that exhibits the same problem. When I boot Ubuntu 9.10, kernel
2.6.31-14-generic it does the same thing as described above.

Under Ubuntu 9.10, kernel 2.6.28-16-generic it boots correctly, and
looks correct.

However the touch screen never worked, which I believe to be an entirely
different issue.

I am not sure how to get a hold of the crash log for the first kernel since it
crashes before the os loads.

Hoping for a fix to this since I want to run ubuntu instead of XP on
these POS devices at my business.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462973] [NEW] X.Org X server --Nvidia (Nouveau) display driver fails xrandr_cycle test

2009-10-28 Thread Josy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

This is a follow-up of my Bug #460510.

I have attached the file ErrorLogs.tar.gz which contains:
lspci -vvnn
xorg.conf
Xorg.0.log

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
CheckboxCommand: xrandr_cycle
CheckboxData:
Running the xrandr_cycle test predictable fails. When I run the test the
xserver seems to crash and I am back at the Ubuntu login screen.
When loging back in into Ubuntu again and running the test to switch to vt or
switch manually to vt (ctrl-alt-f1), I have sometimes seen a scrambled screen
with mainly beige color. When having a scrambled screen, leaving it with
ctrl-alt-f7 did not work, however surprisingly leaving back to the deskto
worked with ctrl-alt-f9. So far I have not found a way to predicably reproduce
making the switch to vt fail.
CheckboxDescription:
Click Test to cycle through the detected video modes for your system.

Did the screen appear to be working for each mode?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462939] [NEW] Lid close with intel 82852/855GM provoques black screen, loss of control and overeat

2009-10-28 Thread Zenigata17
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Well basicly this bug looks almost like bug #138256 :

When closing the lid and reopening it, the screen remains black and the
laptop is not responding to anything (ctrl alt + Fx, ctrl alt +backspace
or even SysRq are not working) the only way to get out is to power off
the laptop with button.

Tis bug is quite dangerous because the PC is NOT in suspend mode : it
generate a lot of heat, and thus closing the lid and putting the laptop
in a bag may result in dangerous overheat leading irremediable to
hardware failure.

1) #138256 is old (2007) and fix is released, when this is a bug I did not have
under 9.04 and have under 9.10
2) Putting the following in xorg.conf does not help

Section "Device"
 ... ...
 Option "ForceEnablePipeA" "true"
EndSection

Maybe the solution 2 works if there is something else than xorg.conf
where to put this since a few Ubuntu release xorg.conf is minimalistic.

I believe this bug is very severe.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462921] [NEW] OpenGL problems on "Samsung Q25 Ruby" Notebook with i945GM graphics with Ubuntu 9.10

2009-10-28 Thread Mastermolch
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Hello,

I had problems with 3D graphics since the upgrade to ubuntu 8.10 on my
"Samsung Q25 Ruby" Notebook with i945GM. Now using the new Ubuntu 9.10
RC and some problems seem to be fixed. For example, when I run a 3D
application with Ubuntu 8.10, 3/4 of the screen are black/white, this
doesnt happen now. But Celestia is still much slower than before and
than under windows, Stellarium looks a bit strange when I enable compiz.
SuperTux is stuttering a bit. (It was much stranger when I started it
with the onboard sound card enabled unter Ubuntu 9.04, normaly I m using
a PCMCIA card from Creative. It doesnt have any effect now with 9.10
when I switch the card.) Any Flash video, from youtube or somewhere else
is stuttering and it doesnt matter if it is maximized or not. Only
Stellarium seems to be effected by enabled compiz, all other problems
are also happening with disabled compiz.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 432814] Re: Action for middle and right click is reversed since jaunty

2009-10-28 Thread mister_pink
Temporary fix:

on each boot run:

xinput set-int-prop "ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad" "Synaptics Tap Action" 8
0 3 0 0 1 2 3

This is for my eeepc 901. For synaptics touchpads it should be something
like:

xinput set-int-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Synaptics Tap Action"
8 0 3 0 0 1 2 3

Works for me anyway. Not that sure about the second suggestion.

I associate scrolling with the middle mouse button (as on a normal mouse
they are one thing) so two finger scrolling -> two finger click.

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I'm trying to install the planner and Qcad applications pkgs., downloaded ok,
but when installing on usb gives this error:
Error messaging is :

I have a start up usb flash disk of 4G with Ubuntu 8.10, I have done this
before I don't know why this time is giving me errors.
Also, as a comment, I have seen that ubuntus 8.10 have more problems mounting
local HD's than 8.04 version, based on forum discussions, windows has to be
closed properly in order to mount hd in ubuntus. Some times helps sometimes not.
Any ideas?
Anyway, thanks for any help you can provide for this error. I'll keep trying.

2009-10-28 Thread subchee
It sounds good :)
I messed up my Karmic with fglrx and after I installed X11R7.5 from PPA and
then reinstalled the xserver-xorg-video-ati.. so now everything is mixed.
I'll try to compile a kernel, but first I need to read more about KMS..

Thanks for the info

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 427245] Re: Textcolor of window title not customizable

2009-10-28 Thread Michael Heath
I went ahead and marked this as Invalid. The submitter's question is in
relation to a theme that I put together for 9.04's Ubuntu Netbook Remix.
It was never designed to be compatible in any way with the window-
picker-applet in 9.10. Sorry for the hassle and silly report; I went
ahead and posted on the theme's site that this is NOT supposed to work
with 9.10.

2009-10-28 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Actually, bug #429295 was pointed out to me. Simply using:
Option "RenderAccel" "off"

works and I don't have to use EXA to prevent lockups. I had in my notes
that I've needed this on my Radeon 7500 for quite some time. Couldn't we
detect the card and do this automatically so new installs can benefit?

2009-10-28 Thread Tormod Volden
The word from the upstream developers is that fixing this on non-KMS is
just too difficult. There are too many variations between OEM boards
even with the same chipset. They concentrate all efforts on getting this
fixed properly in KMS. Dave Airlie recently posted a patch which made
resume work on his RC410 laptop. This patch might end up in a kernel
soon. If any of you are into building your own kernels, please try the
patch (using KMS of course).

2009-10-28 Thread Jamie Strandboge
I can say that the problem is even more severe for me. I get hard locks
if I don't use EXA on my T42 with a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10. The
live cd and install worked fine, then I logged in, connected to my wifi,
enabled encrypted swap and rebooted. I could get to gdm, but then after
authenticating the computer would hard lock. Using EXA allowed my to
login successfully and everything seems to be working ok.

external mouse. If I suspend the computer when a USB mouse is connected,
and resume with the mouse disconnected, the trackpad cursor becomes very
slow and I also loose trackpad scrolling. A restart of the X server only
doesn't resolve the problem, only a full reboot. If I resume with the
mouse connected and then disconnect the mouse afterwards, things keep
working normally.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462428] [NEW] Xorg doesnt load after install Nvidia 9300M GS

2009-10-28 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I installed Karmic AMD64 RC on a 4GB USB pendrive.
The LiveCD booted Xorg with no problem, but after install on the pendrive
during the boot process the kernel doesn't load nvidia driver and in the
Xorg.log is the following error (EE) open /dev/fb0: No such file or directory
No GDM, only the wokring (loading) mouse cursor for a second and then the X
crashes, back to tty and then back X for a second and then crash and still
looping.
Can provide video or Xorg.conf if needed.

Try an alternate key server - Ubuntu's suck - and always seem to be
down..

subkeys.pgp.net
pgp.mit.edu
pool.sks-keyservers.net
keys.nayr.net

try the first then work your way down until you find one that doesn't
time out!

so do: apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net

if one works - your set!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462791] [NEW] Support Missing from Fujistu Stylistic ST50XX Wacom on Ubuntu 9.10

2009-10-28 Thread Snowman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I was really eager to try the New Ubuntu and I know it's a RC but I an
totally unable to get any sign's of life from my Fujistu Stylistic Wacom
Pentablet. 9.04 supported everything "out the box" with only a minor
annoyance of the pen going out of alignment if the display was rotated
then the system put to sleep.

9.10 however doesn't see anything relating to my wacom devices (and I
have tried two tablets just to be sure) and from what I was reading from
the RC notes regarding Wacom I was expecting it to be as seamless as
9.04 but with extra's.

Hi Pete.

Thanks for the reply. I did as you suggested and got the following.

Executing: gpg --ignore-time-conflict --no-options --no-default-keyring

gpg: keyserver receive failed: keyserver error

Sorry, I didn't realise that you had to wait a while for other text to
appear! Anyhow, I repeated the previous step and this time waited for
further text to appear, but got the following.

Executing: gpg --ignore-time-conflict --no-options --no-default-keyring

--keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys

Thanks.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462765] Re: [karmic] Detaching secondary monitor causes very slow X performance

2009-10-28 Thread crashsystems
A few minutes ago I had the idea to try to duplicate this issue with
compiz turned off. It turns out that the performance issue does not
happen when compiz is not running. With that in mind, it sounds to me
like it could be a compiz issue, and not a problem with X. I do not know
enough about ether to tell for certain, so I'd like some second opinions
on that. If it is compiz, should I changed the bug report to point to
the new package, or file a new bug?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 358365] Re: [g41] I830EmitFlush: BEGIN_BATCH called without closing ADVANCE_BATCH

2009-10-28 Thread Austriaco
Installing the PPA release (2.9) doesn't solve this issue. Now I cannot
play with mplayer fullscreen. Trying to do that will instantly kill the
X server and restart the X session. I had to revert to 2.6.3

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462765] [NEW] [karmic] Detaching secondary monitor causes very slow X performance

2009-10-28 Thread crashsystems
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

When I have a second monitor attached, and turn off that monitor in
preferences, everything starts drawing on the screen _very_ slowly
(though X is not frozen). I SSHd into my laptop and ran top to see if
any processes were consuming lots of CPU power, but everything looked
normal there. If I open up TTY1, the performance in X stays crappy, but
if I open up TTY1 _and_ log in there, the performance returns to normal.

You need to add the signing key, run the following in a terminal:

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 357901] Re: xinerama mouse cursor on every screen

2009-10-28 Thread Traveller
Hi All.

I am running Ubuntu 9.04, with an nVidia card and the 180 drivers
through Ubuntu's menu.

I also have this issue where the mouse pointer stays on one screen even
when moved to another screen. I have followed the instructions provided
in this thread from https://launchpad.net/~m0sia/+archive/ppa however, I
am receiving the following messages when I run sudo apt-get update.

Reading package lists... Done
W: GPG error: http://ppa.launchpad.net jaunty Release: The following signatures
couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY
8D09D5BE298D57CC
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems

If someone is able to assist with this problem, it would be really
appreciated and if I do get that far, then, when in the next step it is
stated 'You're now ready to install software from the PPA!', is this
just a case of entering 'sudo apt-get install' in the Terminal window
and pressing Enter?

Thanks.
