I had 9.04 installed on an NCR 7402 POS device w/microtouch touch screen that exhibits the same problem. When I boot Ubuntu 9.10, kernel 2.6.31-14-generic it does the same thing as described above. Under Ubuntu 9.10, kernel 2.6.28-16-generic it boots correctly, and looks correct. However the touch screen never worked, which I believe to be an entirely different issue. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462973] [NEW] X.Org X server --Nvidia (Nouveau) display driver fails xrandr_cycle test
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau This is a follow-up of my Bug #460510. I have attached the file ErrorLogs.tar.gz which contains: lspci -vvnn xorg.conf Xorg.0.log ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 CheckboxCommand: xrandr_cycle CheckboxData: Running the xrandr_cycle test predictable fails. When I run the test the xserver seems to crash and I am back at the Ubuntu login screen. When loging back in into Ubuntu again and running the test to switch to vt or switch manually to vt (ctrl-alt-f1), I have sometimes seen a scrambled screen with mainly beige color. When having a scrambled screen, leaving it with ctrl-alt-f7 did not work, however surprisingly leaving back to the deskto worked with ctrl-alt-f9. So far I have not found a way to predicably reproduce making the switch to vt fail. CheckboxDescription: Click Test to cycle through the detected video modes for your system. Did the screen appear to be working for each mode? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462939] [NEW] Lid close with intel 82852/855GM provoques black screen, loss of control and overeat
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Well basicly this bug looks almost like bug #138256 : When closing the lid and reopening it, the screen remains black and the laptop is not responding to anything (ctrl alt + Fx, ctrl alt +backspace or even SysRq are not working) the only way to get out is to power off the laptop with button. Tis bug is quite dangerous because the PC is NOT in suspend mode : it generate a lot of heat, and thus closing the lid and putting the laptop in a bag may result in dangerous overheat leading irremediable to hardware failure. 1) #138256 is old (2007) and fix is released, when this is a bug I did not have under 9.04 and have under 9.10 2) Putting the following in xorg.conf does not help Section "Device" ... ... Option "ForceEnablePipeA" "true" EndSection Maybe the solution 2 works if there is something else than xorg.conf where to put this since a few Ubuntu release xorg.conf is minimalistic. I believe this bug is very severe. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462921] [NEW] OpenGL problems on "Samsung Q25 Ruby" Notebook with i945GM graphics with Ubuntu 9.10
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Hello, I had problems with 3D graphics since the upgrade to ubuntu 8.10 on my "Samsung Q25 Ruby" Notebook with i945GM. Now using the new Ubuntu 9.10 RC and some problems seem to be fixed. For example, when I run a 3D application with Ubuntu 8.10, 3/4 of the screen are black/white, this doesnt happen now. But Celestia is still much slower than before and than under windows, Stellarium looks a bit strange when I enable compiz. SuperTux is stuttering a bit. (It was much stranger when I started it with the onboard sound card enabled unter Ubuntu 9.04, normaly I m using a PCMCIA card from Creative. It doesnt have any effect now with 9.10 when I switch the card.) Any Flash video, from youtube or somewhere else is stuttering and it doesnt matter if it is maximized or not. Only Stellarium seems to be effected by enabled compiz, all other problems are also happening with disabled compiz. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 432814] Re: Action for middle and right click is reversed since jaunty
Temporary fix: on each boot run: xinput set-int-prop "ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad" "Synaptics Tap Action" 8 0 3 0 0 1 2 3 This is for my eeepc 901. For synaptics touchpads it should be something like: xinput set-int-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Synaptics Tap Action" 8 0 3 0 0 1 2 3 Works for me anyway. Not that sure about the second suggestion. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462791] [NEW] Support Missing from Fujistu Stylistic ST50XX Wacom on Ubuntu 9.10
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I was really eager to try the New Ubuntu and I know it's a RC but I an totally unable to get any sign's of life from my Fujistu Stylistic Wacom Pentablet. 9.04 supported everything "out the box" with only a minor annoyance of the pen going out of alignment if the display was rotated then the system put to sleep. 9.10 however doesn't see anything relating to my wacom devices (and I have tried two tablets just to be sure) and from what I was reading from the RC notes regarding Wacom I was expecting it to be as seamless as 9.04 but with extra's. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462765] Re: [karmic] Detaching secondary monitor causes very slow X performance
A few minutes ago I had the idea to try to duplicate this issue with compiz turned off. It turns out that the performance issue does not happen when compiz is not running. With that in mind, it sounds to me like it could be a compiz issue, and not a problem with X. I do not know enough about ether to tell for certain, so I'd like some second opinions on that. If it is compiz, should I changed the bug report to point to the new package, or file a new bug? -- [karmic] Detaching secondary monitor causes very slow X performance https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/462765 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462765] [NEW] [karmic] Detaching secondary monitor causes very slow X performance
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg When I have a second monitor attached, and turn off that monitor in preferences, everything starts drawing on the screen _very_ slowly (though X is not frozen). I SSHd into my laptop and ran top to see if any processes were consuming lots of CPU power, but everything looked normal there.
