[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 460664] Re: White screen of death on Dell Studio 15
Hi, I can confirm this bug. As was being discussed in bug #297245, changing the options to NOMODESET does show the boot screen, but the screen turns black after the splash screen. After sometime the WSoD appears. I changed the driver from intel to vesa and i was able to atleast login. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 432814] Re: Action for middle and right click is reversed since jaunty
Is there any way that I can be contacted via this source when this correction has been made? Thankx! From: boun...@canonical.com [boun...@canonical.com] On Behalf Of hp_user [theaterf...@yahoo.com] Sent: Saturday, October 31, 2009 6:54 PM To: Daniel Tatum (924187871) Subject: [Bug 432814] Re: Action for middle and right click is reversed since jaunty Just upgraded to 9.10 and discovered this bug. Since the source code fix posted a couple of weeks ago looks pretty simple, might we see it pushed out in an update soonish? Reading the forums blogs, it looks like the move from hal to udev made this behavior non-configurable (in addition to being wrong). That's a shame. -- Action for middle and right click is reversed since jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/432814 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics LSB version = karmic Package version = 1.1.2-1ubuntu5 Expected behaviour: Tap the touchpad with 2 fingers simultaneously to generate middle-click event. Tap with 3 fingers for right-click event. Observed behaviour: A 2-finger tap generates a right-click event and a 3-finger tap generates a middle-click event. Looking at the changelog for 1.1.2-1ubuntu1 I see this: 105_correct_multifinger_click.patch: Swap the right/middle clicks generated by multi-finger tapping. This patch is then reverted in 1.1.2-1ubuntu2: 105_correct_multifinger_click.patch: Drop patch as it breaks the expected behavior for multitouch clicking (LP: #320585). However, I still experience the behaviour introduced in -1ubuntu1. Hopefully I can help get the expected behaviour back in time for karmic's release. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 136784] Re: X crashes and returns to log-in when starting certain games
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 130325 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130325 I don't think this is a dup of 130325! Please see my comments in 1228207. Basically, this bug is elusive, and evidently manifesting in different ways (eg by running gl games, screensaver, or as in my case, just by attempting to switch from GDM console to text console (ie looking at GDM on console 6, and pressing Ctl-Alt-1 to go to console 1, and machine hangs cold!) So I suspect this is some sort of race/threading problem, or at the least, something at a lower level in Xorg! My drivers are Intel standard built-in, other people has been Nvidia, etc, so not driver-specific as far as I can tell. Should I give up it and install another driver? Which? How? Should I go back to 9.04 which was working fine? Please, tell me. I understand it may not be a top priority to resolve it. I am OK with it. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 467236] Re: iwl3945 Failed to get channel info for channel 140 after upgrade to karmic
It seems to be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/gdm/+bug/431166 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/464591 - but I don't think it's a duplicate, since none of them mention the Failed to get channel info for channel 140 error message... I tried booting into kernel .28 (instead of .31), and that worked. I then changed xorg.conf from nvidia driver to nv driver, and booted into .31 - that worked! But using the Proprietary Drivers dialog to activate NVidia didn't seem to work (it would say downloading and installing, but afterwards still show it as inactive - even if xorg.conf had been updated to use the nvidia driver). Rebooting .31 with the nvidia driver gave the same problem as described above. So, while it clearly is related to xorg and nvidia, I need suggestions to get any closer to a solution... ** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) = xorg-server (Ubuntu) -- iwl3945 Failed to get channel info for channel 140 after upgrade to karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/467236 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 447835] Re: Java corrupts xserver or nvidia module
Hello, Same issue here, with latest version of JDownloader (9.310), Asus P5E3 Deluxe mobo, Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT with v185 driver installed through the provided proprietary drivers management tool. Linux distro is a vanilla Kubuntu v9.10 AMD64 (installed a few days ago). I can report that this issue could lead to a complete crash of the box. When I'm lucky, I may fall to a text console (ctrl-alt-F1), kill java and get back to KDE. All corrupted bitmap caches remain corrupted in that case, what can be fixed by closing/reopening my user session. I cannot tell if the issue is with java or with JDownloader, as I haven't had the time to try another Java application so far. And I won't have today. Finally, yes, not using the nvidia driver solves the issue for me. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 467967] [NEW] Openchrome driver not working after Karmic upgrade
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Greetings, I have an ASUS motherboard which thus far has been running Kubuntu Intrepid and Jaunty fine with no issues. I upgraded to Karmic yesterday and suddenly found that I cannot log into my system any longer. I enter my username and password and try to log in. KDE attempts to start loading and gets to the loading screen with the five icons. The HDD icon lights up and then the screen flickers and I'm back at the login screen. Sometimes, it progresses past this stage and then kicks me back to the login screen. I can log in fine via a terminal (with ctrl + alt + f1). I have updated all my packages with apt. * This board has a VIA chipset and requires unichrome drivers. I'm pretty certain that I was using the openchrome drivers and had things working with Jaunty. I tried reinstalling these via apt. * I've tried using xorg -configure to create a template xorg.conf file and used it. * With the above xorg.conf file, I've tried specifying vesa as the driver. X complained about vesa not supporting 24 bit and crashed. * I've also tried removing xserver-xorg-video-openchrome and restarting. X does not start. I'll attach log files shortly. I'm happy to stick around and get this solved completely. But in the interim, could somebody suggest a way to get my display back with VESA? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 426791] Re: Acer Aspire One AO751h screen unknown
I've installed Karmic (standard 32-bit Desktop edition, not the UNR) on my Aspire One AO751h netbook ; I thought that this 1366x768 support on Aspire One issue would have been solved natively in Karmic, along with the fixes of the Intel video drivers mumbo-jumbo seen in Jaunty. So I'm trying to understand why the packages that were published here on Launchpad for 9.04 don't work any longer in Karmic : I've unpacked the .deb files (xserver-xorg-video-psb, libdrm-poulsbo1, psb-kernel-source) that seem to bring the xorg modified stuff to support 1366x768 with the Intel Poulsbo chip (which is included in the Aspire One AO751h ; some quick conclusions would be that : - xserver-xorg-video-psb requires libdrm-poulsbo1 - but libdrm-poulsbo1 is marked as conflicting with libdrm2 - and (unfortunately...) libdrm2 is installed by default in Karmic I've tried to compile the psb-kernel-source part separately as shown by its deb package postinst script, but it fails at some point because some DRM_... C structures brought by the OS are not defined as expected by the psb source code... so I guess this is one of the show-stopper differences between libdrm2 and libdrm-poulsbo1 ? If you try to uninstall libdrm2, well dpkg wants to ununinstall xorg completely first... So I feel stuck at this point, don't know how to get further. Hello, With no surprise, my try to install kubuntu 9.10 from the alternative CD gives the same result. The install is OK due to text mode, but xorg freezes on the first boot, just the mouse move. I've tried many tricks founded on the Web, use i915.modeset=0, nomodeset, write a minimalist xorg.conf to disable DRI or force to use vesa driver. Nothing works. For the tips which consists of removing compiz, Kubuntu didn't use it, so... For the moment 9.04 will be back on my Asus, if someone can help me, I'll be very happy. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 458588] Re: [x-updates] X fails to start with i810 module not found error
@Tormod Volden: I reinstalled 9.04 in the meantime (had an image). When I looked up my xorg.conf, I didn't find any option with DRI. You find my xorg as an attachment. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 458588] Re: [x-updates] X fails to start with i810 module not found error
Paganini, the official Karmic version is the same as in x-updates/Jaunty so I expect the same issue there, unless some kernel changes have fixed it. Michael, there is no such option in xorg.conf by default, you will have to add it. In Jaunty it was disabled in the driver, not in the xorg.conf. -- [x-updates] X fails to start with i810 module not found error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458588 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I can only reproduce this in Supertuxkart on Ubuntu 9.10. For some reason, it doesn't appear in ExtremeTuxRacer (the graphics are a little jumpy but not as mangled as this issue) or any of the 3D screensavers, and neither did this appear in version 9.04 of Ubuntu (although the display was a lot slower).
