[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 510001] Re: [lucid alpha-2][radeon] Color depth degradation after resume (ATI Mobility Radeon X700)
I have to withdraw my previous comment. The truth is that I have two machines theoretically with the same configuration (except the hard drives are different). Both are the same acer ferrari 4005 WLMi model. In one of them the color depth degradation still appears while the other one suffers from Bug #524860 related to gnome-keyring but color depth changes after suspend/resume does not appear. I did the following experiment: I switched on both machines when booted up I logged in, suspended and resumed. After these I coppied the file from /var/log/Xorg.0.log to Xorg.0.log_homepc (refers to homepc suffering from color depth changes after resume) and Xorg.0.log_hardnut (refers to the other laptop without any issue after resume) Please, find the difference between the two files here below. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 522318] Re: Serial Tablet PCs not supported in lucid
@Tom Jaeger Bingo! Your /etc/udev/rules.d/65-xorg-wacom.rules file did the trick! I seriously wonder, though, why it hadn't worked before. The situation was that I had added the udev rules directly into /lib/udev/rules.d/69-xserver-xorg-input-wacom.rules. When having it configured that way 'udevadm info --path=/sys/class/tty/ttyS0/ --attribute-walk' gives looking at device '/devices/pnp0/00:08/tty/ttyS0': KERNEL==ttyS0 SUBSYSTEM==tty DRIVER== looking at parent device '/devices/pnp0/00:08': KERNELS==00:08 SUBSYSTEMS==pnp DRIVERS==serial ATTRS{id}==WACf004 looking at parent device '/devices/pnp0': KERNELS==pnp0 SUBSYSTEMS== DRIVERS== After cleaning up /lib/udev/rules.d/69-xserver-xorg-input-wacom.rules to its original state and installing /etc/udev/rules.d/65-xorg-wacom.rules from comment #12 the digitizer appears to be fully working. The mouse cursor follows the digitizer. Mouseclicks work with both ends of the pen. A brief test with xournal shows pressure sensitivity working as well as the button on the pen. This is great. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 519891] Re: Plymouth garbles screen (ATI 200M)
(hi Steve) update: Got a lot of upgraded packages over the last days, including X and a new kernel. Result is still the same, and still disappointing. Loaded the new kernel and X yesterday, rebooted and everything worked fine. No screen corruption, vertical lines etc, Plymouth also doing exactly what it should. Logged in, logged out, rebooted. No Plymouth, just vertical lines and unusable system. Killed X, but that would not help either. So now I'm back at booting without KMS (using the 'nomodeset' option) which gives me a garbled screen. Luckily I can get past that by killing X and then everything works pretty well. I really think the problems of this bug in combination with bug 509273 should be picked up and fixed, since it is the sort of 'does *not* work out of the box' issue that drives people away from Linux back to Winblows. Importance = high Serious regression cheers Tom -- Plymouth garbles screen (ATI 200M) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/519891 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is a direct subscriber. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 489875] Re: [i915g] [i915] Screen goes over the edges of display and too low resolution
From LG manual: Supported resolutions for HDMI 480p/576p/720p/1080i (Note: the 1360 x 768 mentioned earlier was for 15 pin D-sub cable). Changing the aspect ratio in TV between 4:3 and 16:9 does not bring the whole picture. But I can allign the picture with the TV's tool (Manual config. H- and V-position) to scan over the whole desktop, which goes over the edges cropped by 60 units horisontally (+30...-30) and 16 units vertically (+14...-12). Is this cropping an overscan issue? Just for additional information from the LG manual: *Computer connected with 15-pin D-Sub cable* If the resolution of the computer is higher than SXGA [1280x1024], picture will not appear to television. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 469870] Re: S-video is missing entirely on xrandr report - unable to use S-video
Hi d-man97, Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/) If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log? Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati After upgrade from karmic I get 2x higher Fps in glxgears(about 1700 FPS), because KMS is enabled by default.(In karmic KMS did not work). But gnome desktop environment (with or without compiz) is about 3x slower(gtk-perf) against the same desktop environment with KMS disabled. Also I get 80 FPS with compiz-benchmark, when KMS is disabled, but when KMS is enabled, I get hardly 30 FPS. Also mouse cursor appears after start-up, when KMS is disabled( please see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- ati/+bug/528115). However, when I disable KMS, I get 800 FPS in glxgears and opengl windows do not behave correctly(like in previous versions of ubuntu:karmic, jaunty...-see screenshot attachment). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 531208] [NEW] Need way to insert arbitrary unicode characters in Kubuntu
You have been subscribed to a public bug: KDE, Qt, and Xorg are in disagreement about who should implement ISO 14755, which would facilitate the input of arbitrary unicode characters. This is the original KDE bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103788 It was pushed upstream to Qt: http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTBUG-8 From there it was pushed further upstream to Xorg: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26747 Xorg pushes the bug downstream, back to either Qt or KDE to implement, just as Gnome implemented the fix themselves. An Xorg developer who does not want to be named says that if KDE won't implement it then my distro should. So here I file that request. Note that in KDE 3 one could use the Kcharselect applet to enter arbitrary unicode characters, however that has been disabled in KDE 4: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=190776 ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Need way to insert arbitrary unicode characters in Kubuntu https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/531208 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
