[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 543220] [NEW] TV display cycles out of sync - C51PV [GeForce 6150]

2010-03-21 Thread Bryce Harrington
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

I've got a GeForce 6150 attached to a TV. After upgrading to Lucid, the
screen flickers and looks like it's lost its horizontal sync.

BIOS and grub display okay, but once the boot gets to plymouth it starts with
the screen cycling.

From the attached make.log above:

Run 'make oldconfig make prepare' on kernel src to fix it.

Following the advice in make.log I tried make oldconfig on the kernel
headers and mostly just chose the defaults for each prompt. when I went
to run make prepare I got this:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 256021] Re: glxinfo crashed with SIGSEGV in __libc_start_main()

2010-03-21 Thread Frans
Why did you have the nvidia drivers installed, then? Barring a bug in
jockey, these drivers should not have been automatically installed for
you.

Steve, this is explained by my apt logs, which indicate that this
affects people upgrading from karmic to lucid who have libmyth
installed. The latest package versions and dependencies should have
removed this problem.

Here's where I get the nvidia driver:

/var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log: Installing nvidia-current as Depends of
nvidia-185-libvdpau

These are from karmic
/var/log/dist-upgrade/20091031-0847/apt.log:Installing nvidia-185-libvdpau as
dep of libmyth-0.22-0
/var/log/dist-upgrade/20091031-0933/apt.log:Installing nvidia-185-libvdpau as
dep of libmyth-0.22-0

This is from karmic-lucid upgrade.
/var/log/dist-upgrade/20100319-0647/apt.log:Installing nvidia-185-libvdpau as
dep of libmyth-0.22-0

Currently libmyth is at 0.3-2 and depends on libvdpau1-0.3-2 which
replaces nvidia-185-libvdpau, so this shouldn't cause further problems.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 543245] [NEW] Screen's graphics messed up on radeon 9200se (with and without compiz..)

2010-03-21 Thread Arkashkin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Hi,
I have installed Ubuntu Lucid beta1 on my old computer which has ATI Radeon
9200SE (it is based on rv280 chip-set) graphics card.
In Karmic every thing worked well but with Lucid many graphics, icons, letters
don't shown well.
I wanted to take some screen shot for example but the screen shots come out
even worst then it is in reality (I'm writing from this computer right now...):
http://www.ubuntu-pics.de/bild/48123/screenshot_tzQl5G.png

I barely can see my mouse pointer, and to turn on and off compiz doesn't
change anything.

Sorry for my bad English.

The brightness keys on my Dell 1555 also don't work at their best - I
mean, they do change the brightness indeed but notify-osd doesn't show
the 'progress' bar.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 543220] Re: TV display cycles out of sync - C51PV [GeForce 6150]

2010-03-21 Thread Bryce Harrington
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

- I've got a GeForce 6150 attached to a TV. After upgrading to Lucid, the
- screen flickers and looks like it's lost its horizontal sync.
+ I've got a GeForce 6150 attached to a TV using RGB component video
+ cables to a receiver, and from the receiver to the TV. After upgrading
+ to Lucid, the screen flaps up and down as if it's lost its vertical
+ sync.

- BIOS and grub display okay, but once the boot gets to plymouth it starts with
the screen cycling.
- ---
+ BIOS and grub display okay, but once the boot gets to plymouth it starts
+ with the screen cycling. I tried changing to other resolutions but all
+ cycle exactly the same. Tried -vesa, -fbdev, and -nv, none of which
+ worked. I notice it is not detecting the physical dimensions for the
+ TV-1 output (0mm x 0mm), but I'm not sure if that's relevant.
+
+ I also tried connecting a DVI-D cable to the TV directly. This worked
+ somewhat better but still flickered and the fonts seemed weirdly
+ stretched.
+
+ I tested booting an older 2.6.28 kernel, and this seemed to work better
+ in that there was no flickering and the picture was the right
+ resolution. However, it seems to have gotten stuck on the plymouth
+ screen. So something's still not quite right.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 294972] Re: MASTER: xorg high cpu usage, general system sluggishness

2010-03-21 Thread AREL
Helped me. Edubuntu installs itcalc-client. In 9.10 it installed on the
2 kids machines (both AMD64, dual core). They crawled in periods,
could not figure out why. I later installed it on my 9.10 Ubuntu (AMD
64, quad core) and the s... hit the fan. Crazy CPU use and noisy office.
Removed on the 3 machines and it is peaceful after.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 533269] Re: External display not working

2010-03-21 Thread Alfredo Gemma
Same situation here: second monitor detected, but no image is displayed.
Ati Radeon hd 3850
Ubuntu Lucid Lynx BETA x64
Furthermore, I tried to install ATI proprietary driver, but the installation
fails due to the missing /usr/lib32 directory.

There must be something wrong with my Samsung TV. I still can reproduce
this issue with an Nvidia Geforce GT220M. Next week I try Lucid beta,

I can't set any other resolution or refresh rate.

I found the Problem!
I attached the original .nvidia-settings-rc (from fresh install, not working)
and the corrected one.

The Problem is the line 36:

0/GPUScaling[DFP-1]=131075 (not working, default setting)
0/GPUScaling[DFP-1]=65537 (working)

(I dont know, how i did get that value, I am just lucky)
(I ve noticed that issue on Alpha 4, - 6, Beta and RC )

Or simply force k0ekk0ek 's version of x-server-core in synaptic.
Select x-server-core package
CTRL E
Choose k0ekk0ek backclear patch (4.1)

Easy, works fine

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 311051] Re: [KM400]xserver/openchrome crash with unichrome

2010-03-21 Thread Paul van Genderen
This graphics chip doesn't work with Lucid currently (it was fine in
earlier versions). On the current kernels (2.6.32-16-generic and
2.6.32-17-generic), I am unable to boot. Using the old kernel
(2.6.31-19-generic), Ubuntu can boot but running 'startx' makes the
system hang. Using vesa always fails.

Will try disabling DRI.

Including the (very minimal) configuration file for Teknics.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 512128] Re: [i945] [i945] [lucid] intel gma 82945G displays nothing

2010-03-21 Thread Pjotr12345
I'm also affected by this bug. With a different Intel videochip: the
Intel 915.

These are the hardware specifications of my laptop:
Sony Vaio VGN-BX296VP
Pentium M 1,6 Ghz
1 Gb RAM
Intel 915 chipset (using 256 MB shared memory)
15,4 inch screen

Unfortunately, I can't test the PPA fix, because I don't have any
graphical display.

This is what I tried:
- booting the LiveCD: after the initial screen, nothing.
- Upgrading the existing 9.10 to 10.04. After the succesful upgrade: both
normal boot and Recovery Mode don't give any graphical display at all.
- Trying to boot with different VGA and VESA display modes as boot parameters.
No avail.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 477149] Re: Failsafe X support added in proposed upload still doesn't work

2010-03-21 Thread Andis Grosšteins
this bug may not be fixed in karmic xorg - 1:7.4+3ubuntu10

Caught this while trying to enable nvidia drivers for my old geforce4 and got
in failsafe mode.
here is what dexconfig (presumably) generates after selecting reconfigure and
reset to defaults:

Section Device
Identifier Configured Video Device
BusID 10 xserver-xorg/config/device/bus_id doesn't exist
EndSection

I removed the BusID line in failsafe dialogue, returned to shell login (tty1)
and ran sudo service gdm start.
Now X works with default config.

Intel i855gm still unusable in Lucid Beta 1; tried Lubuntu iso
With KMS and without (nomodesetting) both failing after choose the option Try
Lubuntu without install
Tried Safe Graphics Mode and it works; Lubuntu loads.
I don't know what Safe Graphics Mode means, but I quite sure that do not use
intel driver.

never seen the progress bar, although the brightness changes. This is
why I think this is not a fglrx-related bug.

Hi D.,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this
issue. If you're using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 484530] Re: xorg - Saw signal 11. Server aborting.

2010-03-21 Thread Bryce Harrington
Hi krzysin,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with
the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 543368] [NEW] Running `lshw -C video' causes psychedelic graphic distortions until logout (video included)

2010-03-21 Thread Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

When I run `lshw -C video' while using the xserver-xorg-video-intel
driver the colors on the screen are distorted in a very funky way until
logout. I'm attaching a video which demonstrates this.
