[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 553200] Re: Mouse and keyboard stop working after selecting user

2010-04-10 Thread mlkovacs
Same here, I installed nvidia_96 through Jockey today after a buch of
updates on a fresh install of Beta 2. nvidia_96 fails to install
properly, Then after a reboot, GDM crashes after clicking on a user. GDM
restarts after a few seconds. I switched to tty1 and sudo stop gdm
startx. Gnome desktop loads with nvidia accelerated graphics. nvidia
module is actually loaded and running. Compiz effects are working. But
Jockey still reports that nvidia was disabled. This is my kids computer
so I cant expect her to login through the cli so its back to nouveau for
now.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 559838] [NEW] blank screen on boot on Quadro FX380m

2010-04-10 Thread UnstableGhost
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

Used 10.04 beta, had to 'nomodset' live cd for it to actually work.
Otherwise blank screen with no option to switch to tty (however I can
hear login sound). Same story after installation, this time 'nomodset'
did not work, so I had to add nouveau.modeset=0 to boot into system.
Removed xorg-nouveau package and installed nvidia-185. Works fine now.
Graphics card is Nvidia quadro fx380m.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 559066] Re: display resolution

2010-04-10 Thread Monkey
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important
for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn
more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a
bug in xorg.
(With many applications, you can report a future bug directly on the
appropriate package by opening the application's Help menu and choosing
Report a Problem. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs)

** Package changed: ubuntu = xorg (Ubuntu)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 559883] [NEW] lucid beta-2 X crashes with dual head cinfiguration when opengl is enabled with intel GM945

2010-04-10 Thread pschorre
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I am using a intel GM945 based desktop system (mb: ibase 899) with two dvi
outputs and two Samsung 204B LCDs (no others outouts are used). After
installation and updating the system (kubuntu 10.04 beta-2) it starts with both
displays in clone mode. After enabling dual head functions via xrandr or the
systemsettings gui X crashes and restarts automaticly.
A workaround is to use xrender istead of opengl (changed in systemsettings).
Dual head configuration is workig now, but very slow.
For keepeing the dualhead setup and enabling it system wide I use a small
xorg.conf (see folling comment and attachement).
Testing kubuntu 10.04 beta-1 produced the same error with a segmentation fault
in xorg.log.

This didn't happen on my laptop so I don't have it at my disposal at the
moment. I'll send the log files to you tomorrow afternoon.

Regards,

2010/4/9 Jean-Baptiste Lallement jeanbaptiste.lallem...@gmail.com

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Could you please add the log files from '/var/log/dist-upgrade/'
to this bug report as separate attachments?

This is very likely a dup of bug 552782.

 Thanks in advance.

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: update-manager

 Hy.

I ren update-manager -d and received the following two messages in the
'install the upgrades' section of updating ubuntu to 10.04 lucid lynx.

The message provided by the update manager was:

 Could not install
 '/var/cache/apt/archives/fglrx_2%3a8.721-0ubuntu7_i386.deb'

The upgrade will continue but the
 '/var/cache/apt/archives/fglrx_2%3a8.721-0ubuntu7_i386.deb' package may not
be in a working state. Please consider submitting a bug report about it.

I forgot to copy the rest of the message but as far as I can remember it
 was: subprocess returned signal 2

Then it continued to install and after a while a new popup message said:
 Could not install 'fglrx'

The upgrade will continue but the 'fglrx' package may not be in a working
state. Please consider submitting a bug report about it.

no package named `fglrx' is installed, cannot configure

 System info:
 ubuntu 9.10 32bit
 intel core2 duo
 ati radeon graphics card
 computer: dell studio 1535 laptop

 hope this helps.

 regards,

 Domen

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 555169] [NEW] Keyboard and mouse freeze after grub

2010-04-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After an update the mouse and keyboard freeze during boot. The keyboard
works in grub and recovery mode, if keys are pressed during boot.
Touchpads are also disabled. I am not sure if we deal with only one bug,
but all problems started synchronous (with updates that were at the same
time with the kernel -18).

An USB Keyboard connected after boot works.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 494359] Re: mtrr: no more MTRRs available makes X lock up when running Firefox with ATI driver

2010-04-10 Thread Bryce Harrington
Hi gjarboni,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with
the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 559943] [NEW] windows slow to appear and resize (2 seconds)

2010-04-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: compiz

With the ATI/Radeon and fglrx drivers and compiz installed, all the
effects and acceleration work fine but windows are slow to appear and to
be resized.

/The delay is one to two seconds and affects all windows/.
It affects newly appearing windows, those that are restored after having been
minimized, and those that are are resized (afted the selection of the new size
is complete).
There is no delay for minimizing windows nor for moving them.

This bug does not appear when the ATI proprietary drivers are not installed
(which is equivalent to disabling Compiz I believe).
I witnessed this bug both with Gnome and with KDE.

Here is the version information and lspci output:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 560048] [NEW] X.org randomly crashing with Intel i845 video cards

2010-04-10 Thread hfzorman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

It happens at random and only when drawing something: a menu, a
notification or something emergent. This bug wasn't present in Jaunty
and Ubuntu ran without problems, but with Karmic and Lucid this bug
doesn't seems to get fixed. In Karmic it was controlled since I stopped
using Kmess which used knotify4 and definetly it caused a lot of crashes
(the screen froze and olnly the mouse you could move, you saw everything
in the background but nothing reacted). Later I changed to Emesene and
that left the crashes to occur only barely randomly if I was using
Emesene and Java on Firefox. However, now in Lucid it has become more
random and occurs just for the sake of happening. I know the problems
with the i845 and those kind of chipsets has come from a long time back,
since compiz has came in and the chipset was blacklisted, but please, I
would like my computer just work. Thanks in advance.
