[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 568779] Re: 10.04 rc livecd boots into black/blank screen (intel 82852/855GM graphic card)
As for me, the RC live CD image downloaded this morning (GMT 2:00 AM 4/24) CAN boot into KDE desktop (although the bootsplash is an ugly Ubuntu 10.04 text) on my Lenovo S10-2 netbook (with Intel GMA 950). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 516329] Re: TouchPad buttons don't work on HP Mini 210 (1030NR)
This bug also applies to the HP Mini 210-1010NR model. Just to recap my own experience: Out of the box, the actual buttons (which are physically part of the pad area) don't work. To effectuate a click, one has to tap on the pad. Right click is very hard, as one has to tap on the lower right corner of the pad; it usually takes me a few tries. Two-fingered scrolling does not work, but edge scrolling does. This is my workaround: I discovered that by applying the following settings via synclient, I can achieve two-fingered scrolling, and a two- fingered tap will be interpreted as a right-click. (However, two- fingered scrolling is still a disabled option in gnome-mouse-mouse- properties.) This isn't a fix to this bug, but it might help people who are having trouble. This command will do it: synclient TapButton2=3 HorizTwoFingerScroll=1 VertTwoFingerScroll=1 EmulateTwoFingerMinZ=29 EmulateTwoFingerMinW=5 By the way, what is the correct way to apply these settings automatically at start up? Does one have to edit /usr/lib/X11/xorg.conf.d/* or is there a per-user way of applying these settings other than invoking synclient in .xinitrc? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 352804] Re: In Kubuntu 9.04 Beta, when logging off the X does not come back.
At least for my Mobility Radeon HD3200, where I'm sure to have been affected by exactly this bug, I can say that Kubuntu Lucid Beta2/RC works. Logout shows KDM login screen again as it is expected. But I must also say that solving such critical bugs takes too much time. When a critical system component hangs each time it is used, it cannot be acceptable to wait one year / two releases until it works again. Maybe responsible persons should check their priorities if there are not enough people to help fixing issues. I like to test and report bugs, but it makes no sense when critical bugs are not fixed and a system hangs all the time so it is unusable. -- In Kubuntu 9.04 Beta, when logging off the X does not come back. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/352804 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-sis in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 567696] Re: [Radeon] [Lucid] [mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop
Ilja, the NMI issue is a different one. You should report that separately against linux since it is likely an issue with the kernel (I'll take a guess there's an Atheros WiFi adaptor?). Create that report from a terminal shell using: ubuntu-bug linux And when you've been logged into Launchpad set the title of the bug to NMI received for unknown reason a1 on CPU 0. Then add to the top of the bug description the symptom report: Apr 23 14:57:12 kernel: [14685.638506] Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason a1 on CPU 0. Apr 23 14:57:13 kernel: [14685.638511] You have some hardware problem, likely on the PCI bus. Apr 23 14:57:13 kernel: [14685.638513] Dazed and confused, but trying to continue may or may not be related. -- [Radeon] [Lucid] [mi] EQ overflowing. For me it's not about update. I just installed fresh Xubuntu 10.04 RC (tried Kubuntu too just to verify it's not about the distribution) using wubi as this one happens to be a windows machine.. This one has Logitech's Bluetooth Desktop MX5000 keyboard + mouse with Logitech's USB Bluetooth tranceiver (it shows as an USB keyboard + USB mouse if I recall correctly). As I can't log in I really can't (or can I?) get any information out of it.. I haven't tried on my workstation (which has Ubuntu 9.10 installed) but I guess I'm not trying to update it just yet.. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 539163] [NEW] [Legacy Radeon cards] Desktop effects/compiz: display brightness fluctuation with zoom, workspace switch or Expo
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Ubuntu Lucid Lynx, kernel 2.6.32.xx Zooming in with Super+Scroll causes the screen to become very dark, practically unreadable. Adjusting Fn+Brightness doesn't fix this, although I can tell the brightness changing slightly. The same thing happens when changing workspaces (Ctrl+Alt+- or Ctrl+Alt+-), dragging a window from one workspace to another, or using Expo (Super+E) to view all workspaces simultaneously. Returning to normal zoom level will always restore the correct level of brightness immediately, corresponding to how it might have been adjusted during black out. I also noticed that the cursor will stay bright against the dark background. I reported this bug against the kernel because with the mainline kernel there were no issues with brightness (albeit, there are some other issues). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 330906] Re: MASTER: GMA-500 lacks driver for 8.10 and 9.10 (poulsbo works only on 8.04 and 9.04)
Canonical should be looking out for their Users! and the Linux Foundation should too! I did read something that In November 2009, the Linux Foundation released the details of a new, rewritten Linux driver that would support this chipset and Intel's other upcoming chipsets. The Direct Rendering Manager and X.org parts would be free software, but the 3D component (using Gallium3D) will still be proprietary. and more news from Phoronix about this from November 2009 can be found here, http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_itempx=NzY2Mg But as you know, there's NOTHING that's been done. I know I had a very ignorant reply back from Intel about the GMA500 driver, saying that it's down to the Distrobution to fix the problem. Maybe we (all GMA500 users) should all send a message to Intel to get them to do something. -- MASTER: GMA-500 lacks driver for 8.10 and 9.10 (poulsbo works only on 8.04 and 9.04) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/330906 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-psb in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 561049] Re: after upgrade to lucid, xorg frequently fails to start properly using nvidia-current
bcrowell: You must be using a apt mirror that has not been updated in quite some time, please change it to one of the primary mirrors (like http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu) and update with sudo apt-get update and then sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. Do you have /usr mounted on a seperate partition? This sounds like a bug that has been fixed quite some time ago where the blacklist wouldn't get loaded if the seperate partition it was on was being fscked and you just have not received the updates yet because of the mirror problem. ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress = Incomplete -- after upgrade to lucid, xorg frequently fails to start properly using nvidia-current https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/561049 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Well it gets more confusing! Both logs show the device nodes created. Are you *sure* the failed_log isn't accidentally a successful run?
