[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 362359] Re: Focus gets stuck to a window - impossible to select other windows
petter wahlman (comment #44), I suspect your bug is different; with ddd, there's a very specific and reproducible way to make this happen. That issue is covered by bug 574157. My quick reading of the rest of this bug is that it's something that happens randomly to people whilst not doing anything specific and/or repeatable. -- Focus gets stuck to a window - impossible to select other windows https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/362359 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 505494] Re: Mouse events fail frequently and unpredictably, requiring kwin restart
@ Patrick Dawkins Yes, after trying around I found out the same thing! For example, when I click on the App Launcher in the taskbar, the mouse will not actually work in the applauncher unless I right-click on the symbol or anywhere in the taskbar again.. Quite annoying! I really hope there will be a patch for this because I actually was still in the process of switching to Ubuntu and now I find myself going back to Windows which is so slow! -- Mouse events fail frequently and unpredictably, requiring kwin restart https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/505494 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 511001] Re: [i855] Lucid Freeze shortly after X startup (needs KMS blacklist?)
Thank you for the tip Willem, with that kernel I'm also able to boot with KMS on and Xv and everything. I only noticed a small glitch, in Xv sometimes (e.g. in totem, but not with fullscreen nor in vlc) there's a black overlay over the video. And if I click on a totem menu, and then I close the totem menu, the black overlay is left where the menu was. Anyway, it's very workable with that kernel, thanks again. -- [i855] Lucid Freeze shortly after X startup (needs KMS blacklist?) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/511001 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 476817] Re: [i855] [i855] [karmic] X freezes with intel 855GM videocard
I can also confirm that the ppa kernel works for me in Lucid, while without it I can't boot my old laptop. My card is: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device [8086:3582] (rev 02) 2.6.32-20.30 = Last one that boots, crashes with Xv 2.6.32-21.32 = It hangs when X starts 2.6.32-22.33 = It hangs when X starts 2.6.34rc3-51.2 = Works fine with KMS and Xv and everything. One minor glitch, I'm sometimes seeing a black square over the Xv video (e.g. on totem but not on vlc), covering all of the video. In totem, when I open a menu and close it, that black square goes where the menu was. And when I switch to fullscreen it goes away so I can see the video normally. No, the previous commenter is using the proprietary -nvidia driver so it's going to be something unrelated. Particularly since this bug was fixed and confirmed so (and if it actually did regress a lot of people would notice.) [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 569372] Re: 10.4 Live CD - Blank screen with Radeon 5870
Yes, anyone can run apport-collect bugnumber, assuming there is not a build error in the package that the bug is assigned to (xserver-xorg- video-ati in this case) like there was in the Intel graphics driver for a while during Lucid development. And yes, nomodeset should be forcing UMS. However I found some reports in the forums that nomodeset is not working for some people, both on ATI and Intel graphics. An alternative option which seems to work is radeon.modeset=0 However I emailed ATI's Alex Deucher about the patch I mentioned in the second paragraph of comment 17. This is his reply: I'm unsure as to what it is supposed to do/fix. Would you be able to explain briefly for me, with references if necessary? It just expands the possible crtc mask for the output when mapping the the kms stuff to xrandr. evergreen cards have 6 crtcs. The old mask would have limited it to 4 IIRC. It only affects cards capable of more than 4 independent heads. In particular, does it have any relevance to the Launchpad bugs at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/569372 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/560306 ? No relevance. Your best bet for evergreen is kms. The ums modesetting code doesn't work well for digital outputs and I haven't had time to sort out why. -- 10.4 Live CD - Blank screen with Radeon 5870 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569372 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 575055] Re: Xserver crash when hitting certain keys while scroll lock is activated
I have tried several things to work around this problem by now: * adding nomodeset to the kernel parameters in grub * using the vesa driver instead of the intel driver * removing xorg.conf altogether * turning off DRI * disabling scim * using a different user account None of these made a difference - X still crashes whenever the Enter key is hit while scroll lock is behaving erratically. I also tried installing a fresh version of Kubuntu (Lucid, 64bit version this time) to an external harddrive and it did not exhibit the bug. I will try to apply my current configuration to that install over the next few days to see if I can find out what triggers the bug. -- Xserver crash when hitting certain keys while scroll lock is activated https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575055 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 576914] [NEW] [Lucid Lynx] X uses a wrong display frequency
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg X uses a frequency too high for my monitor. Workaround: I added VertRefresh 43-74 to /etc/X11/xorg.conf. It works, but it does not solve the issue since KDE does not let me set another frequency than 60 Hz. History: I upgrade from Kubuntu 9.10 to 10.4. Kubuntu 9.10 was working fine. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 432531] Re: Unknown/unaccounted memory leak
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I have HP ProBook 4310s loaded with Linux Mint 7 Gloria (Jaunty 9.04) with all the latest updates and ATI Proprietary driver (for ATI Mobility Radeon 4330). I am currently having some weird memory leak issue. Basically, the total memory usage from `free -m` or gnome-system-monitor doesn't tally with the sum of all processes' memory. The difference is a lot, from 100mb to 1gb. It kept on growing out of no where. I should confirm this too. As a matter of fact, even when kms is disabled, the video is somewhat slower than it used to be on koala. For instance, switching windows is rather sluggish. This last one is probably related to the the poor memory management. Well, this issue is nothing compared to the main issue - regular system freezes. Is it a different bug? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 367776] Re: Kubuntu 9.04 + Radeon X1300 - No dual monitor option in system settings (dual-head)
Same Problem with Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx AMD64 default install: Summary: switching off KMS with boot parameter and custom xorg helped (see below), fix for KMS and dualhead detection needed. Detail: In System Settings - Display - Multiple Montors I got the message that on my system I don't have multiple monitors. However I see the cloned view. If I tree to change the settings from clone to left or right display gets totally scrambled (i.e. many coulored lines and noise), only sysrq-k helped (who disabled ctrl-alt-bsp per default !?). Then I tried xrandr: xrandr --output DVI-0 --right-of VGA-0 --mode 1280x1024 with the same result scrambled display! When I used a customized xorg.conf it seemed to wrok but kdm restarts itself after about 10 minutes!!! The only log-entries I found were: kdm.log:QFileSystemWatcher: failed to add paths: /tmp/0659673494/.config/ibus/bus kdm.log:Bus::open: Can not get ibus-daemon's address. kdm.log:IBusInputContext::createInputContext: no connection to ibus-daemon So I changed the file /etc/default/grub: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash radeon.modeset=0 and after a sudo grub-update everything works! Hi Bryce, I just have tested amdcccle run from terminal to see output. Have any of you who have been trying 2.6.34rc3-51 experienced Xorg using abnormally much CPU time? With an idle (KDE) desktop, it seems to be consuming 10-30 times more CPU than with 2.6.32-22. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 576453] Re: Xorg cannot set a display resolution different than 800x600
Update: seems it's an error in Xorg, I can set the resolution 1024x768 but under the 1152x864 mode, so the mode 1024x768 will set the mode 800x600, the 1360x768 the mode 1152x864 .. But that caused the re-write of the xorg.conf file by the NVIDIA X Server Settings and the moving of all gnome applets (included trash). ** Summary changed: - Xorg cannot set a display resolution different than 800x600 + Xorg cannot set the right resolution for the display -- Xorg cannot set the right resolution for the display https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/576453 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
