[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 596082] Re: [arrandale] Dell Latitude E6510 unable to use second external vga monitor

2010-08-08 Thread SF Basilix
I just checked in after a while, but I do not know what happened. I went
through the entire bug process and posted it here a while ago, but for
some reason it's gone. I won't have the time to test the above for a
while as I am really buried with a number of items. This problem still
exists and I will try to reply at a later time. @Corona, please continue
with your bug as it may get the proper resolution if you can follow up
with the requirements. Thanks!

Public bug reported:

When playing a video, the screen is blank. I need to turn off my
extended desktop and turn it back on with the xrandr command. I have a

have recently moved to a fresh install from Karmic to Lucid and the
problem remains.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 568387] Re: No Touchpad, No Sound

2010-08-08 Thread Leo Arias
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.  I have classified this
bug as a bug in xserver-xorg-input-synaptics.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 568387] Re: No Touchpad, No Sound

2010-08-08 Thread Leo Arias
David Hickman, please read this:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems#Basic%20troubleshooting
If you still have problems after following that guide please ask a question at
https://answers.launchpad.net/ or if you are sure that you are experiencing a
bug, please open a separate one.

Joe Mcverry, your sound problems are not related to the touchpad
problems, so they should be separate issues. Please do the same as David
:)

I'll change the title of this issue so we can focus on the touchpad
problem...

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 588973] Re: Touchpad settings reset suspend/hibernate

2010-08-08 Thread rawphi
I can confirm this bug too. this is a very grave bug, as it renders the
UI behaviour haptically unpredictable.

xinfo --list-props , before suspend:
Synaptics Move Speed (262): 1.704545, 0.033898, 0.00, 0.00
after resume:
Synaptics Move Speed (262): 0.40, 0.70, 0.008970, 40.00

didn't confirm whether other settings are also reset, if you need to
know, please tell.

my current workaround:
Pointing Devices dialogue sliders show selected speed, if you move them,
xserver settings get updated

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 549447] Re: eGalax touchscreen configured as tablet

2010-08-08 Thread Benjamin Meeusen
I used the livecd Maverick Alpha 3 Netbook. Without the usbhid.quirks
option, the cursor stays in the upper left corner. With the
usbhid.quirks option, I can use xinput_calibrator, set the 'Evdev Axes
Swap' and the 'Evdev Axis Inversion' to 1 and have a working
touchscreen.
Now I've installed the backported kernel (same kernel as in Alpha 3, I
believe) on my existing installation, without any custom boot options
and the cursor still goes to the upper left corner.

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev

 from Xorg.0.log: (II) eGalax Inc. Touch: Configuring as tablet
 The touchscreen is a 7 resistive vga monitor.

 Every touch makes the cursor move to the upper left corner and register the
 click there.
 My calibration values, coming from an ubuntu  8.10 installation using
 evtouch, are loaded through a udev rule. Changing them or using no values at
 all for calibration does not change anything.

 If I install the eGalax driver
 (http://home.eeti.com.tw/web20/eGalaxTouchDriver/linuxDriver.htm), the device
 is listed twice in xinput list and if I disable the device using evdev, I
 can calibrate the screen using the eGalax tool and everythings works. If I
 don't disable the device using evdev, everything works too, except that every
 touch is preceded by a touch to the upper left corner.
 But I'd rather get it working using only evdev.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 549447] Re: eGalax touchscreen configured as tablet

2010-08-08 Thread Benjamin Meeusen
With the quirks option, xorg detects two devices for my touchscreen, one
TABLET and one MOUSE, both with the same name. Is this normal behaviour?
It makes assigning the right ID to 'xinput set-int-prop' a bit harder,
since the ID changes if you plug other usb devices or plug it into
another usb port.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 615022] [NEW] wrong button order when using joystick as mouse

2010-08-08 Thread Aapo Rantalainen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-joystick

I installed xserver-xorg-input-joystic because I want move mousepointer with
joystick. Moving works, but buttons are mapped wrongly. SystemSettings -
joystick shows it like this:
A=1
B=2
C=3
X=4
Y=5
Z=6
left_shoulder=7
right_shoulder=8
'select'=9

Expected:
A=button1 (left mouse button)
B=button2 (middle mouse button)
C=button3 (right mouse button)
(maybe other buttons too)

Actual:
When using (or with xev).
A=middle mouse button
B=rigth mouse button
others=nothing

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 159968] Re: ButtonPress and ButtonRelease of button 4 are generated by left click of synaptic touch pad

2010-08-08 Thread philipp
Hi Gursimran singh Mohar,
I think, my touchpad supports multitouch, at least the option is not greyed
(but also not activated) under SystemPreferencesMouse. Here is a photo of the
touchpad http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7981005/DSC_0001.JPG

This time, I logged out and stopped gdm. I attached the output of evtest
with a double left click.

Hope that helps.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 549447] Re: eGalax touchscreen configured as tablet

2010-08-08 Thread Benjamin Meeusen
I've read the thread again and found the solution using xorg.conf.d

Section InputClass
Identifier eGalax calibration
MatchProduct eGalax Inc. Touch
Option Calibration 2004 66 76 1942
Option SwapAxes 1
Option InvertX 1
Option InvertY 1
EndSection

I was trying to do this using udev rules, but then I came across
https://wiki.kubuntu.org/X/InputConfiguration
which says: Note: The x11_options properties are not supported in Ubuntu
10.04. Use xorg.conf.d snippets instead.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 588973] Re: Touchpad settings reset suspend/hibernate/resume

2010-08-08 Thread tob
I think that the best workaround is to modify the 10-synaptics.conf file
located in /usr/lib/X11/xorg.conf.d/. All of the options that you place
in the touchpad catchall section of the file will be applied when the
computer resumes from suspend. However, the GUI settings will override
these settings when the computer is restarted. The best thing to do is
try to match the 10-synaptics.conf options with your GUI so that it will
always work the way you want it to. Here is what mine looks like:

Section InputClass
Identifier touchpad catchall
MatchIsTouchpad on
MatchDevicePath /dev/input/event*
Driver synaptics
Option  SHMConfig   on
Option TapButton2 3
Option VertEdgeScroll 0
Option HorizEdgeScroll 0
Option EmulateTwoFingerMinW 5
Option EmulateTwoFingerMinZ 90
Option VertTwoFingerScroll 1
Option HorizTwoFingerScroll 1
Option VertScrollDelta 100
Option HorizScrollDelta 600
Option CornerCoasting 1
Option CoastingSpeed 100
Option PalmDetect 1
Option PalmMinWidth 7
Option PalmMinZ 90
EndSection

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 376485] [NEW] Key stuck after switching workspace in Gnome with Keyboard shortcut

2010-08-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I run an up-to-date Jaunty system. I've experienced this problem since
about February when I moved from hardy to jaunty.

Not sure where this bug is hiding. I'm using Gnome, but I have quite a
bit of trouble with keyboard entry where I suspect scim is the culprit.
Help in pinpointing the issue greatly appreciated.

I have four workspaces. It happens at times (not always, but frequently
enough to be annoying, about 25% of the time, I'd say) that when I use
Ctrl+1 to switch to the first workspace for example, that a string of
11 is continually input into any text field in the active
window on that workspace. It's almost as if the 1 key was stuck (which
is not the case). When I go to Ctrl+2, it will be 22.
Hitting Esc will usually end any further input. But almost any key I
hit (such as backspace for deletion) will output another 1 or 2
character. The character is always the same as the workspace number
that I just switched to.

If I was using VoIP at the time this happened, the partner on the other
end of the line and me will hear a regularly recurring beep sound. I'd
say the frequency is either once or twice per second.

dmesg|grep kbd right after this happened will get me [194092.286510]
atkbd.c: Spurious NAK on isa0060/serio0. Some program might be trying
access hardware directly.

Although similar, I don't think I am seeing bug 124406 for the reasons I
have given there.

2010-08-08 Thread Fabio Marconi
Hello Rolf.
I cannot reproduce this issue, but i think that is probably reconducible to
xserver-xorg-input-kbd, that sometimes seems to miss full control of the inputs
when an application with cursor is focused.
Then, please run in a terminal:
apport collect -p xserver-xorg-input-kbd 376485
Thanks

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 615106] Re: gnome-panel not drawn on i810 Intel Chipset

2010-08-08 Thread Brian Pitts
I'll add that at Free IT Athens we have a couple dozen of these machines
and can reliably reproduce the problem. The panels simply don't appear
when using the integrated intel video. Add a discrete video card and
the panels appear fine. It's not a resolution problem, because the mouse
pointer stops at the edge of the monitors. We can use alt-f2 to run
programs, and they display without any problems.

In dmesg you'll see

[   26.436034] [drm:drm_reclaim_locked_buffers] *ERROR*
reclaim_buffers_locked() deadlock. Please rework this
[   26.436046]  driver to use reclaim_buffers_idlelocked() instead.
[ 26.436050] I will go on reclaiming the buffers anyway.

I don't know if this is related.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 615174] [NEW] Mouse cursor invisible at boot on i852GME

2010-08-08 Thread Scott Testerman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

On cold boot with up to date Kubuntu Maverick, the mouse cursor is
invisible at boot. Moving the mouse around the login screen reveals
that it is still present and is merely invisible. Suspending the
machine at the login screen and then resuming will make the cursor
visible, and the cursor continues to work correctly through the rest of
the session.

This behavior has changed since Maverick Alpha 2, when the cursor did
work correctly at boot. The bug is similar to bug 475917 and bug
508697. It cannot be fixed by removing ~/.config/monitors.xml (because
there isn't one). I am not using the nomodeset or i915.modeset=0
parameters because these were not previously required on Maverick.

  === Problem ===
  After upgrading to Maverick's -14 kernel, the cursor is invisible. Otherwise
it still functions perfectly (hover effects even work on buttons and links), I
just can't see it. I have to enable Show position of pointer when the Control
Key is pressed in System-Preferences-Mouse to use it.

  === Debugging ===
  Tested with the mainline kernels:
  2.6.35 failed
  2.6.35-rc6 passed

  === Workaround ===
  Suspend/Resume
-
- I'd love to git-bisect the commits for the 2.6.35 kernel, but there's no
- documentation on how to do it and I've wasted all of the last two days
- trying to figure out how to compile the thing correctly.
