Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal: apport-collect 601441 This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to Change Non-Private data as it will be adding information to your bug report. Thanks in advance! When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 380126] Re: [Karmic] Touchpad not recognised correctly, synaptics driver not in use
Hey folks, Based on this question https://answers.launchpad.net/dell-recovery/+question/121518 I applied a driver patch to a kernel that I had already been putting together for different reasons. It might be a bit tricky to figure out how to install it, but it is in this ppa: https://launchpad.net/~chogydan/+archive/ppa/ You will have to add the maverick version of the ppa, and then add the linux-ck-image and the linux-ck-headers package of version 2.6.35-17ck I'm just a volunteer, so I don't plan on maintaining this. The best thing would be to test it out, and if it works get it incorporated upstream. -- [Karmic] Touchpad not recognised correctly, synaptics driver not in use https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/380126 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 607490] Re: Xorg fails with NVIDIA(0): Failed to allocate primary buffer: out of memory.
My Ubuntu Maverick on an old AthlonXP PC, with an Asus A7V266-E motherboard and a 7600GS video card from Club 3D worked with the current nvidia drivers version 256.44 until 2010-08-19 20:29:40. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 620478] Re: xorg crashes randomly with seg fault
As I just had another crash (exact same backtrace), I found that it correlates also to these entries in syslog: [ 2610.985055] NVRM: Xid (0007:00): 6, PE0001 ... Interestingly, this problem is logged several times without crashing (might correlate with those micro-freezes I mentioned?), but eventually the NVRM: Xid precedes the death of X and kdm (in this case with a 7 second delay, hm) That machine worked pretty stable until some days ago, but at this point it is not usable for work: on one hand crashes happen frequently, but I cannot see it correlate to any specific action that I could avoid. All this implies that I'm more than willing to provide additional information for analysing the problem. -- xorg crashes randomly with seg fault https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/620478 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

@Krzysztof Matusik I just checked this. There is a nvidia kernel loaded j...@jolo-desktop:~$ lsmod | grep nvidia nvidia 10195198 0 agpgart32075 2 nvidia,via_agp j...@jolo-desktop:~$ dmesg | grep nvidia [ 14.357302] nvidia: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel. Instead of adding nopat in /etc/default/grub and update-grub, I added just one space in /etc/default/grub between quiet and splash and I did the ussally update-grub. # If you change this file, run 'update-grub' afterwards to update # /boot/grub/grub.cfg. @Søren Holm I just tried your suggestion several times. Thus with only one space between quiet and splash, and editing mode in grub while booting, change nothing, and press CTRL-x to boot. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 616023] Re: nVidia card : X won't start since 1.9 update, no screens found
I was able to work around this issue today by editing the xorg.conf file to use the 'nv' driver, which at least allowed me to boot regularly. I then used the Administration Hardware Drivers applet to install the (latest) nvidia-current drivers, which allowed me to restart fine. I now have full nvidia drivers, and my xorg.conf is identical to what it was before the upgrade. I'm going to assume the Hardware Drivers applet updated one of the relevant packages or performed some other magic that made it work, but I have no idea what it was. -- nVidia card : X won't start since 1.9 update, no screens found https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/616023 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570879] Re: OpenGL graphic errors in google earth
Me too ! :-) I didn't try disabling kms, but am confident it would solve it ... but i don't feel like messing it this now ... need a system that just works (tm) ... so ... as the k in kms means kernel ... i think kms is under active development since quiet some time (middle major), so somebody (?? *look around* ... kms gurus ??? ... ) could start sorting out aesthetic issues like that one now ... :-) ... would be defenetly cool to have googleearth working properly ... that bug is quiet old ( 1 year for me) ! If anybody needs any further infos (logs, dumps, screenshots, whatever) I'm available for help. kernel modesetting code is just out of reach for my mind to grasp but i'll be happily applying kernel patches such if somebody throws one at me. cheers ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu) -- OpenGL graphic errors in google earth https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/570879 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 36812] [NEW] Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Nick Andrik (andrikos): I have Ctrl+Shift set to layout switch and press ctrl+shift+N (to open new Terminal or new tab in Opera) -- as a result I have my keyboard layout switched. This happens because Ubuntu (or XOrg?) change layout on key press instead of release and do not match layout hotkeys with application shortcuts. MS Windows do. If layout change hotkeys is pressed with another key this must be treated as application shortcut and layout must not be changed. Combined with shortcut bugs in some Linux applications [Bug 2561] this makes keyboard shortcuts nearly unusable in default bilingual configuration. ** Affects: gnome-control-center Importance: Unknown Status: Invalid ** Affects: xorg-server Importance: Unknown Status: In Progress ** Affects: control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Assignee: Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) Status: Invalid ** Tags: patch -- Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/36812 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is a direct subscriber. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 36812] Re: Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts
Let just me stress the importance of this bug once more, cause English-speaking users may not readily appreciate it. A large part of non-English people use at least two keyboard layouts: one for their native language and one for Latin script: web addresses, programming, whatever. A common way to switch layouts (wherever it comes from) is pressing Ctrl+Shift or Alt+Shift. If you use any of these in Ubuntu, you lose it for all shorcuts. Ctrl-shift arrows don't work, etc etc. We are talking about huge productivity impairment - the loss of keyboard shortcuts - in all apps systemwide, for whole countries. -- Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/36812 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is a direct subscriber. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 622068] [NEW] [GM45] Strong lines in some parts of Shareaza and SQLYog
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I have just upgrade to Ubuntu 10.10 and found that some lines in SQLYog and Shareaza while using Wine looks more intense than they have to be. I have made a regression test in Wine and found that this commit trigger the problem: c29cf0591976f96c3adb30c3c3b6db59f4983251 is the first bad commit commit c29cf0591976f96c3adb30c3c3b6db59f4983251 Author: Roderick Colenbrander thunderbir...@gmail.com Date: Tue Apr 6 19:07:25 2010 +0200 winex11: Add support for 32-bit DDBs. :04 04 73b8486e86ccd609ea2f0c8cf0c920b6ec3783dd 04bcf74196ee257fa4b8391041c627b89e6cbffe Mdlls I have reported the bug to Wine ( http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23098 ) but after testing on a Radeon HD3450 running FGLRX and with a Radeon HD 4670 and the open source driver (xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.13.0-1.fc13.x86_64 and Mesa 7.8.1) they were unable to reproduce the problem, when I was using Ubuntu 10.04 I didn't have this issue (Only when I installed the xorg-edgers PPA). So my conclusion is that this must be an issue in the Intel driver. There are screenshots in the Wine bug and some more information.
