Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 656067] Re: Wacom Tablet mouse-wheel always scrolls down

2010-10-18 Thread falcaf
Bonjour,

Well after ./configure you must run make to compile sources.
After that, you will find wacom.ko in /linuxwacom-0.8.8-10/src/2.6.30/

Be sure you have all packages needed for compiling like build-essential
on ubuntu, but packages may differ regarding distributions...

cordialement,

Le 18/10/2010 06:16, Jesse Matties a écrit :
Thank you for this solution. I entered:

 ./configure --enable-wacom

 It said:
Your wacom.ko will be available under
  /home/user/linuxwacom-0.8.8-10/src/2.6.30

 but: Makefile.in, wacom.h, wacom_sys.c, wacom_wac.c, wacom_wac.h, were the
 only files there.
 Am I missing something?

 thanks,

2010-10-18 Thread Jesse Michael
I'm guessing this won't fix the problem entirely, but when I try to play
relatively large videos like the 1024x436 version of that Sintel movie,
I'm getting this SEGV--

A quick look in libvo/vo_vdpau.c from the mplayer source shows that

First I installed the 260.19.06 drivers via jockey, restarted my system
and got the following kernel oops:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 607399] Re: Loading the nvidia driver causes kernel oops in maverick

2010-10-18 Thread jsgaarde
Just for the record, here are my results from testing nvidia's drivers
260.19.06 and 260.19.12:

Version 260.19.06
===

First I installed the 260.19.06 drivers via jockey, restarted my system
and got the following kernel oops: (see attachments: kern.log_260.19.06)

I uninstalled the 260.19.06 driver by doing an apt-get remove nvidia-*
--purge.

Version 260.19.12
===

Then I tried the newest drivers from Nvidia by downloading 260.19.12
from their site. I tried to start X and got the following error: (see
attachments: messages_260.19.12,kern.log_260.19.12, nvidia-bug-
report.log_260.19.12):

Best regards Jakob

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 41301] Re: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically

2010-10-18 Thread carloslp
Same problem here.

I did a fresh installation of maverick 64-bits and the left click of the
mouse get stuck randomly and makes it unusable. I have to unplug it to
get the touchpad work and if I plug it again the problem gets back and
the left button is stuck.

This don't happen on terminal console with gmp so definitively it is a
xorg problem.

I downgraded to xserver-xorg-input-evdev_2.3.2-6build1_amd64.deb as
suggested and the problem is fixed. I have the usb mouse working as
expected now.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 662545] Re: package fglrx (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: fglrx kernel module failed to build :::!!!ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT NOTE!!!::: When using Wine the default Mavrick

2010-10-18 Thread kujax2...@hotmail.com
The perfect test is Final Fantasy XIV via Wine 1.3.5. The game worked
fine if i install the 10.9 drivers, but if i reboot X will die so i'm
forced to use the drivers in Synaptic Package manager which are version
2:8.780-0ubuntu2 which are indeed what the problem isIs there any
plans to have this problem fixed so the 2:8.780-0ubuntu2 drivers will
work with wine properly like 10.9 originally can?

Wine is not the issue here because until i restart by installing the
10.9 drivers via ATI the games work fine, once i install the default
maverick drivers via Synaptic Package manager BAM, i'm screwed with
wine.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 301958] Re: [needs-packaging] no working driver for sis 671/771 video cards

2010-10-18 Thread Pander
With a fresh Maverick installation without this driver, my laptop screen
is disabled when I boot with an external screen. After installing this
driver, and booting again with external screen, which works fine, my
laptop screen shows many coloured vertical lines in a reasonable static
way that can burn into the laptop screen.

The laptop also has a special button for enabling and disabling laptop
screen and external screen, but that doesn't work now but used to work
with Karmic and this driver. However, the special buttons for brightness
do work. One other issue is that Monitor Preferences in System /
Preferences unaware of my screens.

This results in the following questions:
- How to have Monitor Preferences be aware of my screens? Detection does not
work. Can this be fixed? What workaround exists by manually enriching
xorg.conf? What tools or websites can I use to find out the proper refresh
rates?
- How to get the laptop screen working properly when booting with external
monitor also to prevent burn in?
- How to get the special button for enabling and disabling screens working?

I hope these issues can be solved. Who would like to help to improve the
driver or manual can all to enjoy?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 508752] Re: [gm45] Mouse moves erratically after executing xrandr --panning

2010-10-18 Thread Norbert Nemec
Yet another update:
After a kernel update from 2.6.32 to 2.6.35-22-generic, the nomodeset option is
completely broken (X-server cannot set any reasonable mode any more) Now, I had
to give up panning completely.
In my current setup, I am using --scale on the smaller screen. This makes it
just barely usable but at least good enough to recover without the large screen
connected.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 654876] Re: [Sandybridge] Attempting to use Xv textured video hangs the system.

2010-10-18 Thread Robert Hooker
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

xserver-xorg-video-intel does not have support for Sandybridge Xv video
acceleration, but it advertises support and attempting to use it is
causing a system hang. Given that these devices will be released before
11.04 is released, I believe it would be in our best interest to disable
Xv for Maverick for a better user experience. The change only affects
these specific devices (covered by the IS_GEN6 macro) so the regression
  potential is extremely low.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 648671] Re: Touchpad on Thinkpad T400s doesn't support two-finger scroll

2010-10-18 Thread Alexander Hunziker
This turns out to be a combination of several issues:

The kernel driver likely does not have a driver for the touchpad which
supports multiple fingers. The touchpad however does support reporting
fingerwidth and can therefore be used with two-finger emulation.

Two-finger emulation cannot be turned on using the Gnome Mouse capplet.
See Gnome bug #625163

Even if one turns on two-finger emulation using the xinput interface,
two-finger scrolling does not work. This is because, on Ubuntu, the
default value for the property Synaptics Two-Finger Pressure is 280,
which is much too high. A Fedora 14 Live CD i booted for testing, had a
default value of 29 for that property. Indeed, lowering that value under
Ubuntu makes Two-finger scrolling work. See the upstream bug for more
info.

I don't know why this pressure default value is wrong on Ubuntu. It
could be due do a different synaptics version, or due to a patch in
Ubuntu?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 659154] Re: intel video external monitor resolution problem

2010-10-18 Thread Matthew Carroll
I believe I'm seeing this same bug. Mirrored both screens show the full
visable area. Non-mirrored, 1 or both screens show only part of the area
that should be visible. A work-around (although very much not ideal) for
me seems to be to position the laptop screen below the external screen
in the layout. However, it should be to the side (same as the relative
position of the screens on my desk).

This problem (assuming it is the same bug) is discussed here:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 662699] [NEW] documented x.org.conf module option is ignored

2010-10-18 Thread C . Böckler
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

With my IBM Thinkpad I used to have external monitors attached with the
notebook lid closed. After upgrading from Debian Lenny to 10.04 and even now
after further upgrading to 10.10 the option IgnoreLidStatus in xorg.conf is
ignored or at least not recognized, because in Xorg.0.log it says:
RADEON(0): Option IgnoreLidStatus is not used

Immediately afterwards it says
RADEON(0): Option Bla is not used
because I inserted a nonsense option named Bla for testing purposes. Thus it
reacts the same way to a documented option as it does with a nonsense option.
That shouldn't happen I guess.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 662699] Re: documented x.org.conf module option is ignored

2010-10-18 Thread C . Böckler
I forgot to mention the consequence of all this.

I am not able to disable LVDS (internal display), even when lid is
closed. Thus I have XGA resolution when booting up at home with a big
screen externally attached, because that's what the internal screen has.
It is very annoying watching scaled up XGA on 21 inches.
