To summarise: Had similar issues[1] when closing the screen with v10.04. Now after a fresh install and all updates (as of 4/11/2010), the splash screen flashes, goes blank, locks up and gets hot. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 664646] Re: system cannot display extended desktop on Samsung 2333sw
Sorry for the delay in responding! The next thing to check here would be the 2.6.37-rc1 kernel available here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/v2.6.37-rc1-maverick/ . That includes a(nother!) re- working of the monitor frequency code. The radeon.new_pll option has been removed from the new kernel - as upstream is confident that the new code should work better - so you will need to remove it from your grub configuration. If the new kernel still shows this problem, then the dmesg log would again be useful. The logs you attached previously didn't have drm.debug=0x04 set - you can see this on the “kernel command line” message: ... [0.00] Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-25-generic root=UUID=4b588e34-b43c-4f8a-bd71-3abedbf91031 ro quiet splash radeon.new_pll=0 ... [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 670473] Re: Several problems with brightness control
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg I have several problems with brightness control on my HP Compaq 6715s since Maverick. I haven't had any of these problems in Lucid except for one. The problems are: (1) Brightness lowers itself after a while and does not switch back to the level it had before when you move the mouse. Until I installed todays updates for Maverick this worked without problems. (2) When problem (1) occured or sometimes without problem (1) occuring it is not possible to raise brightness to its maximum level. You can sometimes get it to its maximum if you lower the level and increase it a few times. (3) Sometimes brightness can not be increased. Same workaround as in (2) helps: lower and try to increase it a few times. + (4) When unplugging power supply brightness decreases like it should but + it does not go back to the previous level when you plug it back in. + Please let me know if you need any more information or logs. Yes on the nvidia driver. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 582523] Re: Analog tuner does not work on boot, but restarting cx8800 allows it to work
The situation has changed a bit since I have upgraded to 10.10 I no longer need to run the script to get the card to function. I need only stop the mythTV back end, and run: mplayer tv://32 -tv device=/dev/video0:driver=v4l2:chanlist=us-cable:alsa:adevice=hw.1,0:amode=1:audiorate=48000:forceaudio:volume=100:immediatemode=0:norm=NTSC-M This does not mean that everything is working. I am unable to use "Watch TV" in MythTV with the analog tuner. TVTime will show video, but not play sound, and only works when mythTV back end is stopped Zapping requires I set NTSC-M-JP to get a proper picture NTSC-M gets me a noisy black and white picture, and I am located in the US. Also, Zapping does not have an option for the cable standard I am using. The one that works of the two that are available will not tune some of the channels. So while it appears the bug I reported is fixed, the analog tuner is still unusable. -- Analog tuner does not work on boot, but restarting cx8800 allows it to work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/582523 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-v4l in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 670992] [NEW] Blank Screen After Booting With Kernel 2.6.35-22-generic In Ubuntu 10.10
Public bug reported: I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 (no graphics drivers installed) on an Asus F3Ka laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 graphics card and then upgraded to 10.10 through Update Manager. Everything worked fine in 10.04 before I formatted but now whenever I boot with kernel 2.6.35-22-generic under 10.10 I get a blank screen (the screen appears to shutoff) this even happens using Recovery Mode. If however I boot with kernel 2.6.32-25-generic everything boots up as normal. If I highlight kernel 2.6.35-22-generic under the GRUB menu, press "e", delete "quiet splash" and enter: "radeon.modeset=0" then everything appears to boot but it always boots to the command line. I also tried "sudo apt-get install --reinstall ubuntu-desktop" under kernel 2.6.35-22-generic's command line and that did not work either. This appears to be a compatibility issue between the graphic's card and new kernel, is there a fix for this. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 670973] [NEW] Auto-focus of windows after "emtpy trash" action
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Let's say you have some windows open: 1 firefox, 1 Open Office, etc. After "empty trash" action, where the mouse move the window got focus with a sort of auto-focus on mouse hover. That can be stopped only clicking something. So, if one don't take care of this, while writing down a password or something else, can ends written elsewhere because of an involuntary mouse movement. Asked on italian Ubuntu Forum, I collect info from other users: This happen on 32 and 64 bit systems and with or without Compiz. And has nothing to do with the Gnome window option auto-focus (that is not active). At least! I think I successfully integrated the patch into the 0.8.6 code. You may find attached the fixed wallpaper.c To self-patch your system you need to download the source for the compiz-fuzion-plugins-extra package, change the wallpaper.c module, recompile (you can recompile just this plugin, "make" into src/wallpaper directory ) and substitute the original libwallpaper.so libwallpaper.ar libwallpaper.la inside /usr/lib/compiz with the new modules (the last two are created inside the src/wallpaper/.libs directory ). You need also compiz-dev module and the usual compiling tools. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 526572] Re: X session log out unexpectedly
The original reoprter (nbl) did not provide enough information to definitively point to a specific error. Subsequent commenters have kept this bug alive but there's not really definitive evidence they have the same problem or are just experiencing a "random X session log out in KDE" (which could happen for any number of reasons). ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Won't Fix -- X session log out unexpectedly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/526572 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
