[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 666601] Re: Xorg does not dump core (via file nor Apport) on crash
Thanks for that, Gustavo. I would just add two things to your instructions: 1. ulimit -c unlimited at some point, so that ulimit doesn't prevent a core file from being generated; 2. Remember to specify the display, e.g. DISPLAY=:0 gnome-session :-) Even with all that, if Apport is enabled, you don't get a core dump. The only way you get a core is if Apport is disabled (i.e. core_pattern specifies a file instead of a pipe). Very odd. I finally got a core, force-fed it after-the-fact into Apport, and got bug #671293. -- Xorg does not dump core (via file nor Apport) on crash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/01 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 660596] Re: Black screen after installing Nvidia drivers on 10.10
I have the exact problems of the original poster. I install the latest driver for my 8400 gs card, reboot. And then you get the purple screen but instead of Ubuntu, it says 10.10. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 487749] Re: trackpad-doublefinger-scroll
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Scrolling using the right and lower edge of the trackpad makes the area of the trackpad actually usable to move the mouse very small. Add to this that when you're trying to move a window as in bug #39328 if you press to low on the trackpad it makes you scroll between windows. The same problem occurs in KDE if you select a window in the KDE-bar and then move your mouse up to the program, but hit the the lower parts of the trackpad. Replacing the edge scrolling way of scrolling with the two finger scroll will solve both these bugs and is very commonly used with modern devices, such as mobile phones, thus comes very natural to a new user. This function/way of scrolling is already implemented and should be enabled by default. + + + --- + Architecture: amd64 + DRM.card0.HDMI_Type_A.1: + status: disconnected + enabled: disabled + dpms: On + modes: + edid-base64: + DRM.card0.LVDS.1: + status: connected + enabled: enabled + dpms: On + modes: 1366x768 1280x720 1152x768 1024x768 800x600 848x480 720x480 640x480 + edid-base64: + DRM.card0.VGA.1: + status: disconnected + enabled: disabled + dpms: On + modes: + edid-base64: + DRM.card1.LVDS.2: + status: connected + enabled: enabled + dpms: On + modes: 1366x768 + edid-base64: AP///wBMozAwAAATAQOAJBV4CtDFlVdalCYdUFQBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBXh1W3FAAFjAwICUAWMIQAAAZDwAAAB60AnQA/gBTQU1TVU5HCiAgICAg/gAxNTZBVDExLUEwMQogAF0= + DRM.card1.VGA.2: + status: disconnected + enabled: disabled + dpms: On + modes: + edid-base64: + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 + DkmsStatus: bcmwl, 5.60.48.36+bdcom, 2.6.35-22-generic, x86_64: installed + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat - Release amd64 (20101007) + Lsusb: + Bus 002 Device 002: ID 8087:0020 Intel Corp.
