*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 626967 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/626967 ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel The problem was with video flash in firefox. I have left it in full screen for a few minutes and screensaver was launched. After pressing a key a could see the stopped frame from flash video, but sound was going well. I was not able to exit that full screen or to stop the flash somehow. Moving to a screen with Ctr+Alt+1 and killing all firefox processes I was able only to stop also the sound but the frame from flash video remained on screen. Also, over that video frame appeared the Xubuntu buttons in the up-right corner related to battery status, wifi and sound volume but they was not active. Ihad to move back to 1st screen in terminal and to shutdown the machine. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 657990] Re: System freeze when i'am not moving the mouse or typing.
In my case 'nolapci_timer' alone did not fix the issue. It boots as quickly as 'intle_idle.max_cstate=0' but has more frequent pauses once it has started. Using 'nolapci_timer clocksource=jiffies' does seem to have resolved the problem, however I will test it out some more and report back if problems persist. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 308191] Re: Multitouch support not available for Synaptics touchpads v7.2
I have reverted back to using two-finger emulation, because I just can't get used to two-finger scrolling with the fingers apart, that is really unconvenient (same thing as with Windows and official Synaptics driver). synclient -m 100 reads as follows : two fingers apart : 2 fingers registered, width 5 two fingers joining : 1 finger registered, width 15 So I understand why two-finger scrolling won't work with the fingers joining : they register as one finger only. I just don't feel comfortable with the fingers apart, so I am going back to my emulation script. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/308191 Title: Multitouch support not available for Synaptics touchpads v7.2 ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 683459] [NEW] hyper and super keys are mapped to the same modifier
You have been subscribed to a public bug: After upgrading to lucid, I see: $ xmodmap -pm xmodmap: up to 4 keys per modifier, (keycodes in parentheses): shift Shift_L (0x32), Shift_R (0x3e) lockCaps_Lock (0x42) control Control_L (0x25), Control_R (0x69) mod1Alt_L (0x40), Alt_R (0x6c), Meta_L (0xcd) mod2Num_Lock (0x4d) mod3 mod4Super_L (0x85), Super_R (0x86), Super_L (0xce), Hyper_L (0xcf) mod5ISO_Level3_Shift (0x5c), Mode_switch (0xcb) But it makes no sense for Super and Hyper keys to both be associated with mod4. I see mod3 is free. Why not have the Hyper_L key on mod3? It also looks odd to have two Super_L keys in the map, and to have Meta and Alt on mod1. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 684916] [NEW] [RV280] Guest session screen corruption
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati When I click on Guest session three things can happen: 1. The Guest session is started and everything works correctly. This happened only when I tried booting ubuntu with very few Startup Applications enabled and I started the Guest session without other applications running. 2. This is the most common situation. The Guest session is started and works correctly, but the screen on VT8 only shows frozen garbage (i.e. corrupted fragments of what was present on the screen in VT7, see attached images 01 and 02). I can't see anything in the Guest session but everything works: I can switch back to VT7 and I can even close the Guest session using blindly my mouse and keyboard. I noticed that when I press CTRL-ALT-F7, after leaving the corrupted VT8 screen and just before entering VT7, I can see for a moment an image of the Guest session screen updated and without any corruption. Usually the mouse pointer never gets corrupted and behaves correctly, but sometimes instead of the mouse pointer I see a square of garbage. Sometimes the system suddenly hangs of reboots. 3. It seems that the Guest session is starting, but the screen becomes black and a mesmerizing waterfall of light slowly starts drawing some scary grey clouds on the screen (see attached image 03). The system completely hangs and the sysrq keys don't have any effect. However, after hibernating or suspending, nothing happens when these keys are pressed. Also doing: echo X /proc/acpi/video/VID/LCD0/brightness does not work. When pressing the hotkeys, I can see the value of this proc entry change correctly though. I can still change the screen brightness by switching to a terminal using CTRL+ALT+F1, and use the brightness hotkeys there, and then switch back to the X session. It is like the brightness value is being changed in the system, but the event is not signalled to the screen. For example if I use the hotkeys to change to brightness value from full to lowest, and then go to the terminal and use the hotkey, the screen immediatly jumps from full brightness to lowest brightness (eg. stored value is applied). Also if the screen is on full brightness, and I adjust the brightness to lowest and reboot, the system will boot up with low brightness. Eg. the brightness value I see in /proc/acpi/video/VID/LCD0/brightness is applied to the screen after reboot. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 308191] Re: Multitouch support not available for Synaptics touchpads v7.2
Sorry, I thought you implied that another bug shouldn't be opened since this one already exists. The freedesktop bug should probably not be linked from this bug (nor should it link back to this bug) since they are not the exact same thing: this one is for multitouch support, the freedesktop one is about an issue with multitouch emulation (which wouldn't be needed if proper multitouch was available, and the bug would thus be fixed by implementing multitouch as requested by this bug, but is still a different issue and should be kept separate). However note that carmixx's problem is not that in the freedesktop bug; he refers to scroll jumpiness, not cursor jumpiness.
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 562005] Re: Backlight controls of laptops with NVIDIA NVS and Quadro FX 880M GPUs no longer function while using proprietary drivers
I tried commenting out the EnableBrightnessControl=1 line and I'm unable to control the brightness. The on-screen popup shows me that the buttons are working and I'm changing the value, but screen brightness does not change. So please consider my testimony in bug #613638 as incorrect, this does not seem to have something to do with the hibernate/suspend. (Unless attaching an external monitor influences this behaviour. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 643895] Re: nvidia propietary driver fails to load X with geforce 310M
Thanks Yorik and Philip. Finally it worked. First I tried to uninstall nvidia drivers as Philip said by executing the installer with the option --uninstall. After this I reeboted my machine and the desktop had some weird behavior such as not top bar (minimize, maximize and so on) on the windows or alt+tab didn't worked. So I had to reinstall the nvidia drivers to recover my dekstop. After read Yorik post I tried by first uninstalling libgl1-mesa-dri and libgl1-mesa-glx. Then I uninstalled nvidia drivers using the installer and rebooted my machine. I started again and stopped the gnome dekstop using an non graphical environment (CTRL + ALT + F1) with sudo service gdm stop. So, installed libgl1-mesa-dri and libgl1-mesa-glx with sudo apt.get install libgl1-mesa-dri libgl1-mesa-glx, rebooted again and it worked!! Now I can start Stellarium :-) Thanks in advance. I am with 10.04 and have no plans to jeopardize stability by upgrading it. My source for xserver is one year behind some of the patches Bryce mentioned. The latter do not build. Applying patches/or editing is not possible as I see it. Apparently, the patched files are present in my linux source directory. I was able to build 49d2ccab2a82083110fe796636f3f91ba8c31237 (version 2.9.99.901) though. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682712 Title: x server crashes with: [drm:i915_gem_mmap_gtt_ioctl] *ERROR* Attempting to mmap a purgeable buffer ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 626967 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/626967 Sorry about the delay, I have enough information here to be sure that the problem is a WAIT_FOR_EVENT hang on framebuffer resize and am duping it to the master bug accordingly. The fix is included in the latest natty packages already and will hopefully be available in maverick- proposed soon, but if you need a fix as soon as possible backported packages can be obtained in this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 626967 MASTER: Hang in MI_WAIT_FOR_EVENT on framebuffer switch. * You can subscribe to bug 626967 by following this link: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/626967/+subscribe -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/656243 Title: [i945gme] GPU lockup 846fb991 (IPEHR: 0x0182) on multimonitor resize ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
