[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 422202] Re: [P4M900] Laptop TFT flickers after wake up from S3 sleep

2010-12-16 Thread Bartosz
Hi Gabor.

Check if this problem was solved in latest openchrome revision.

Please build/install the latest openchrome driver
The detail build instruction for Ubuntu/Debian is available at:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/OpenChrome

Next attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file.

I think it could be Linux kernel related problem, for example:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pm-utils/+bug/574573
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pm-utils/+bug/677440

Your test packages do appear, based on a small number of logouts, to
solve the problem. We'll run it here and keep an eye on performance and
such. This is on the same system that suffers from Bug #660152, so
we'll see if it helps there too.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 557599] Re: KDE desktop crashes out to a command line screen

2010-12-16 Thread Steve King
The other bug does not sound like the bug I was having - "my" bug was
random crashes and not related to logging out. However, whatever was
causing it seems to have gone away now that I am using Kubuntu 10.10.
And interestingly now I do get the very occasional (2 or 3 times since
October) crash on log out, possibly as described in the other bug. So
perhaps the underlying problem still exists but other stuff makes it
express itself differently.

I'll have a look at the other bug in detail and see whether the symptoms
are actually the same. I consider trying the fix, but log out crashes
are so infrequent for me now that it would be hard to know that they'd
been fixed completely.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 655078] Re: Beta 10.10 Nvidia update broke Sony Vaio VPCF136FM installation

2010-12-16 Thread Michael E. Adams
pal,

Could you explain what the "ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates" is and why
Ubuntu hasn't provided an update with this new driver? Is Ubuntu-x-swat
working with Ubuntu for a solution or is this just someone's personal
solution? If this driver is installed, will it update properly with
future kernel updates or must it be reinstalled manually?

Thanks,
Mike

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 655078] Re: Beta 10.10 Nvidia update broke Sony Vaio VPCF136FM installation

2010-12-16 Thread Michael E. Adams
pal,

Thanks for the response. I see that these personal packages are not
supported by Ubuntu (which is fine and I thank the folks developing in
this ppa for their hard work). If this works for folks, that is good.
Since I am operational with your prior driver links and my posted
script, I prefer to wait for Ubuntu to provide their supported fix. That
is, I am waiting for the opportunity to test one (hint, hint Ubuntu)!

Thanks,
Mike
