After upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10, I still have this problem. Are there any news related to it? I was also wondering why this bug has low priority. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 704880] [NEW] Xinerama gets wrong screen information
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Well, I only think that this has to do with Xinerama. I dock my Dell E6410 laptop. Docking station has a DVI monitor connected. Ubuntu Lucid puts the DVI monitor on the right, while it is physically on the right. So I move it to the left and a bit up as the lower border of the screens are on the same level. Now when I maximize window, it takes 3/4 of the monitor's screen or spans through two screens. See attached photo. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 704944] [NEW] Mouse control gone crazy
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg My mouse control has been going crazy lately. This is on a MacBook Pro, June 2009 model, running Maverick. Symptoms: * Phantom right-button clicks, popping up unexpected menus and creating unwanted folders in Nautilus. * Mouse clicks appear to be ignored. * Attempts to drag an icon on my desktop turn into drag-select boxes. * Attempts to drag an icon on my desktop creates unexpected links to applications instead. * ubuntu-bug claims it can't capture my mouse. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585923] Re: [gm45] xserver completely freezes each time when executing paraview
I am having the same problem when running any graphics intense program on 2.6.35-24-generic kernel, Maverick. I am able to switch to a TTY (albeit very slowly, and the TTY is being spammed with that error). However, even after running `sudo restart gdm' I cannot get to a functional GUI - black screen. I tried updating to xorg-edgers PPA; however, these new drivers leave me not able to start Compiz and the window list, gnome-workspace, and Show desktop panel applets crash. I have to stop the program wnck-applet because it is taking up a lot of processing power due to what seems to be an infinite loop of creating new windows that say Starting ... When I switch to TTY with the xorg-edgers drivers, I get the same log output as previously mentioned (hangcheck timer elapsed, render head ctl reset to 0). I would really appreciate a fix to this bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/585923 Title: [gm45] xserver completely freezes each time when executing paraview ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 687738] Re: nvidia driver shows magnet distortion-like screen corruption and tearing, particularly when switching workspaces
Didier, aha interesting. So the next question is if it is a coding error in the unity plugin, or a fault in the driver that unity simply exercises. We probably should rule out a coding error first, before bothering NVIDIA about it, or gain a better understanding of what in the driver is causing the trouble. The next step might be to try to narrow down to a test case, such as a stripped down unity with just the code present that leads to the bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/687738 Title: nvidia driver shows magnet distortion-like screen corruption and tearing, particularly when switching workspaces ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Just a tip for all ubuntu users, if it is not mentioned somewere above: Before starting up mixxx, make sure you have compiz disabled. To do so, turning it off, or setting the visual effects to off, isn't enough cause compiz window manager would still run in the background. Just hit Alt + F2 and type , metacity --replace. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 638025] Re: Cannot disable 'tap to touch' on touchpad Dell Inspiron 1545
I have the same laptop model (Inspiron 1545), which I bought from Dell with Ubuntu 9.10 pre-installed. Everything worked until the touchpad broke in late November 2010. However, my symptoms are slightly different: I can't use the right touchpad button but can move the cursor. Tapping is extremely sensitive and can't be disabled. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 705286] [NEW] Problem in setting GLX option with nvidia 96.43.19 with xserver-xorg-core 1.9.0-0ubuntu7.1.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-core I have installed nvidia driver version 96.43.19 from nvidia.com because of the well know problem between xserver v1.9 and older nvidia driver shipped with maverick. Up until 29th December everything was working fine but then I saw an update of xserver-xorg-core package and installed that. The GDM starts fine and shows the initial login screen but when I try to log into the system, the session does not start and it again takes me back to login screen. After looking at the error log it seemed to me that there was an issue with GLX option and sure enough after I disabled GLX option things started working fine. Of course with glx disabled none of the cool desktop effects work. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 10.10 Release:10.10 $ apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-core xserver-xorg-core: Installed: 2:1.9.0-0ubuntu7.1 Candidate: 2:1.9.0-0ubuntu7.1 $lspci 04:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV18 [GeForce4 MX 4000] (rev c1) ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: glx nvidia xserver-xorg-core -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/705286 Title: Problem in setting GLX option with nvidia 96.43.19 with xserver-xorg- core 1.9.0-0ubuntu7.1. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
