[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 706598] [NEW] System boot fail after upgrade to xserver-xorg-core (2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7.5)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-core After applying the update above on ubuntu 10.04 with fglrx driver the system fails to boot. Downgrading to previous version does not fix the problem. I tried different version of ATI driver same result. However, doing the upgrade and reinstalling the flgrx driver in shell mode fix the problem. It must be that some post installation step are missing to generate the new module for flgrx. Thanks. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 706693] [NEW] [gm45] GPU lockup 6539011c when opening lid
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Previously when resuming the display would hang. When I did ctrl+f1 I immediately saw error messages relating to the i915 graphics chip. So I enabled apport to run constantly. After I suspended/resumed apport informed me that it had an error to send, which is this bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 379313] Re: Handling NextWindow Touchscreen (multitouch) via the nwfermi (proprietary) driver
@Chase, Thanks for the info. I saw your evdev hooks into grails and have been testing the same with my driver but in the future hope to be able to use evdev directly. @Bryce, cheers @All, I am closing this bug now. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 653714] Re: Garbage on X display w/ Dell D800 wuxga nouveau driver (Nvidia GeForce4 Ti 4200 Go AGP rev a1 [NV28])
I have exactly the same problem as the original poster, also with a D800 and wuxga 1920x1200 If it helps, I have noticed that sometimes my screen shows correctly (the graphics are fine and so is the cursor), perhaps when I log back on after the screensaver kicked in. So it seems to me that everything needed to render correctly is likely installed. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 706783] [NEW] Xorg crash
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Loaded 10.10 from update/upgrade process (very time consuming), and Live CD. Same symptoms. I expected to use Ubuntu Desktop after providing a Correct Password. Instead, after briefly seeing a desktop almost completely appear, the display re-exhibits the login screen. I expected the Ubuntu Safe Mode to fail similarly. Instead, It logged in but there were GUI features that were locked (User modification dialogs, delete users). Following suggestions from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs startX indicated xserver already running... was able to adduser, but after reboot - sudo password was disabled for added user and About Me window was first noted package that failed to open. Other packages were fine, password using packages failed to open. upon 10.10 reload from Live CD - login loop occured for Ubuntu Desktop option - accepted login/password - opened Desktop - returned to login screen recovery mode option - accepted login/password - startx - Server already active. - ran ubuntu-bug - noted following line in gdm log //Error:comand['gksu','-D','Apport','--','cat','/var/log/gdm/:log'] failed with exit code 3: Error copying '/var/run/gdm/auth-for-LOGINID-Qrtggbase'to'/tmp/libgksu-S1XlEt':Permission denied// mention was made of backtracing - let me know if you need further information.
