You have been subscribed to a public bug: When playing a movie in high-definition Blu-ray disc I noticed that the image was not a smooth playback, they had stops with vdpau activated, this did not happen with ubuntu 10:04, to watch the video I used the GUI SMPlayer, the blu-ray that was watching was Madonna Sticky Sweet Tour, I'm using the version of ubuntu 64bit, I would say that I ripped the blu-ray with makemkv to see this bluray on ubuntu, this program makes no such conversion Video is equal to the original bluray. on ubuntu 10.04 I use the same nvidia driver I hope this helps in solving the problem. if you need to test related to this problem I will have available to do more tests. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 710630] Re: fglrx apport hook AssertionError in __setitem__
I just got to see the (kind of) duplicate bug 716143. This assertion and (hasattr(v[0], 'isalnum') or hasattr(v[0], 'read' would hit if the value that gets passed is neither a string nor a file object. In particular, it would error out like this if you try to pass None. This can happen if the command you are calling produces an error: def command_output_quiet(command_list): ''' On errors, quell error message and just return empty string ''' log = command_output(command_list) if log[:5] == Error: return None return log [...] ust = command_output_quiet([ '/usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test', '-p']) #ust = ust.replace('\x1b','').replace('[0;38;48m','').replace('[1;32;48m','') report['UnitySupportTest'] = ust I. e. if the command produces any error, ust is None, and the assignment to the report dictionary fails. Some invocations of command_output_quiet are guarded with an if, some others call programs which really Should Not Fail (tm), so these are probably okay. I think the best approach here is to use command_output(), as we really want to know about the actual error if unity_support_test fails. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released = Triaged ** Summary changed: - fglrx apport hook AssertionError in __setitem__ + apport hook AssertionError in __setitem__ when trying to assign None value -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/710630 Title: apport hook AssertionError in __setitem__ when trying to assign None value ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 725697] [NEW] Crash during bootup
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I get this periodically when I boot up my laptop. It happens often enough to be a problem (maybe 1/3 of boots result in this). I have attached a picture of the crash. You will see in the picture I have highlighted the problems in red. At the bottom of the picture, I have highlighted two indicator lights on my laptop that flash when this crash occurs. These indicator lights flash green, and are the Caps Lock and the other I'm not sure about. 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System - About Ubuntu 11.04 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center Xorg: Installed: 1:7.6~3ubuntu8 Candidate: 1:7.6~3ubuntu8 3) What you expected to happen Normal bootup. 4) What happened instead boot crashed - wasn't able to get it to continue ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: xorg 1:7.6~3ubuntu8 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-1.28-generic 2.6.38-rc2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-1-generic i686 Architecture: i386 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz DRM.card0.DVI.D.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: Off modes: edid-base64: DRM.card0.LVDS.1: status: connected enabled: enabled dpms: On modes: 1024x768 edid-base64: AP///wAyDAAPAQOAHhd4Cgggl1dSiCgiUFQBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBZBkAQEEAJjAYiDYAMOQQAAAYZBkAQEEAJjAYiDYAMOQQ/gBUTDU3NQAxNTBYMDkK/gDYyLiwiGBIKAEBCiAgAJI= DRM.card0.VGA.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: Off modes: edid-base64: Date: Sat Feb 26 13:35:50 2011 DistUpgraded: Yes, recently upgraded Log time: 2011-02-04 18:07:51.411927 DistroCodename: natty DistroVariant: ubuntu GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:27a2] (rev 03) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:01d4] Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:01d4] MachineType: Dell Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 652467] Re: xerver-xorg-video-ati dependancies need changing
it's not about saving space it's about packaging it correctly Currently the dependencies do not depend on ati, from what you've described ati is needed so 1) is the simplest solution as xerver-xorg-video-7 and xserver-xorg-video-all do not depend on the specific drivers but on ati to function correctly 2) is not plausible 3) not only saves 400KB and makes the packaging work correctly, but also allows the ati drivers to follow the same model as the rest of the drivers Removing nvida or intel drivers doesn't save much space either, but they are packaged correctly anyway. Note: perhaps my wording for the orginal report was unclear when i say remove radeon,r128,mach64 I meant to remove the dependency on them, below is an explanation of exactly what i mean solution 1 (literally 3 lines of changes) As the radeon,r128,mach64 drivers do not provide full drivers from radeon,r128,mach64 remove the following line in debian/control: Provides: ${xviddriver:Provides} solution 3a (done the without extra packages) from radeon,r128,mach64 remove the following line in debian/control: Provides: ${xviddriver:Provides} then change the depends and dbg-depends in ati to be Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}, ${xviddriver:Depends}, ( xserver-xorg-video-r128, xserver-xorg-video-mach64, xserver-xorg-video-radeon ) | xserver-xorg-video-r128 | xserver-xorg-video-mach64 | xserver-xorg-video-radeon Depends: ${misc:Depends}, xserver-xorg-video-ati (= ${binary:Version}), ( xserver-xorg-video-r128-dbg, xserver-xorg-video-mach64-dbg, xserver-xorg-video-radeon-dbg ) | xserver-xorg-video-r128-dbg | xserver-xorg-video-mach64-dbg | xserver-xorg-video-radeon-dbg solution 3b (done the with 2 extra packages) from radeon,r128,mach64 replace the following line in debian/control: Provides: ${xviddriver:Provides} with Provides: xserver-xorg-video-ati-any then change the depends and dbg-depends in ati to be Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}, ${xviddriver:Depends}, xserver-xorg-video-ati-all | xserver-xorg-video-ati-any Depends: ${misc:Depends}, xserver-xorg-video-ati (= ${binary:Version}), xserver-xorg-video-ati-all-dbg | xserver-xorg-video-ati-any-dbg And in xserver-xorg-video-ati define xserver-xorg-video-ati-all and xserver-xorg-video-ati-all-dbg as Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati-all Architecture: any Depends: xserver-xorg-video-ati, xserver-xorg-video-mach64, xserver-xorg-video-r128, xserver-xorg-video-radeon Description: X.Org X server -- All AMD/ATI Radeon display driver This package provides the 'ati' driver for the AMD/ATI Mach64, Rage128, Radeon, FireGL, FireMV, FirePro and FireStream series. This package pulls in the sub drivers for 'mach64', 'r128' and 'radeon' This package is built from the X.org xf86-video-ati driver module. Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati-all-dbg Architecture: any Depends: xserver-xorg-video-ati-dbg, xserver-xorg-video-mach64-dbg, xserver-xorg-video-r128-dbg, xserver-xorg-video-radeon-dbg Description: X.Org X server -- All AMD/ATI Radeon display driver (debugging symbols) This package provides the 'ati' driver for the AMD/ATI Mach64, Rage128, Radeon, FireGL, FireMV, FirePro and FireStream series. This package pulls in the sub drivers for 'mach64', 'r128' and 'radeon' This package is built from the X.org xf86-video-ati driver module. Note that none of the above changes affect the auto-dependency system as they only edit the explicitly defined dependencies for cleanness of dependencies I would also change xserver-xorg-video-all to not list radeon,r128,mach64 as they are not real drivers, but as i couldn't get hold of the control file I don't know how easy this would be I can remake the changes as patches if i would make things easier. I noticed I introduced some circular dependencies, in 3b and did something weird in the syntax of 3a, I'm not familiar enough with the debian build system to know if I did these right, so you may want to correct them or give me a while to learn and test these changes In summary, this bug is a real bug that can lead to xorg breakage and can be easily solved with solution 1 or correctly solved with solution 3b. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/652467 Title: xerver-xorg-video-ati dependancies need changing ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 725851] [NEW] digikam crashes fglrx on 10.10
Public bug reported: Install ubuntu-10.10 and fglrx on a amd64 desktop with an AMD GPU. Say apt-get install digikam, run digicam and point it at a folder with more than 16 or so images. In this case it's a AMD Radeon 5770 with 1GB ram. Sweep out/select more than 16 of the thumbnails and fglrx will crash, logging you out. I tried digicam 1.4 (stock in 10.10), 1.6, 1.8, and 2.0 beta with the same result. I also tried upgrading the stock Catalyst driver to 11.2 directly from HD. No change. I tried it on a different 10.10 desktop with an nvidia card, works fine. Here's the snippets X/Fglrx log of the crash, link to the full logs below: $ cat /var/log/X.org.log .Org X Server 1.9.0 Release Date: 2010-08-20 [2158694.920] X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 [2158694.920] Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.24-28-server x86_64 Ubuntu [2158694.920] Current Operating System: Linux left 2.6.35-25-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 21 17:40:44 UTC 2011 x86_64 [2158694.920] Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-25-generic root=UUID=340d56da-a3c4-4d bd-8f66-d8687660f742 ro quiet splash [2158694.920] Build Date: 09 January 2011 12:14:27PM [2158694.920] xorg-server 2:1.9.0-0ubuntu7.3 (For technical support please see http://www.ubuntu.com/sup port) [2158694.920] Current version of pixman: 0.18.4 [2158694.920] Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org to make sure that you have the latest version.
