[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 366651] Re: [RV530] Screen static noise using high resolutions

2011-03-13 Thread Psy[H[]
Ubuntu 10.10 32bit with latest updates, also tried updates from x-updates ppa
Hardware: Asus a8sr with radeon hd2400

I've got snow on laptop display. It was there from the point when ati driver
got KMS support, and it is still here.
Noise appears only when KMS engaged, both in console and X.
And it is somewhat color-dependent: it appears most striking on grey areas of
screen, and almost non-existent on black, white and fully saturated basic
colors.

Do I have to open new bug?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 734320] [NEW] Left button on touchpad acts like middle click

2011-03-13 Thread Andreas Noteng
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Sometimes, and without any noticeable trigger the behavior of the left button
on the touchpad changes to what I belive i a simulated middle-click. In Firefox
left click starts opening links in a new background tab, and the same thing
happens in thunderbird when clicking on mail. Tapping the touchpad works as
normal, it's only the left button that's affected.
This happens randomly, and persists until the next reboot.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 660301] Re: maverick: S3 savage (but also with vesa driver): X crash/restart after first switch to console and back, garbaged and unusable screen after second console switch

2011-03-13 Thread John Linn
I believe I have the same bug. I have a fresh install of lubuntu
10.10 on an ancient Pentium II PC with an old Diamond Stealth III s540
graphics card. I am seeing symptoms similar to #5 above.

No vidio in Chrome browser (but doesn't crash). Glxgears crashes to
the login screen after displaying an empty window frame.

I also believe this is the cause of several programs crashing XWindows
session to crash the login screen in this version of lubuntu:

any XScreenSaver.
any Wine program after displaying a empty window frame.
any attempt to use Power modes other than shutdown or reboot.

Otherwise, lubuntu seems quite reasonable and responsive on this
machine and once some bugs are cleaned up, should work quite nicely.

Let me know if you need more information.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 712173] Re: ubuntu desktop from usb stick freezes when the display switch from plymouth to X

2011-03-13 Thread bp0
Just to confirm that this bug should be closed, I've re-tested with a
daily build (20110312) on my laptop (i386) and the issue appears to have
been resolved.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 734487] [NEW] Thinkpad 410s external vga monitor is blurry

2011-03-13 Thread Joseph Garvin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Whenever I plug my laptop into an external monitor (VGA cable) the
display on the external monitor looks very blurry. What should be
straight lines seem to be constantly 'dancing'. Under Windows 7 on the
same machine it works fine. It doesn't matter whether the external
monitor is mirroring or acting as a secondary display, still fuzzy.

The laptop comes with nvidia optimus (hybrid nvidia/intel) but I've
disabled the nvidia chip in the BIOS settings, so I'm pretty sure this
should be an intel driver issue. I've tried different VGA cables, but
they don't make any difference either. I also tried upgrading to the git
intel drivers from this repo but they have the same problem.

I tried checking /etc/X11/xorg.conf, but it doesn't appear to exist in
Maverick. I also went into the display settings and saw that it said the
monitor refresh rate was 60hz and 1980x1020 resolution, just like it
should.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 734505] [NEW] Monitor not detected

2011-03-13 Thread Mike
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Problem #1: My monitor, eMachines E182H D, is not detected and thus displays at
the wrong resolution 1024x768 instead of 1366x768.
Problem #2: My monitor is NORMALLY (for instance, in Windows 7) capable of
rendering 1024x768 in a letterboxed state, where the left and right edges of
the screen are empty black space. However, it won't do this with Ubuntu.
Instead, the display is stretched across the entire screen, making everything
look stretched too wide. I.e. the 1024 pixels is stretched across 1366 pixels.
Extremely ugly!

Thanks for the help.

Mike
