[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 718870] Re: [sandybridge] GPU lockup (IPEHR: 0x680b0000)

2011-03-17 Thread Lenar
Maybe I have another bug, but the kernels mentioned in #4 and #5 do not behave
any better.
Whole machine hangs during the first minute after logon to KDE. With those two
kernels it's so hanged I can't switch terminal and so can't see the error
message.
Even SysRq doesn't work.

Latest kernel I have not crashing or hanging is 2.6.37-02063701-generic.
2.6.38-1-generic (based on rc2 I think) is the next one I have which started to
show the problem.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 658072] Re: Keyboard keys repeat

2011-03-17 Thread Shawn Rutledge
I have this issue on Gentoo, was googling and found this thread. It
does NOT happen with a USB keyboard. But I'm missing my good old Model
M so I want to keep trying. No idea how to fix it though. Could there
be a BIOS update to fix it?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 573006] Re: Touch screen driver clicks at wrong location

2011-03-17 Thread Naugtur
If any extra experiments are needed - I'm still watching this thread.

I am currently using xubuntu 10.04 on dell L2100 with IDEACOM IDC 6680
I can't risk loosing the system, so I won't be able to do risky updates at the
moment, but I'm working on it. (I have to do separate partitions first)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 599017] Re: [gm45] Xorg freeze on Firefox on one particular page

2011-03-17 Thread Etienne Goyer
Confirmed to be with the kernel drm. With the maverick-lts-backport
kernel, we cannot reproduce the crash. Of course, it is non-
deterministic, so there is always the possibility that the bug is still
there, only less frequent. But after 50 refreshes of the offending page
and no crash, we are pretty confident! :)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 599017] Re: [gm45] Xorg freeze on Firefox on one particular page

It is interesting to note that X does not write a stack trace in
/var/log/Xorg.0.log when it freeze. It does not respond to kill request
either (kill pid of Xorg, or service restart gdm).

2011-03-17 Thread Marcin Juszkiewicz
Bug happens also on my Radeon HD5450 nevermind do I use natty or xorg-
edgers packages.

Situation looks like everything works and then desktop freezes, turns to
black for moment, switches back to desktop. Sometimes it happens once or
few times and system is usable again. But sometimes it makes gfx card
unusable so reboot is required to get system working properly again.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 717114] Re: [i945gm] Screen Corruption with new Xorg stack with terminal programs

2011-03-17 Thread Andy Whitcroft
Ok confirmed that reverting 6bda10d152735c22baf1dcd92937420b4b0a359a
does resolve the corruption we see in terminal windows (for me at least)
but it simply moves the corruption elsewhere. With the revert the
corruption it is intended to resolve is back, mostly manifesting as bad
icons on the desktop and chromium for me. Discussions continue
upstream.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 542357] Re: upgrade from karmic to lucid: gui is crashing on login

2011-03-17 Thread Jan Van Sanden
Just tried to install 10.04.2 LTS (32bit, desktop) from scratch in a newly
created virtual machine running on a VMware ESX server.
xserver kept crashing until I deleted file /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6
Only then I was able to install via restarting gdm.
So this bug is still relevant and prohibits installation for the unsuspicious
admin.

I switched to virtualbox and there this issue is not bothering me
anymore.

Maybe this is a glitch in VMWare itself ???

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 658072] Re: Keyboard keys repeat

2011-03-17 Thread Ragnarel
I asked to Asus Support and they said that isn't a BIOS problem, but a
problem with some 64bits linux distributions (and Ubuntu 32bits). At the
moment, I haven't further information.

2011/3/17 Shawn Rutledge shawn.t.rutle...@gmail.com

I have this issue on Gentoo, was googling and found this thread. It
does NOT happen with a USB keyboard. But I'm missing my good old Model
M so I want to keep trying. No idea how to fix it though. Could there
be a BIOS update to fix it?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 736373] Re: monitor not working with savage driver

2011-03-17 Thread Tormod Volden
Thanks for your report. Did it work in a previous release? In that case
it would be nice if you could provide an Xorg.0.log for instance by
using a live CD of that release. It would be good if you can provide the
xrandr info as explained on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/NonGraphicalBoot
for a previous working release if any, as well as for the working vesa
driver and the failing savage driver in Ubuntu 10.10. The instructions
are given for a live CD, so on an installed system you will have to add
text in the grub menu instead of in the CD start menu.

It doesn't do it all of the time (maybe once every 15 logins or so), so

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 582123] Re: xorg-input-fpit gets wrongly initialized

2011-03-17 Thread Timo Aaltonen
This is fixed also on natty, but won't make it in maverick, since the

too much for a SRU.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 573006] Re: Touch screen driver clicks at wrong location

2011-03-17 Thread Chase Douglas
I've uploaded a new version of evdev to ppa:utouch-team/unstable. The
package fixes things for the device recording. Please test it out and
report success or issues here. After you are done testing, you can
remove the ppa with ppa-purge.

Note that it's not done building in the ppa yet, be patient :).

Thanks!

Besides, evtouch is dead, it has no upstream.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 717114] Re: [i945gm] Screen Corruption with new Xorg stack with terminal programs

2011-03-17 Thread Stefano Rivera
Also makes a massive difference for me. I haven't seen any corruption.
Tested the usual triggers: gnome-terminal scrolling / curses, notify-osd
on top of video, slashdot.org.

I also can't reproduce Simon's corruption in unity.
