Hey All, Removing nomodeset from my kernel boot line (in Arch Linux
that's in /boot/grub/menu.lst) fixed this issue for me.

- I've this button side my touch pad that disables and enables my touch
- pad when i need it and don't need it. But when i have pressed it once,
- it stops working as it should, but when i try to re enable it, it stays
- dead until i restart and or re login. I've also found this behavior on
- all linux distributions i have ever used, so i am pretty sure it is a
- driver issue. My notebook is Acer aspire 5810TZ, i have no clue about
- the touch pad itself but i hope you can help me with that.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 769589] Re: touchpad stops working after it has been disapled, and enabled after that

2011-04-24 Thread Tommi Saira
apport information

** Description changed:

I've this button side my touch pad that disables and enables my touch pad
when i need it and don't need it. But when i have pressed it once, it stops
working as it should, but when i try to re enable it, it stays dead until i
restart and or re login. I've also found this behavior on all linux
distributions i have ever used, so i am pretty sure it is a driver issue. My
notebook is Acer aspire 5810TZ, i have no clue about the touch pad itself but i
hope you can help me with that.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 763370] Re: xorg memory leak

2011-04-24 Thread Mário Buči
I think it's related to chromium-browser. I closed the browser,
restarted it and everything's back to normal. System responds nicely,
Xorg consumes less memory. Probably some adobe flash leak or something
else.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 769799] [NEW] X server crashes when screensaver activates

2011-04-24 Thread Brian Parma
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-savage

If in System-Screensaver, the option 'Activate screensaver when
computer is idle', when it activates the X server crashes and restarts
at the login screen. This happens no matter what screensaver is
selected, which is usually just set to 'blank screen'.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 762478] Re: No icons shown in unity launcher

2011-04-24 Thread rue
I have this problem as well, I reinstalled Ubuntu from the beta 1 CD and and
the Icons in the Launcher were showing
but after updating to Beta 2 the problem came back I lost all the Icons in the
Launcher.

As a kind of workaround I installed Unity 2d which looks and acts much like the
3d version, everything works fine in Unity 2d
I think it would be a good idea if Unity 2d was installed along with the main
install of Ubuntu so if issues arise with the 3d version you could drop back to
Unity 2d which is far better than the Gnome 2x desktop at leased with Unity 2d
you can still get the look and feel of the new desktop Ubuntu is promoting

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 752445] Re: Intermittent white window contents when maximizing/switching windows

2011-04-24 Thread Praveen Thivari
Mine is nvidia GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a.

The problem is exactly same. For Eg: You open firefox , nautilus,
Libreoffice in fullscreen. First two of them are fine and the third,
Libreoffice window goes white. Try to shuffle them in order the third
maximised window will be white.

But for flash videoes like youtube the first attempt to 'FULLSCREEN'
makes them white.

It's just not natty, I upgraded maverick's compiz to latest version with
compiz ppa and even that shows similar problem.

May be the latest NVIDIA-CURRENT (270.41.06) drivers conflict with latest
COMPIZ (0.9.4+bzr20110415).
Problem should be sorted as soon as possible, when we are so close to release.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 752445] Re: Intermittent white window contents when maximizing/switching windows

2011-04-24 Thread prettl
Yes, 173 version isn't affected with this white windows bug but it has a big
issue about the waking up from suspend (at least in my case: nvidia GeForce
6200Go in a laptop so I often use suspend).
If I wanna use unity I have to use Nouevau Gallium 3D driver which is working
good but approx. 5 times slower.

I hope there will be a fix that at least one driver will be usable.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 752445] Re: Intermittent white window contents when maximizing/switching windows

2011-04-24 Thread Edgar Alfonso
@prettl You are right. The white windows are gone, but the whole screen
turns yellow when waking up from suspension. The good thing is that at
least I can recover my session by typing my password and pressing the
Enter button, even when I cannot see anything on the screen while doing
so.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 763808] Re: 11.04 does not properly load NVIDIA driver for Geforce 9500 GT

2011-04-24 Thread Michael King
I'm having a similar problem with my Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop running
the latest 11.04 Beta 2 install. Unity worked for a while, then Update
Manager came up and I installed updates and now I can only run the old
desktop. I'm not dual booting this laptop and I'm just running the
screen on the laptop itself. When I check the Additional Drivers
dialog, it says that the driver is active but not in use.

I tried running the command line given above and got an error when I
tried to run the dkpg -l command. Here's the rest of the output:

Linux michael-MM061 2.6.38-8-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 03:31:50 UTC
2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 11.04
Release:11.04
Codename: natty
  *-display
   description: VGA compatible controller
   product: G72M [Quadro NVS 110M/GeForce Go 7300]
   vendor: nVidia Corporation
   physical id: 0
   bus info: pci@:01:00.0
   version: a1
   width: 64 bits
   clock: 33MHz
capabilities: pm msi pciexpress vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom
   configuration: driver=nvidia latency=0
   resources: irq:16 memory:ed00-edff memory:d000-dfff
memory:ee00-eeff memory:ef00-ef01

I've also tried the sudo nvidia-xconfig command with no luck.

What I find odd is that when I first installed the new OS, Unity worked
fine until update manager ran. I've also noticed that there is a long
pause during the boot up sequence where the screen is blank.

Thanks,
Michael King
