[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 767436] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in brw_validate_state()
You should also check your dmesg and /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state when you ssh into it when it's down, in the case that the issue is a gpu lockup. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium = High ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/767436 Title: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in brw_validate_state() ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 726496] Re: Cannot use Unity or Classic desktop with effects after the latest nvidia+xorg update
This affects me as well. (Nvidia 7300 LE) When booting into ubuntu classic (no effects) and then enabling compiz with `compiz --replace` it causes the same problem. Killing compiz unfreezes it. Disabling the compiz 'OpenGL plugin' (pretty essential), also prevents the freeze. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/726496 Title: Cannot use Unity or Classic desktop with effects after the latest nvidia+xorg update ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 748768] Re: Why does my mouse point to a place besides where the cursor is pointing?
apport information ** Description changed: Ubuntu 10.10 I Printed Screen to show what I'm talking about while the problem is ongoing. But, I opened the picture and it looked normal instead even while the problem was ongoing. Whenever I boot up the computer it is like this or after I fix it and then the screen saver starts it reverts back to the problem. The power management does not cause this problem. The problem was there from the start: during the installation. I can fix it temporarily by applying a different resolution and then reverting back to the resolution without saving the new applied resolution. This fixes both the pointer from pointing at the bottom of the pointer icon and the whole screen, even besides the background, from being tiled and cut off at the bottom the same distance that the pointer points problematically. The screen is also shifted to the left. The left part that is cut off is shown on the right side of the monitor. But the mouse does not show on the right side when I put it past the left side, only everything else. The cut off portion at the bottom does not come out the other side at the top, but the top menu bar is larger than normal and the Firefox icon has a blue streak emanating from the end of the blue portion of the Firefox logo straight to the top. If I enter Configure Display Settings again after it is fixed, it right away makes the problem again. I expect it to fit the screen without me having to, temporarily, fix it. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 748768] Re: Why does my mouse point to a place besides where the cursor is pointing?
The description of the problem is that you know how there are three point to the triangle on the mouse pointer? Well, my pointer selects things that are on the bottom left point instead of the top point. The screen displays the same proportion off center with the edges that are cut of appear on the other side of the monitor as in the pictures I took, despite me adjusting the screen positioning with the buttons on the outside of the monitor. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/748768 Title: Why does my mouse point to a place besides where the cursor is pointing? ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

This is not only System76 issue, it's GTS 250, 9800 GT, 9800 GTX, 8600M, 9200M and probably a lot more. There's atleast 15 ppl only on the launchpad. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 760632] Re: Resizing Konsole crashes the whole system
Seems NVIDIA is well aware of the issue - and has been for the last month! Sadly there is little sign of any activity from NVIDIA with regard to solving the issue. http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=161180 http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=161308 Also seems this bug report has been duplicated here:- https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/772311 Finally, it is possible to hang the system with gnome-terminal too! Granted, gnome-terminal is not quite as unstable as konsole. But if you fill the gnome-terminal window (e.g. run ls on a large directory), then grab the edge of the gnome-terminal window and resize it a bit, then it will start creating some strange artefacts on-screen. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 353137] Re: missing pixels when drawing connecting lines
Yes this bug still exists in Ubuntu 10.04 and Ubuntu 11.04. I have recently experimented with various X11 setups too. If I use the FrameBuffer driver (fbdev) the bug is gone. If I use the proprietary AMD/ATI Radeon driver the bug is gone. It seems only if I use the open source ATI (ati) or ATI Radeon (radeon) driver then the bug is there. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 703255] Re: Edid quirk entries in xorg.0.log
Hi. Looking at the xorg.log file I can see that the problem is still there after the upgrade to Natty. I've run the apport-collect bug-number from Natty and sent the report. Thanks Stefano On Wed, 2011-04-27 at 23:20 +, bugbot wrote: Hey Stefano, Thanks for your interest in Ubuntu. Thanks for testing maverick during its development period. Unfortunately it looks like this bug report didn't get attention during the maverick development period. But I see there's not been more comments on the bug since the release, which makes me wonder if this is still an issue for you? If you've not seen this issue since maverick's release yourself, it may have been solved by kernel or X or other updates that occurred late in the release; if so, would you mind please closing the bug for us? Go to the URL mentioned in this bug report, click the yellow icon(s) in the status column and set to 'Fix Released'. If you no longer have the hardware needed to reproduce the problem, or otherwise feel the bug no longer needs tracked in Launchpad, you can set the status to 'Invalid'. If you are the original reporter and still have this issue, just reply to this email saying so. (Or set the bug status to Confirmed.) If you are able to re-test this against 11.04 Natty Narwhal (our current development focus) and find the issue still affects Natty, please also run 'apport-collect bug-number' while running natty, which will add fresh logs and debug data, and flag it for the Ubuntu-X development team to look at. -- You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/703255 Title: Edid quirk entries in xorg.0.log Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hi I've noticed a fairly long startup time. After the update to ubuntu 11.04 the entire GUI experience is extremely slow and lags. This behaviour even occurs with the 'ubuntu standard no effects' desktop session! very annoying. If I drag a round a gedit window for example, the xorg process (as visible in 'top') will use up to 99% of my CPU power. Anyway, since the standard desktop was just working fine with the previous ubuntu versions, I would expect the latest one to work just fine too. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 706890] Re: dual monitors garbled display on 10.10 with Radeon X600
apport information ** Description changed: Since I upgraded from Lucid to Maverick (official release with latest updates), the display with dual non-mirrored monitors does not work. I have a Dell Dimension 9150 with 2 GB RAM, Intel Pentium 4 dual-core 3 GHz CPU and a Radeon X600 graphics chip. This worked fine in Lucid and Windows XP. My setup: Samsung 17 SyncMaster 171s VGA 60 Hz on left, and 19 Samsung SyncMaster 943 DVI 75 Hz on right, both at 1280 x 1024. The Radeon controller has a VGA and a DVI socket and the two monitors are connected as indicated. Mirrored monitors display fine. But using System - Monitor Preferences, uncheck Same image in all monitors, click on Apply, and the right-hand monitor (19 DVI) completely garbles the right half of the display from top to bottom. Also tried 60 Hz, no change. I ran Update Manager to get the latest official updates, googled and tried various suggestions, such as bleeding.edge xorg stuff, but it was no help. Not sure if this is supposed to have been resolved or not. So I downgraded to 10.4 where it works fine. Would be great to get an answer as to how to fix this problem - thanks. - Bob Paulson --- Architecture: i386 CurrentDmesg: [ 20.158526] e1000e: eth0 NIC Link is Up 100 Mbps Full Duplex, Flow Control: RX/TX [ 20.158532] e1000e :04:00.0: eth0: 10/100 speed: disabling TSO [ 20.158758] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth0: link becomes ready [ 27.951716] EXT4-fs (sda6): re-mounted. This problem as a previous post i confirmed, if one disable desktop effects it actually fixes the issue. Granted, gnome-terminal is not quite as unstable as konsole. But if you fill the gnome-terminal window (e.g. run ls on a large directory), then grab the edge of the gnome-terminal window and resize it a bit, then it will start creating some strange artefacts on-screen. If you continue resizing then eventually it will hang. Sometimes you will have to wobble it about a bit. Other times it will hang straight away. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 706890] Re: dual monitors garbled display on 10.10 with Radeon X600
I did a clean install of natty on the affected machine. As with the live CD/USB, it has the same problem - both monitors are completely garbled when I enable dual non-mirrored monitors. I ran apport-collect 706890 (again, I have no idea why it only lists Dependencies.txt in the preceding message, it told me on the computer that it was sending a whole list of stuff as it did last February under maverick). So I logged out and logged in again with Ubuntu Classic (no effects) and it works ok. - Bob -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/706890 Title: dual monitors garbled display on 10.10 with Radeon X600 ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
