[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 798007] Re: [Oneiric] Latest mesa (7.10.3) breaks 3D with nvidia-current
Chris, No, apt did not remove anything nor did suggest it. I did the upgrade with synaptic, so nothing wrong about that (no errors). There was only the notification to upgrade xorg-server to the version 1.10.2 first, which is a new dependency. But as I mentioned, I downgraded the mesa back to 7.10.2 and all is OK now. I may try later today the mesa 7.11.0 tree and libdrm 2.4.26 tree from Xorg-edgers PPA. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/798007 Title: [Oneiric] Latest mesa (7.10.3) breaks 3D with nvidia-current To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/798007/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 798007] Re: [Oneiric] Latest mesa (7.10.3) breaks 3D with nvidia-current
One more note. The package libgl1-mesa-glx 7.10.3-0ubuntu1 breaks: fglrx (= 2:8.850-0ubuntu1) nvidia-173 (= 173.14.30-0ubuntu2) nvidia-current (= 270.41.19-0ubuntu1) However, as I said above, I use nvidia-current_275.09.07, which is the latest stable in Oneiric official repos. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 758785] Re: [arrandale] Display flickers or blank on login (x86_64)
Hi Stefan, Just wanted to check in with you again regarding this bug. It's great that you've been able to work around the problem by using the newer kernel. Talking with Jesse Barnes (Intel upstream), a number of fixes went in to the kernel for this generation of hardware subsequent to what was pulled for Ubuntu's kernel in natty, so it sounds like we're just missing a key patch or two. [@Kernel team - might want to pick jbarnes' brain for patches worth pulling.] I think the next logical step would be to do a git bisect search on the kernel to identify what the fix was. The kernel team may have some better suggestions, but if you want to go forward with the bisection search, they've documented the procedure pretty well here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection. Since it appears this is pinpointed to the kernel rather than X, I'm going to go ahead and close out the X task at this time. I'll try to set the kernel tasks tags and such to hopefully get it on that team's radar, but you may want to ping them if you don't hear from them within a few weeks. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Triaged ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu Natty) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu Natty) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu Natty) Status: New = Invalid ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Natty) Milestone: None = natty-updates ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Natty) Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Natty) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Natty) Assignee: (unassigned) = Steve Conklin (sconklin) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/758785 Title: [arrandale] Display flickers or blank on login (x86_64) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/758785/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 798047] [NEW] Two finger scrolling and right-clicking stops working when the Synaptics Area property is set.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics On the Macbook Air 11, the clickpad has a resolution of 1280x800. Using the xinput command I can disable to bottom quarter for dedicated use as a button: xinput set-prop bcm5974 Synaptics Area 0 0 0 600 This works and touches in the bottom quarter are ignored. However with the above setting, two-finger scrolling and two-finger right-clicking stops working completely. Even when both fingers are in the active area (top 3 quarters). This bug only seems to occur when I mask out the bottom of the Synaptics Area. Masking out the left, top or right does not trigger the bug and multi-touch continues to work. Going back to default settings makes two-finger scrolling and clicking work again: xinput set-prop bcm5974 Synaptics Area 0 0 0 0 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.3.99+git20110116.0e27ce3a-0ubuntu12.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia wl .proc.driver.nvidia.gpus.0: Error: [Errno 21] Is a directory: '/proc/driver/nvidia/gpus/0' .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: .proc.driver.nvidia.version: NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 270.41.06 Mon Apr 18 14:53:56 PDT 2011 GCC version: gcc version 4.5.2 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.5.2-8ubuntu4) Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, bailer, detection, composite, opengl, decor, mousepoll, vpswitch, regex, animation, snap, expo, move, compiztoolbox, place, grid, imgpng, gnomecompat, wall, ezoom, workarounds, staticswitcher, resize, fade, unitymtgrabhandles, scale, session, unityshell] CompositorRunning: compiz Date: Thu Jun 16 15:15:43 2011 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: natty DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: bcmwl, 5.100.82.38+bdcom, 2.6.38-8-generic, x86_64: installed nvidia-current, 270.41.06, 2.6.38-8-generic, x86_64: installed GraphicsCard: nVidia Corporation Device [10de:08a2] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Apple Computer Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 798049] [NEW] nvidia-current needs to be migrated to per-architecture gl_conf alternative
Public bug reported: From the mesa changelog: mesa (7.10.3-0ubuntu1) oneiric; urgency=low … * Merge multiarch support branch: - Declare Breaks: against old versions of xserver-xorg-core and libgl1-mesa-glx that will look for DRI modules only in /usr/lib/dri. - Fix up the maintainer scripts to transition to per-architecture alternatives for ld.so configs. - Declare Breaks: against nvidia-current, nvidia-173, and fglrx due to the migration of alternatives for the ld.so.conf snippets. - Use multiarch dirs for our dri module search path, with a fallback to /usr/lib/dri. - Use the right path for dh_shlibdeps. Hence libgl1-mesa-glx 7.10.3-0ubuntu1 Breaks: nvidia-current (= 270.41.19-0ubuntu1). But since then, a new nvidia-current 275.09.07-0ubuntu1 was released that has not actually been migrated to the new per-architecture alternatives. That makes it impossible now to use mesa’s libGL while nvidia-current is installed. nvidia-current needs to be migrated, and the Breaks: version needs to be updated in libgl1-mesa-glx. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 774207] Re: [Natty Intel 945GME] No desktop effects (kwin 100% cpu)
I just wanted to add to my previous post, in case it makes any difference: - Right before the successful test I installed the toggle compositing plasma widget, and used it to toggle the effects (previously I did it directly in system settings) - After a reboot, I did get the message that desktop effects have been suspended. However, after a couple of seconds if I click the toggle icon, the desktop effects are resumed and remain functional from this point on (previously it would always turn itself back off immediately no matter what I did) - Although the system is now fully usable and effects work ok, on a clean system after reboot with a single open konsole window running top/htop and nothing else going on anywhere, I see plasma-desktop, Xorg and kwin processes all taking up 6%-12% CPU all the time. Still sounds to me like way too much for an idle system, and bad for battery life... but at least the system is usable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/774207 Title: [Natty Intel 945GME] No desktop effects (kwin 100% cpu) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/774207/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 798110] [NEW] X server crashes at random on natty (intel)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel After the upgrade to natty I got some serious problem with the stability of the X server (everything was just fine in maverik, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/787208). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 798007] Re: [Oneiric] Latest mesa (7.10.3) breaks 3D with nvidia-current
This bug was fixed in the package mesa - 7.10.3-0ubuntu2 --- mesa (7.10.3-0ubuntu2) oneiric; urgency=low * debian/control: - Make the Breaks against the proprietary drivers unversioned. A sneaky nvidia-current upload broke my sly attempt at avoiding this work. The Breaks: should therefore stay unversioned until we know the version of the fixed packages. (LP: #798007) * debian/rules: * debian/clean: * debian/libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental.armel.install.in - We don't build i915g on armel as there's no concievable hardware to support. Don't try to install it. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 798355] Re: dual screen corruption when clicking on some gnome panel menu (nvidia)
I forgot to mention that I have this problem with 'Gnome Classic' and 'Gnome Effects'. This problem occurs with both the original 270.41.06 nvidia drivers, as well as the 275.09.07 drivers. ** Tags added: apport-collected natty regression-update ubuntu ** Description changed: Binary package hint: nvidia-current this is a very nasty bug that appears on all my dual screen computers. Very often (not always), when I click on the gnome main menubar or the network manager applet, I get a 'mirrored pop-up' of that menu on my second screen. It's not really mirrored, but the background of my desktop just shines through at the same position that the according menu was selected on the first screen. I'm attaching a screenshot of what I mean. + --- + .proc.driver.nvidia.gpus.0: Error: [Errno 21] Is a directory: '/proc/driver/nvidia/gpus/0' + .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: + .proc.driver.nvidia.version: + NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 275.09.07 Wed Jun 8 14:16:46 PDT 2011 + GCC version: gcc version 4.5.2 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.5.2-8ubuntu4) + Architecture: amd64 + CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' + CompositorRunning: None + DistUpgraded: Log time: 2011-04-28 18:48:42.715412 + DistroCodename: natty + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 + DistroVariant: ubuntu + GraphicsCard: + nVidia Corporation GT216 [GeForce GT 330M] [10de:0a29] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) +Subsystem: Apple Computer Inc.
