[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 811640] Re: [gm45] GPU lockup render.IPEHR: 0x78080003
Bryce, thanks. Not much success so far. The xorg packages in the PPA are outdated because of a recent update to Oneiric, but I installed manually. When booting with those packages, I couldn't move my mouse pointer in LDM (in fact the system probably hung as changing to a VT didn't work either). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 775332] Re: Xorg freeze
On a related note, starting 7/20/2011, I have been experiencing a similar problem with YouTube, and Adobe flash, but I have a GeForce card. OS: Ubuntu 11.04 (all updates applied) Flash player version: 10.3 r181 Firefox version: 5.0 Other browsers: Opera 11.50, Epiphany 2.30.6 Graphics card: nVidia GeForce 8400GS Driver: nvidia-current (270.41.06) Desktop: jery-rigged xinitrc with Xmonad window manager (also tested with OpenBox) Symtoms: After watching about 2 or 3 videos on YouTube, my computer locks up completely. Though I am still able to move the mouse cursor, I can't click on anything and all keys pressed are ignored. I was unable to switch to a different TTY (or virtual console). All other sites using Flash work okay. I currently do not know what is causing this. Hope it gets fixed soon. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/775332 Title: Xorg freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/775332/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 813581] [NEW] libdrm-nouveau1a
Public bug reported: I installed the latest nvidia display driver for my GTX-460 video card. In order to boot, I need to disable the nouveau model. I do this manually by adding: nouveau.modeset=0 to the GRUB kernel boot line. I am trying to remove the actual nouveau and related packages so that I need not manually disable at boot time. However, when I attempt to remove the libdrm-nouveau1a package using Synaptic, I am asked to mark well over a hundred packages for removal. If these packages were removed it would render the system unusable. Some examples of the packages that will be removed: acpi-support agave aisleriot alsa-base apparmor compiz cron evolution gdm many of the X related binaries update-manager Something is either wrong with the package dependency check or half the system lists libdrm-nouveau1a as the only dependent package. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 813581] Re: libdrm-nouveau1a
You cannot remove that package. The mesa package libgl1-mesa-dri depends on all three libdrm packages (libdrm-intel1, libdrm-nouveau1a, libdrm-radeon1). The main xserver (xserver-xorg-core) depends on those same three libdrm packages (via libdrm2). Thus xserver, drm and mesa are linked together. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/813581 Title: libdrm-nouveau1a To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/813581/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 811640] Re: [gm45] GPU lockup render.IPEHR: 0x78080003
Actually, no success is a good result - it indicates the bug is probably not in our multitouch patches after all, which is good news. Assuming that gpu lockup is the same as you were getting before (you can doublecheck by comparing i915_error_state with the one you got before), it's looking more like this is one of the known mesa gpu lockups. I put one mesa patch in yesterday for another gpu lockup due to opengl/game usage; possibly that solves it for you too. If not, we're going to be pulling a new rc in for mesa which has some additional fixes along these lines. I'd suggest waiting until that's in and then re-test for the bug. Meanwhile, don't forget to answer my questions in comment #4, just in case that info is relevant. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/811640 Title: [gm45] GPU lockup render.IPEHR: 0x78080003 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/811640/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 803992] Re: Natty update introduced crasher in xorg
no source code analysis. Otherwise I would have probably come up with a fix. At some point I suspected that my session type was wrong, but since I used autologon I could not change it to test it. Therefore I turned autologon off and noticed that things started to work. Sometimes it is just that simple. BTW I still sometimes get Oh no something has gone wrong; although ubuntu does not have auto logon, gnome still has this. If I get that clicking on logout will give me the gnome login screen again, it will still autologin and then things go ok. I suspect this is a startup timing related issue, probalby between gnome and X11. If it matters, I have an i7-2600 with a hard disk (no ssd). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/803992 Title: Natty update introduced crasher in xorg To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/803992/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
