[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 839304] [NEW] nvidia drivers, twinview and resume cause garbage on screen
Public bug reported: I just updated to oneiric and see a similar problem to #813343. When either resuming or turning on two monitors with twinview (one works fine) I get garbage. When trying to enable twinview I can still see the mouse and with a bit of luck get one monitor working again. Two doesn't. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 267913] Re: hda-intel: IRQ timing workaround is activated for card #0. Suggest a bigger bdl_pos_adj
I should also note that I'm using Nvidia drivers 180.13 with a GeForce 9800 GTX, or GTX 560 Ti (when the latter is working--in process of RMA). Some previous posters have mentioned a possible link to the video card and its drivers. I'm currently doing a badblocks on my Linux drive, but in Disk Utility, there's something I thought I should mention, which I don't entirely understand: 5. Reallocation Sector Count: Good - Normalized: 200; Worst: 200; Threshold: 140; Value: 0 sectors. Does this mean that no sectors currently in use are bad, but 200 have been reallocated; or that the 200 number is some kind of setting for when to worry, and there have been no such incidents? I don't know whether this could relate to this bug, but if it does, it would be good to know what I'm looking at. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work
I have something more to report: - For reasons unknown, this driver appear to have fixed hang-on-suspend I was experiencing before, and - After resume, the one-finger tap still generated left click, even though I have disabled that behaviour. How would I go about troubleshooting the last issue? Is that driver either (i) reloaded after resume or (ii) fails to re-apply tap settings. Or is userland supposed to reestablish those settings? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745608] Re: [915GM] font corruption on Intel GMA900
I strongly believe that the big average of the users who are having this same problem are unable to find this page (since the issue is hard to explain) and are thus unable to workaround the issue. I myself have spent 2 days searching - which speaks for itself, doesn't it? So even if the package maintainers only decide to automatically activate DebugWait on these cards by default it would be a great improvement that would solve all future problems. There should be enough code already present in the automatic configuration detection logic of Xorg to add this small check with a few lines of code. Though, I'm not a package maintainer nore do I know how it works. Thus my estimates are surely not the best. All summed up: just hack it so that it works for the masses. Nobody who got a intel GMA900 chipset cares for performance anyway, which means nobody would ever complain anymore. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745608 Title: [915GM] font corruption on Intel GMA900 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/745608/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Thanks for this great patch, Seth! The actual patch works perfect for my setup (Dell latitude E5510, ubuntu natty, 2.6.38-11-generic). Though, I took notice of Vladimirs observations regarding suspend mode (comment #344). Unfortunately when your module is installed I got now and then hung in suspend mode. I did not recognize this behaviour before installing your patch. So, the patch works great (sensitivity is a bit high for my liking) but I had to switch back, cause hanging in suspend is more annoying for me than tap-click activated. Now suspend-resume works again safe. Any idea how this could be related to your patch? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/550625 Title: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/550625/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 839601] [NEW] Xorg freeze
Public bug reported: Before today, and for a few weeks now, the freeze would happen intermittently, maybe once or twice a day. At first it seemed to be associated with Chromium because it would happen when I scrolled a web page or clicked on a link. As of today, I've already had 5 freezes, while doing very little. Once, Chromium wasn't even running, only a Terminal and Emacs. Every freeze leaves the machine responsive to ssh but the entire display is frozen (e.g. no output on irc terminals). Reboot is required to unstuck. I managed to reproduce by installing cryptsetup, it looks like /lib /nvidia-current/modprobe.conf (which is the actual blacklist, /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-graphics-drivers.conf is a symlink) didn't get copied into the initramfs so nouveau loads which prevents nvidia from loading later in the boot process. ** Package changed: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) = initramfs-tools (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/839524 Title: [Geforce GT 430] The kernel driver does not load under Oneiric (but works in Natty) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/839524/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work
For those of you experiencing a hang after 'sudo rmmod psmouse': this is most probably unrelated to the new DKMS module (you are _removing_ the currently in-use module, so it should not matter at all if there is a different module available). Easy way to validate: boot the system with the standard psmouse, then try 'sudo rmmod psmouse'. This is a different issue. Please open a bug on it -- and here I mean please *each* of you open a *new* bug. This sounds like a kernel issue, and may be hardware-related, so duplicating bugs should only be done after triage.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 839808] Re: Intel Sandybridge crash that takes Kwin with it
Sorry - I was just following this procedure: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Status states that If you have to ask the reporter questions, set the bug to Incomplete. If you're already dealing with it then that's fine - I won't attempt to look in to it myself as I was originally planning. What I was wondering was if there were any steps that consistently caused the crash to be triggered, so I could test it in a controlled environment on my system with the same model of GPU. Also, I have witnessed a lot of commits upstream that may have already reached Oneiric which fixed various Sandy Bridge GPU related issues, so I was asking you to test it just in case the problem was no longer existent. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/839808 Title: Intel Sandybridge crash that takes Kwin with it To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/839808/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
