[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 847666] [NEW] Mouse pointer placement issues with screens of differient resolutions.
Public bug reported: I have a laptop with a screen that runs on 1366x768 and an external monitor that runs on 1920x1080. When I move the mouse pointer from the laptop onto the external monitor, the pointer comes out on the external monitor in the same height as it does on the laptop. (Pixel to pixel, so the top of the laptop screen is far from the top of the external screen) This is not a big problem, although I probably would expect it to be scaled, somehow. Just in case there is any confusion: the 312 top pixels is a barrier from moving the cursor, 1080-768 = 312. However, when I move the mouse pointer from the external monitor to the smaller laptop screen, then if the pointer is above the height of the smaller screen, it will stop at the edge. This is annoying by itself, but coupled with features in Gnome Shell, Unity, Unity2D and Compiz (and others) that allow you to maximize vertically by pressing against an edge, this becomes an actual problem. I think that if I move the pointer horisontally along the upper left of my laptop screen, it should appear at the top of the external screen, as it does at the bottom. ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: I have a laptop with a screen that runs on 1366x768 and an external monitor that runs on 1920x1080. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 848043] [NEW] HDMI resolution not detected correctly
Public bug reported: Hi, I have a FULL HD LCD TV connected as second display via HDMI. It is a LG 32 TV. In Monitor Preferences dialog it is detected as Goldstar Company Ltd 52 with maximum resolution of 1360x768 while the real resolution of the TV is 1920x1080. This problem appeared right after upgrade from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04. In 10.10 it worked just fine. Also in Windows there is no such problem. So it seems the problem is in Ubuntu 11.04. I have confirmed that downloading the 275.09.07 driver from NVIDIA fixes the freeze, which only recently became problematic for me. 1. Download 275.09.07 driver (64 bit) from http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-display-amd64-275.09.07-driver.html 2. Switch to a virtual terminal Ctrl-Alt-F1 and login 3. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 726268] Re: xorg memory leak
I'm having the same problem on Ubuntu 11.04 64b with Gnome 2 and the proprietary nVidia drivers for a nVidia 9600 GT. I've also tried the latest nVidia and X versions from the xorg-edgers PPA, but to no avail. The Xorg process starts at ~50MB and after a while it randomly jumps to 500-700MB in a matter of minutes. There doesn't seem to be a certain program that causes it. Closing all of my programs doesn't solve anything, but a log-out does (I'm guessing it restarts the X server). I'll be happy to post any logs if someone is interested. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/726268 Title: xorg memory leak To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-180/+bug/726268/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 848221] [NEW] Desktop does not start up after login
Public bug reported: The problem I am reporting showed up in mid august approximately. Until then everything was working fine. When I login through the graphical login screen the desktop does not load. Instead the ubuntu wallpaper is displayed with no other desktop elements (panel, dash, ...). My custom wallpaper is also not displayed. The cursor shows as loading and the display turns black and back to the default wallpaper a couple of times. After that nothing happens. Logging into the classic mode works. I am using pam-mount to mount my encrypted home partition. When logging into the first tty I noticed that I don't get to the shell immediately. Instead the prompt says: Last login ... Welcome to Ubuntu ... * Documentation ... (arg: 7) Pressing Ctrl+C brought me to the shell. Some kind of login script seems to wait for input. Maybe that is related to the problem with the desktop session. I am happy to provide any other information needed to track this down. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 848302] [NEW] [i965gm] GPU lockup/compiz segfault
Public bug reported: I'm unsure as to where the fault occurs- I was unable to fully upgrade with 'update-manager -d' as it failed on some packages, and I resumed with aptitude full-upgrade, which left several packages (compiz, ubuntu-desktop, and others) unresolved, though apparently they're resolved now. When I flip between windows (unusually of chromium, or opera), or especially between different desktops (or sometimes access dash) my laptop will freeze, with all windows and taskbar/titlebars disappearing, showing only the wallpaper and the cursor. The programs continue running, and there are no problems with network or sound (a video chat worked fine through such a lockup). After a few seconds, everything will return to normal. Earlier in the day (though not in the timeframe of this report), I did see kernal errors due to drm:drm_get_fb having an invalid buffer address in /var/log/syslog. ubuntu-music-dea is also causing errors (unity-music-dae[2223] trap int3 ip:7f88248a4473 sp:7fffc8b5f8f0 error:0), which are recorded in syslog. This may impact the issue, though I doubt it. Thanks! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 799202] Re: wacom stylus jumps with latest xserver-xorg-core
I just tested using latest Oneiric xserver-xorg (1.10.4) If I remove all the latest patches starting from the 503, it works fine (pressure ok and no jumping lines). I see no difference if I only apply the struct changes described by Jussi in comment #32. Pressure and everything still works fine. But applying the other part of patch 503 (that touches the dix/getevents.c file) makes the bug described in my original report appear (random lines) I tested with 2 different devices: 1 - A Wacom Intuos 3 usb tablet 2- A Lenovo X201T touchscreen So maybe the pressure issue described by Jussi is another problem related to his Bamboo? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/799202 Title: wacom stylus jumps with latest xserver-xorg-core To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/799202/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue. However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all. Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request further testing. This is such a request. We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel currently in the release pocket than the one you tested when this issue was found. Please test again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still exists or not. If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to Confirmed. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 828684] Re: [i965gm] False GPU lockup EIR: 0x00000010 PGTBL_ER: 0x00000100
Hi Callum, you won't like to hear this but it sounds like you have two separate bugs. The backlight issue you just mentioned is a legitimate issue (but probably kernel or power manager rather than xorg), however the bug report you filed was triggered by a 'false GPU lockup', which means that your graphics card experienced a momentary lockup during boot, but was able to recover from it and continue on. We've gotten quite a few GPU lockup bug reports, and since you didn't mention the other bug you're having, I've duped a bunch of these other false GPU lockup bug reports to this one. So, I would recommend that you create a new bug report for the backlight issue, so that we can handle that as a higher severity bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/828684 Title: [i965gm] False GPU lockup EIR: 0x0010 PGTBL_ER: 0x0100 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver/+bug/828684/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 846652] Re: Monitor screen misalignment and incorrect refresh rate when switching VTs and unsuspending
Thanks, Bryce. I have attached dmesg1 which was from my machine booting (also note that with this monitor attached I also see the issue highlighted in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/822929). I then reproduced the bug (oddly the first few times I tried to reproduce, when I clicked Suspend and then resumed, it would take me back to GDM). I've just had a look at potential API compatibility problems and I don't see any. Only global variables, typedefs, and one non-virtual function was added. None of these should affect binary compatibility with the existing compiz 0.9.5 code at all. Certainly, no member variables or virtual functions have changed.
