[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 832624] Re: cursor jumping to screen border

2011-09-28 Thread Jussi Pakkanen
If you look at the second video very carefully you can see that the
cursor does not jump to the corner when the selection expands.

What probably happens is that the application that does the background
selection does not handle XInput valuators properly. An extremely
similar bug was fixed in Qt recently.

The reason this bug does not happen in Arch is that it does not provide
this new XInput data so it uses "classic X" cursor location.

To fix this bug we need to find out which app does XFCE desktop
selection, how it reads XInput data and fix that.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 781402] Re: Ubuntu 11.04 / Unity freezing when screen is 'woken up'

2011-09-28 Thread loke
I am facing the same issue with Intel 915. When I leave the computer for
some time, and come back after half an hour or so. I find that the
screen remains black with the mouse pointer visible. Seems like the
password window appears as well, but does not display.

This does not happen when lock for a minute or two, but after long
periods.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 861896] [NEW] Touch ownership events for pointer emulated touches not being sent

2011-09-28 Thread Chase Douglas
Public bug reported:

When a grab of a pointer-emulated touch event is rejected or replayed,
further touch grabs fail to activate. This regression is caused by patch
507_dix_Ensure_touch_events_are_delivered_to_next_client.patch.
Reverting the patch restores this functionality.

The patch was contributed a few weeks ago by Carlos Garnacho. After
reviewing the patch again I can't figure out why it is needed. I will
follow up with Carlos to figure out what is going on, but in the
meantime we will revert the patch.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 582809] Re: Synaptics Clickpad touchpad buttons are not working

2011-09-28 Thread Theron Muller
Octavian,
Could you please explain what the change in status for this bug means? This is
still very much a problem with my HP Pavilion dv7. In fact, it's gotten worse.
At one point with this line in psmouse.conf: options psmouse proto=any I had
right-scrolling and the right click for the mouse working. Now I can use that
line and get right-scrolling or I can use options psmouse proto=exps and get
the right click. I haven't yet found something that will give me both again.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 861775] [NEW] Xserver-xorg eats all memory and swap

2011-09-28 Thread EricDHH
Public bug reported:

Oneirc beta amd64, packages today 09/28

When clicking some apps like vlc, xorg claims all ram and swap. The desktop
turns to a still image, video stops, sounds stops, the harddisk led lights
continuesly. This is the same effect as in 826504, but not in the intel driver.
It took around 15min when the mouse can be moved again, but nothing is
clickable anymore. The system must be shutted down by power cord or reset key.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 545257] Re: gnome-screensaver-gl-helper crashed with SIGSEGV in XF86DRIQueryVersion()

2011-09-28 Thread Petar Bogdanovic
Not sure if this is exactly what I'm seeing but on hybrid-gpu systems
(intel+fglrx), there are situations, where having fglrx loaded without
actually being used by X is something one could want.

Power management for example.. without fglrx, the fan of a HP Pavilion
dv7 laptop won't stop. With fglrx, the laptop in question is quiet:

$ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core
Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Device 6740

$ lsmod | egrep 'fglrx|i915'
i915 451068 2
drm_kms_helper 40745 1 i915
fglrx2434640 0
drm 184164 3 i915,drm_kms_helper

Thanks, this is a dupe of your other bug but for some reason doesn't
have the necessary debugging logs. (Not your fault, looks like the
apport hook messed up.)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 822144] Re: Touchpad with integrated click buttons: right button missing, both mouse buttons act as left

2011-09-28 Thread Octavian
I have the exact same problem here. I also installed Ubuntu 11.10 (i
used the "Beta 1 LiveCD" but my packages are all up to date at the
moment)

I'll try to attatch the log-files too... (launchpad is a bit confusing)

PS: this bug affects all Ubuntu-Version. If i use the "PS2 Driver" the
rightclicking part works just fine. But i didn't get the
(multitouch)-scrolling to work.

2011-09-28 Thread Bryce Harrington
Hmm, this might be just a dupe of bug #828684 and just coincidental that
you got both issues at the same time, however in case not this may be
worth some further investigation.

First thing though --- are you able to reproduce this bug reliably? If
so, we can try to narrow it down more. If not, maybe we should just
dupe to bug #828684.

It is interesting that this popped up during usage. The bug itself may
be a dupe of bug #828684, though.

Are you able to reproduce this bug? Have you seen it more than this one
time?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 760632] Re: Resizing Konsole crashes the whole system

2011-09-28 Thread Philip Muškovac
I'm not part of the Ubuntu X team, so I don't know why this isn't
getting an SRU, but please don't mess around with the driver script from
nvidia unless you know exactly what you're doing. Also, the driver from
nvidia isn't supported in ubuntu, so please don't suggest it (at least
not here in the bug tracker). The best workaround currently is adding
'ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates' to your sources, which has an updated
driver for natty (280.13 right now).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work

2011-09-28 Thread Seth Forshee
I may have found a way to detect where to look for the trackstick
buttons. I've uploaded a new driver to:

http://people.canonical.com/~sforshee/alps-touchpad/psmouse-alps-0.8
/psmouse-alps-dkms_0.8_all.deb

Please, *everyone* with a trackstick test this new version and let me
know if you see any issues with the trackstick buttons (the ones between
the touchpad and the keyboard). Thanks!

Hemanti: This version still has the packet dumping support. If you could
get a packet dump for your stray click issue as described in comment
#442 it would be very helpful.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work

2011-09-28 Thread jcat
Hi Seth.

Apologies, I was looking around for support for this when it din't work
and just assumed it was the usual Alps on a Dell.

I have found someone who has created an initial stab at a driver for the
Cypress, I'm going to test it shortly.

http://lwn.net/Articles/456366/

I miss the kernel bug tracker :(

Cheers,
jcat

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 852873] Re: GLX is broken for several commercial OpenGL games

2011-09-28 Thread Joeman1
It does seem odd that its been confirmed, but not assigned to anyone.
Unfortunately, for me, this seems typical as I have other confirmed bugs
in from the beginning of the year and nothing has been done.

The work around seems to work for me as it only seems to affect 32bit
games (Ironically, ID based games only (Doom3, ETQW, Etc...) :-D), but
64 bit games seems to work fine as does desktop composting.
