[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 879243] [NEW] wooo missing dependency
Public bug reported: nothing like having a couple of brews and getting annoyed by kpackagekit and deciding to give the upgrade a go, and then seeing xorg fail. Even better is having to troubleshoot xorg via an android ssh session (is it X11 or x11, and where the heck is the tab...). And then finding out that the 'nv' open source driver doesn't exist anymore (where's that xkcd about X). At least I know sed and vesa worked. The nvidia-96 driver FAILS to build. It complains about the source not being present (it is). I figured maybe it was looking for an old school linux symlink (no), or a linux-source-`uname -a` symlink (no). It requires linux-headers-`uname -r` followed by a dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-96 and then service restart kdm Please fix the dependency. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 754000] Re: Running Unity disables Xorg's 3-finger click support (middle click)
** Description changed: as soon as i put down three fingers, the love handles appear. on the macbook pro a middle click is done with a 3 finger click. this is very low priority, and i could even see a wontfix. there's a simple work around to just not put all 3 fingers down at the same time and then click after all 3 are down. Please note this bug is about physically clicking a clickpad with 3 fingers. 3 finger tapping is different and has been intentionally overridden in Unity 3D by new gestures. + + This bug only happens in Unity 3D. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk
hi Alessandro, one question: did you do a reboot after installing this driver?? Normally, it is necessary to reboot the system after installation to get this driver into action. You also can test the successfull installation with the instruction here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/37084/nvidia-driver-activated-but- currently-not-in-use With this instruction, you will see, that your driver is in use after rebooting your system. And you also notice the successfull installation through an immediate downdrop of your GPU-temperature and the icon for the GPU in your panel (if you have sensors-applet in your panel) also changes to the correct one. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 876711] Re: Screen brightness resets to minmized when screen turns off
I have the same laptop (Dell Latitude D430) as Bobik-s and am experiencing what appears to be the same problem with a fresh install of , so I'll add some more information. I tried adding the following kernel boot parameters one-by-one: acpi_backlight=vendor, acpi_backlight=video dell_laptop.backlight=0 None of them make any difference. The gnome-settings-daemon PPA didn't appear to make a difference either. The Fn+Up/Fn+Dn work correctly at the login screen, but only if the screen has not already automatically blanked. If the computer is left at the login screen for ~10 minutes, then it will automatically blank. Move the mouse and the backlight returns to partial brightness, but Fn+Up/Fn+Dn do nothing. System Settings - Screen contains a slider to adjust screen brightness. If I first click on it with the mouse, I can then use the Left and Right arrow keys to move the slider back and forth. After every 4 or 5 presses of the left (or right) arrow key, the brightness changes, alternating between brighter or dimmer. At either end of the slider the screen brightness appears to alternate between minimum and maximum. When the slider is 1 / 4 of the way across, the brightness alternates between 25% and 75%. When the slider is near the middle, the alternations are barely perceptible – perhaps between 40% and 60% A question about something which may be related—the battery indicator at the top of the screen is always visible, even when plugged in. Isn't it supposed to disappear or change to indicate that it is running on AC? Clicking on the indicator shows “Battery (charged)”. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 876561] Re: Egalax touchscreen on Exopc Slate stops working
Hi Sir, i am working for install the last release of ubuntu in the exopc, for use it in a scool, is a very good project for port ubuntu in the scool on a touchscreen device. I have the same problem, but i have understand this: The touchscreen don't stop working, but it waits for a multi-touch gesture, and occurs only when pressed while you press with one finger on the screen, also press the second finger. At this time the device waits for multitouch gestures, and does not recognize that the fingers were lifted from the touch screen. Try running ginn to understand the problem. If you are running a multi-touch gesture by pressing it with both fingers, the tablet does not bug throughout the session. For me it would be very important to solve, I would not explain the school, which must be executed before a gesture multitouch otherwise ubuntu hangs and becomes unusable. My previous comment (about trying the reporting tool twice) was a response to the second part of Walter's entry.
