[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 754000] Re: Running Unity disables Xorg's 3-finger click support (middle click)
1. The two finger problem happens only with the PPA 2. I do not have the option of tap to click in system settngs mouse and touchpad. In touchpad, the only available options are two fingure scrolling and pointer speed 3. dpkg -l | grep synaptics gives ii xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.4.1-1ubuntu2vv1 Synaptics TouchPad driver for X.Org server Is the two finger right click problem new? I mean does it only happen with the PPA? Do you have tap to click turned on in System Settings Mouse and Touchpad? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 868400] Re: Synaptics touchpad stops working
I'm getting the same error (touching the touchpad = mouse going crazy - it eventually settles in the top right corner and is unresponsive to either clicks or movement, and none of the above work arounds have worked for me. I've noticed, however, that if I plug in a USB mouse after the bug occurs, I can move the pointer freely, but the system refuses to recognise any mouse clicks, whether from the USB mouse or the touchpad. If I plug in a USB mouse before the error occurs, it works fine until I touch the touchpad, then the above occurs. In case it helps, I've also been unable to disable the touchpad through any ubuntu settings (including dconf), whether for when typing, or just turning the damn thing off altogether. The function key combo, which is built into the laptop, does work however. Also, this bug was occurring randomly when first installed (every second or third reboot had it occurring), but since I ran all the latest updates, it now occurs every single time from the first touch of the touchpad. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/868400 Title: Synaptics touchpad stops working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/868400/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 775112] Re: mouse pointer change doesn't work
I tried 2 left handed mouse pointer themes in X/Ubuntu 11.10. in 10.10 they worked sometimes I tried to use Yellow Dot - Left Handed (05/16/2007) and Obsidian (left handed version) 1.0.1 (03/11/2010). Only in 10.04 the left handed pointers worked normal. It seems the same sometimes in 11.10 … result for Unity and Xfce4: 1. Intel GMA The desktop shows only the normal mouse pointer. If I start an application like Firefox, the pointer switched inside to the left handed theme. The pointer lay-out changes to right handed if I reach the titelbar of the application or move my mouse pointer over the desktop. btw: I used a fully upgraded 11.10 X/Ubuntu system. 2. Nvidia In a live session with Ubuntu 11.10 is was'nt possible te switch to an left handed mouse. I saw right handed response after my change to a left handed mouse in Unity. In 10.04 Yellow Dot - Left Handed works fine (with a GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS and and also with an Intel GMA X4500). I did make install as user → switched to the yellowdot-theme → log-out/log-in. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 786283] [NEW] Window resize (Nvidia driver for Kbuntu)
You have been subscribed to a public bug: The Kbuntu implementation of the NVIDIA driver is wrong. This is a fresh install on an Intel mb (DX58SO) with i7 cpu. eVGA GTX285 graphics adapter. Resizing the konsole window causes a freeze. I can see a cursor like it is hung in resize mode. Logs show no errors. Removing the Nvidia driver makes the problem go away. Adding it back without 3d acceleration does not help. I do not believe it is Nvidia's driver that is the problem, since I have been using this hardware with Nvidia drivers for 2 years in Opensuse with NO problems what so ever. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Window resize (Nvidia driver for Kbuntu) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/786283 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 786781] [NEW] Display corruption, multi monitor, Radeon X600, Invalid EDID
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Display corruption may result when using multiple monitors when one of the monitors is connected to the video card but does not have power. Ubuntu version is 11.04, desktop 32-bit edition. I was running the live version off a 4 GB USB drive. The problem occurs regardless of whether using persistence or not. I am using an ATI Radeon X600 which has dual DVI-I connectors. One connector was attached to a Dell flat panel, E197FP, and the other to an LG L1750S. Both connections were analog, using a DVI-VGA adapter. The problem occurs under these circumstances: Both monitors are connected to the video card. The Dell monitor is on and being used as the main display. The LG monitor does not have a power connection. Note! This does not mean it was simply not turned on; I mean it actually did not have the power cable plugged in. In this scenario, severe display corruption may result. I repeated this test many times. I observed that after the splash screen, the desktop would display fine for one or two seconds and the mouse would be movable. However after those one or two seconds, the mouse would freeze, and the display would go blank for one or two seconds. When the display returned, the desktop wallpaper was gone and the display was behaving very strangely. I will attach some screen shots. This problem does NOT occur if: * only one monitor is connected to the video card, and it is receiving power * both monitors are plugged in and receiving power--regardless of whether they are actually turned on or not Having the monitor on or off is irrelevant; it is when the monitor is connected to the video card but does not have a power connection at all. This causes the software to be unable to read the monitor's configuration. Another interesting note is that I could switch back and forth to the text terminals (Ctrl+Alt+F#) and the graphic display. While the text terminals were always displayed correctly, the graphic display would be corrupted in different ways when I switched back to it each time. Sometimes it would look and act normal. Other times it would act like it does when it first boots (no wallpaper, things not erasing, background not redrawing). Other times it is completely corrupted, displaying only colored bars and patterns. Even in this state, though, I could sometimes switch to a text terminal and back and the graphical display would be semi-usable. Screenshot 1: Background does not redraw when dragging window until the mouse is released. IMPORTANT: The right half of the image appears in the screen shot but not on screen. The vertical program bar is NOT actually visible on the monitor. Screenshot 2: Example of menus not erasing. In this screenshot, I first pulled down some of the menus from the menu bar at the top of the screen. When the menu closes, the background is not redrawn, but the menu simply turns a light gray. Notice the remnants of the menu to the upper left corner of the window. You can see the Location menu item somewhat. IMPORTANT: Again, in this screen shot, only the left half is visible in reality. The right half of the image, including the vertical program bar, is not visible on screen. Screenshot 3: Colored bars/pattern corruption. IMPORTANT: In reality the pattern covered the ENTIRE screen and the right half of the screen was not visible. On the actual display, the left half of the image was completely covered in colored bars, and the right half of the image, including the vertical program bar, were not visible. At the end of the dmesg output there is a very good hint. Screenshot attachments and dmesg output coming momentarily. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Display corruption, multi monitor, Radeon X600, Invalid EDID https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/786781 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585853] Re: Not possible to use xdm/wdm, only can use gdm (Lucid, Maverick)
I seem to be seeing this bug also. Trying Slim doesn't get past black screen after the Ubuntu loading logo. I don't even get access to the virtual terminals, but I have SSH access from another computer and the xorg logs seem very similar to the original poster's, although it seems not to be a permissions issue. The intel driver and drm issue seems to be there... The workaround in comment #13 works for me. Thank you very much. Hope this can be fixed properly. The keyboard is plugged into the computer via a USB hub in my monitor (Dell WFP 2005). I change the keyboard's layout via a call to xmodmap in ~/.xsessionrc, but by the time I can start using the desktop after logon, the layout is reset to default. I know the initial layout change succeeds because outputting it with 'xmodmap -pm' shows the expected values. The keyboard at that time is recognized as an Apple model, as shown by /proc/pub/input/devices, so nothing seems out of order there. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-keyboard (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete -- Keyboard settings from xsessionrc are reset https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/801764 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-keyboard in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 813094] [NEW] Fn keys don't work when a context/application menu is popped up on
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When a context menu is popped up, pressing Fn + any sound function key doesn't work at all. The other non-sound related function keys do work properly when a menu is shown, however no libnotify message pops up as normally (e.g. when changing brightness, enabling/disabling touchpad). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 886677] [NEW] scroll lock key does not toggle keyboard LED
Public bug reported: I have a vakoss illuminated keyboard that ties the keyboard illumination to the scroll lock LED. Presumably this is to allow both software and direct (via the scroll lock key) control of the keyboard illumination (e.g. the setting is preserved for different virtual terminals.) Anyway, as the scroll lock key hasn't worked in Ubuntu for many years (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xkeyboard- config/+bug/59417?comments=all), this keyboard does not work correctly without manual modification of xmodmap stuff. ** Affects: xkeyboard-config (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/886677 Title: scroll lock key does not toggle keyboard LED To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xkeyboard-config/+bug/886677/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
