[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 894486] Re: After a clean install the touchpad doesn't work untill rebooting xserver or pc

2011-11-29 Thread Bryce Harrington
Fwiw, we've changed neither -synaptics nor xserver in precise compared
with oneiric, so I'm suspecting this to be due either to a gnome-
settings-daemon or kernel change.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 897904] [NEW] nvidia-current(-updates) stuck on Kernel 3.2

2011-11-29 Thread Raphael Gradenwitz
Public bug reported:

Hi Alberto,

after every kernel update the dkms mechanism builds the new module but
since Ubuntu-Kernel 3.2.0-1-generic (ubuntu 12.04 precise amd64) the
module is built but the X-server freezes on startup while trying to load
the nvidia-module. Booting with older (pre 3.2) Kernel everything is
fine.

Hardware:
Sony Vaio VGN-Z21MN (Z-Series) with Hybrid Graphics
nouveau works but not with the full functionality i need (3d, hdmi, Twin-View..)
The intel graphics chip works as well but does not support hdmi.

regards,
Raphael Gradenwitz

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 892440] Re: Xorg crashes when using kicad.

2011-11-29 Thread Argyle
Crash works equally well under compiz and metacity. I could not get the
crash to occur while using either Google Earth (I got plenty of other
crashes from that) or Kolourpaint as described in Bug #415357, though I
have not spent nearly as much time using these programs as kicad. I
couldn't (thusfar) confirm it to occur using Gimp either.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 897821] [NEW] Null pointer dereference in drm_debugfs_remove_files

2011-11-29 Thread MarcS

Launching Firefox (from the KDE panel) sporadically causes a kernel Oops (Null
pointer dereference) in drm_debugfs_remove_files (output is attached).
The system continues to run, and after returning to the desktop session by

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745608] Re: [915GM] font corruption on Intel GMA900

2011-11-29 Thread Miroslav Georgiev
I'm with IBM X41 tablet and have same problem. lspci give me the follow:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML
Express Graphics Controller (rev 03)

I agree with Dominik P (dpsenner). It's hard to define this problem. I
found this bug after few days of searching. So I assume out there they
are many more people with this problem. I thing it should have higher
importance.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 868400] Re: Synaptics touchpad stops working

2011-11-29 Thread florin
#Doug McMahon
No problem, thanks for trying. Just a thought: bugs like this one make people
go to stable and mature OS's; it makes no sense to develop fancy windows
managers when basic things do not work as expected. And this bug is probably
affecting 90+% of laptop users (I think Synaptic touchpads are the most used by
manufacturers).

Can we do something to make it easier to trace this bug?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 582809] Re: Synaptics Clickpad touchpad buttons are not working

2011-11-29 Thread l300lvl
@tuxor1337: That is exactly how I felt. So, when I saw OpenSUSE 12.1
come out, knowing it already had the support I wanted, I was baffled. I
said screw it, and made the switch to Gnome 3. I now have an almost
fully functional HP DM1Z. If only there was no pesky watchdog timer
/facepalm

While Mint 12 is coming along nicely and may have the support, I wanted
to stay with the "Maverick" series. Newer kernels have other regressions
that I will just suck up, so in all honesty I still look forward to this
problem being fixed and a patch being released upstream!

florin wrote >

You can try this - YMMV
Set up the touchpad as you'd like as far as the 'disable while typing' & 'tap
to click' options
Then inactivate the mouse plugin itself, the setting prior to making the
plugin inactive will be held.

If needing to re-adjust the plugin setting you must re-activate the mouse first
To deactivate the mouse plugin

gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.mouse active false

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 897665] [NEW] Black screen after a system restart

2011-11-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Restarting the system (by pressing the restart button or issuing the
reboot command) causes the system to hang on a black screen on the next
reboot. The boot process seems to work fine, except that it ends up with
a black screen.

Performing an hard reset (hold down the power button for 5+ seconds)
allows the system to start properly again.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 897676] [NEW] Closing the lid makes the dispaly go black

2011-11-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Closing the lid and then reopening makes the screen go black. The
netbook is not suspending or hibernating, just the screen goes black and
there is no way to revert back to normality.

Moving the mouse or pressing some keys make the screen flickering with
the desktop appearing for about 100 ms, and then it goes black again.

The only thing left to do is to perform a hard reboot by holding the
power button down.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 860053] [NEW] "N-Trig Pen eraser" causes mouse pointer to reset periodically

2011-11-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I recently installed Ubuntu 11.04 on a Lenovo T410s and noticed that the
mouse cursor/pointer would jump/reset periodically. If I had Twinview on
the pointer would reset somewhere on the other monitor. I turned that
off and the pointer still reset but within the only existing screen
available. I disabled all the mouse input devices and enabled them one
at a time starting with my USB mouse until I found the one that caused
the resets.

I was able to temporarily fix the problem by disabling the "N-Trig Pen eraser"
input device.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 827080] [NEW] System Freeze Every Start-Up

2011-11-29 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Every Start-Up of Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat (10.10) on my Toshiba
Satellite Laptop, the whole system freezes a few minutes after Logging
in. This is about the time I have to open Firefox (but the problem
occurs even if I do not open any software). SysRq+Alt+REISUB has no
effect so I have to do a hard restart. This usually fixes the problem
(when I log-in again) but sometimes I have to restart in this manner two
or three times. I think it maybe a GUI issue.

Any suggestions?

Here is my Xorg.0.log file

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 897610] [NEW] GPU lockups while monitors are sleeping

2011-11-29 Thread fedesog
Public bug reported:

Apparently random GPU lockups happen while monitors are asleep. During last
episode something must have gone wrong so I couldn't wake up the screen, and
digging in kernel logs after reset I found out many similar events. I don't see
any consistent pattern, pc is on most of the time and there are days without
any problem.
Last lockup:
Nov 28 22:34:13 leprechaun kernel: [97807.584053] radeon :01:00.0: GPU
lockup CP stall for more than 1msec
happened a few minutes after monitors switched off and more than one hour
before touching mouse and keyboard so waking up shoudn't be the trigger, at
least in the last case.
I'll pay attention to the running applications but besides firefox,
thunderbird, gedit, boinc and maybe rhythmbox there isn't much running while
monitors are sleeping.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 883030] Re: /usr/lib/libGL.so symlink missing

2011-11-29 Thread eile
I think it is in fact not a bug. In previous Ubuntu versions there was a
symlink from /usr/lib/libGL.so to the specific library, which was
cached by CMake on my system. Restarting the CMakeCache resolves this
issue.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 313514]

It's not only laptops now. Many modern mice are affected, in fact I'm
suffering now due to this bug. The only affordable mouse that conforms
to my disability is unusable due to this bug. So for me, this is an
accessibility issue as well.
