[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 408903] Re: Does not handle microphone mute button (KEY_MICMUTE)
The microphone mute key yields Linux key input event KEY_MICMUTE which has the value 248. Add 8 to get the X KeyCode number, you get 256. This is greater than the maximum KeyCode that X handles, 255. See: http://www.x.org/wiki/XI2 The problem is similar to the problem with the Zoom hotkey combination on the X220, Fn-Space. The key combination yields KEY_ZOOM, value 372. The corresponding X KeyCode, 380, is also above 255. A workaround is to remap the keycodes to ones that X can handle. See: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Installing_Ubuntu_11.04_(Natty_Narwhal)_on_a_ThinkPad_X220#Fix_for_hotkey_shortcomings (This page doesn't describe a way to control the LED on the Microphone Mute key.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/408903 Title: Does not handle microphone mute button (KEY_MICMUTE) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/408903/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 915265] [NEW] Unity launcher corruption on resume from suspend
Public bug reported: The unity launcher is reliably corrupted upon resume from suspend with some (all?) NVidia hardware with the proprietary NVidia driver. All other visual elements seem to draw correctly, it's just the unity launcher that has this problem. The launcher looks fine after it redraws (for example, if you mouse over it). The problem is not reproducible on Intel or AMD graphics hardware, and I'm told (by Ted Gould) that it doesn't affect the nouveau driver. I have not tested the nouveau driver myself. This problem been reported several times in the comments of bug 676166, I'm filing this separate bug for clarity since 676166 is overloaded. To reproduce: 1) Suspend 2) Resume 2a) login, if necessary. Note that the login screen (lightdm) displays properly 3) Notice the corrupted launcher 4) Mouse over the launcher; the launcher redraws and the corruption goes away The problem affects 11.10, and is not fixed by upgrading to more recent unity, compiz, or nvidia drivers from oneiric-updates or even the most recent SRU candidates not yet in oneiric-proposed. Currently I have the following installed and the problem still exists: ii nvidia-common 1:0.2.35.1 Find obsolete NVIDIA drivers ii nvidia-current280.13-0ubuntu6 NVIDIA binary Xorg driver, kernel module and VDPAU library ii nvidia-current-updates285.05.09-0ubuntu0.1 NVIDIA binary Xorg driver, kernel module and VDPAU library ii nvidia-settings 280.13-0ubuntu2.1 Tool of configuring the NVIDIA graphics driver ii nvidia-settings-updates 285.05.09-0ubuntu0.1 Tool of configuring the NVIDIA graphics driver Unity SRU candidate (not yet in -proposed): ii unity 4.28.0-0ubuntu1~ppa1 Interface designed for efficiency of space and interaction. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 813566] Re: Greeter not displayed correctly on multi monitor setup
This bug report conflates several distinct bugs, some of which are fixed. For a period of time in oneiric lightdm was attempting to set extended displays and was doing so incorrectly, resulting in a corrupted external display. We believe this particular issue is resolved in the oneiric release. In some of the dupe bugs it is mentioned that lightdm mirrors the external display, resulting in a smaller resolution on both screens, such as 1024x768. This is a known issue, bug #874241. Jane mentions in her bug report some irregularities in the display when switching from the login session to the user session. These are transitory and go away once logged in, but they look poor. This only occurs when the logged in session differs from the login screen and X needs to perform a modeset; unfortunately this is a typical situation for docking stations or laptops with external monitors. I will undupe Jane's bug #850885 to focus on that part of the problem. For Daniel's issue, it's hard to say what's going on there given only a screenshot, but the conditions of reproducing it are completely different than the other bugs (i.e. on logout rather than login), and it is with a very different driver setup than everyone else so it's likely to be completely unrelated. Daniel, if you can still reproduce it under Precise please file a new bug report. Since I think the crux of this original report (and the balance of the dupes) was the first listed issue, which should be solved now, I'm going to close out this bug report. If anyone thinks they have this same problem, we'd ask that you file *new* bug reports (`ubuntu-bug lightdm`, or `ubuntu-bug xorg` as appropriate) so we get properly up to date logs. Screenshots or screen photos are very helpful as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/813566 Title: Greeter not displayed correctly on multi monitor setup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm-gtk-greeter/+bug/813566/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Since this is a production workstation, I can not run Alpha nor Beta releases. But is there any way to backport the Precise lightdm version to Oneiric, I'd be happy to try it out. I wrote a report just a few comments above my screenshot. What else can I do to help? Another thing I've noticed both at work with the Xinerama setup and at home with a simple Nvidia TwinView setup (with two monitors with different resolutions) is that the background image is tiled in the middle of my extra screens while in the login session. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 755841] Re: [sandybridge] Graphics tearing when playing video
You should not experience tearing if you disable compositing and use gl or vaapi output. Tearing still happens with xv/x11 due to vsync not working properly on Sandy Bridge yet, even with compositing disabled. - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- intel/+bug/755841/comments/89 I confirm that this workaround works on my system with Intel/ATI Hybrid graphics, using Intel graphics as active. I'm in KDE, before playing video I will switch off KDE compositing (Alt+Shift+F2) then play video using mplayer with gl output. No tearing at all! :-) Finally, I can watch movies in great shape on my 32 HDMI TV ^_^ Using VLC still tears, because when with VLC-GLX the video is corrupted, and with XV there's still video tearing even with compositing disabled. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/755841 Title: [sandybridge] Graphics tearing when playing video To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz-core/+bug/755841/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 805700] Re: NattyOneiric - intel 82945G/GZ graphics card - Intel driver fails
Hi there. This is a VERY common problem with Intel chipsets and video cards. I have been posting some steps in different questions in the answer tracker, and those usually work to solve the problem. Here they are: 1.- Search the values of HorizSync and VertRefresh of your monitor. 2.- Open a terminal and type sudo X configure :1 without quotes. This will create a new xorg.conf file. 3.- In the same terminal, type gksu gedit xorg.conf.new without quotes. This will open a text editor with the file that you have just created in there. 4.- You will see that it is divided in sections. Search for the Monitor section, and before the EndSection line of that section, add this two lines, without quotes: HorizSync 30.0 - 81.0 VertRefresh 56.0 - 75.0 5.- Replace the values in there with the values found in step 1. 6.- Save and close the file. If you want to, you can put it into a pastebin so I can check it before you move. If you do not want to, then move on to the next step. 7.- In a terminal, type sudo mv xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf without quotes. This will move the file to its correct position. 8.- Restart the PC. In case it does NOT works, copy this command into a paper: sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and boot into text mode, to enter this command without quotes and remove the file. If it works, please ignore this step. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/805700 Title: NattyOneiric - intel 82945G/GZ graphics card - Intel driver fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/805700/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 859474] Re: Dragging with touchpad unusable
Although the solutions proposed to somewhat fix the problem, they don't do so very effectively. With just the SingleTapTimeout set to 360 click and drag is improved (although not fixed) however single taps get a noticeable delay (which is bearable). Enabling FastTaps seems to fix this for some people, however it makes double clicking quite difficult. It does seem that the issue isn't so much the default configuration, but the gesture required to initiate the tap and drag. As I said previously, and even with the SingleTapTimeout set to 360, I still need to start dragging before that timeout is up otherwise it won't work. The gesture should be (Tap)+(Press), no dragging should be required to initiate the drag, as when you are trying to do sensitive dragging, arbitrarily dragging before the timeout to initiate the gesture is not an option. A (Tap)+(Press) gesture shouldn't be ambiguous, as a double click is a (Tap)+(Tap). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/859474 Title: Dragging with touchpad unusable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/859474/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 754000] Re: Running Unity disables Xorg's 3-finger click support (middle click)
I can confirm 3-finger tap-to-click does not work, even with the MT Grab Handles plugin disabled in ccsm. But this is not a bug in the PPA and I did only intend to fix actual clicking with clickpads for now. From memory, the reason for this is that unity unconditionally captures all 3-finger touch events. And the only way I know of preventing this is to hack the unity code (last time I checked about 9 months ago). This is why my fix works with clickpads and not touchpads (or tap to click). Because a 3-finger click on a clickpad is a physical button event that happens after a 3-finger touch, so it's easy to handle the button event even while unity is already handling the touch event that happened before it. I think a fix in unity itself is required to support touchpads or tap- to-click. It probably makes no sense that unity should still be capturing all 3-finger touches even when the MT Grab Handles plugin is disabled. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/754000 Title: Running Unity disables Xorg's 3-finger click support (middle click) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mactel-support/+bug/754000/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
