[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 454388] Re: [i915g] intel card connected to a monitor acer AL1916 stuck at low resolution due a DDC issue
I would like to point out that this we be less an issue if Ubuntu simply had a dialog to simply manually set a resolution! Every operating system I know can do this. If not EDID data can be retrieved (like with old monitors, or monitors hooked up via BNC connectors, or monitors behind a KVM switch, but I also know some monitors that have defunct DDC, so no EDID either) Ubuntu suddenly becomes extremely user-unfriendly and archaic, you have to craft your own xorg.conf and compile modelines again (yuck!!). Devels, *please* give us a simple slider in the monitor dialog to just simply set resolution and vertical frequency by hand. If you don't want to bother a newbie user with that, you could hide it behind a checkbox advanced settings. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 916163] [NEW] num lock does not remap to caps lock correctly from keyboard layout program
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hi , I have a T400 lenovo Laptop running Ubuntu 11.10 I would like to remap the caps lock key to have the same functionality as num lock key. I tried the software keyboard layout that comes packaged with ubuntu. I opened it. From there I clicked Options and another menu poped out. Then I click on Caps Lock key behavior and choose Make Caps Lock an additional Num Lock After this for some reason when I press Caps Lock nothing happens. However , when I enable my Num Lock and then press Caps Lock then this disables num lock. so the only thing not working is enabling num lock with the caps lock. Could you take a look at this please. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 855429] [NEW] nvidia-96 drivers causing garbled text, display on Geforce 4600
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have a sony vaio desktop (PCV RZ221) which runs windows xp. I installed ubuntu on a separate partition. The install runs fine but the graphics runs on fallback drivers even though it has a nvidia geforce ti 4660 graphics card installed. I have tried installing the nvidia drivers (nvidia-96) which were recommended by the 'Additional Drivers' application. This results in complete garbled text and video. Everything turns white once I restart the system after installing the nvidia drivers. The nouveau drivers do not work etiher. I have tried three different versions of ubuntu (10.10, 11.04 and 11.10) and all of them have the same issue. You have been subscribed to a public bug: Ubuntu 11.10, with lightdm 1.0.6 with nvidia 173.14.30 drivers. User A logs in. User B then users the Switch User Account indicator, locking user A's session. After completing their task, user B, leaves the computer, and the screen saver starts, locking the session. User A returns to the computer, and switches to their session. After unlocking their session, the desktop background is corrupted, and displays User B's background wallpaper and files and folders on user B's desktop.
