[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work
ndkhoi168: There's no way for us to know that you have the particular kind of touchpad that this driver supports. Supposing it is, you need to use the synclient program to review and set the options. Simply installing the d river does not necessarily do any good. You need to be sure the kernel module is loading and then configure everything. I don't see any attachments with your post, but I'm not sure they would help me anyway. I want to see the output of $ synclient -l I see this output. ~$ synclient -l Parameter settings: LeftEdge= 300 RightEdge = 1750 TopEdge = 210 BottomEdge = 1190 FingerLow = 93 FingerHigh = 98 FingerPress = 250 MaxTapTime = 180 MaxTapMove = 107 MaxDoubleTapTime= 180 SingleTapTimeout= 180 ClickTime = 100 FastTaps= 0 EmulateMidButtonTime= 75 EmulateTwoFingerMinZ= 141 EmulateTwoFingerMinW= 7 VertScrollDelta = 48 HorizScrollDelta= 0 VertEdgeScroll = 1 HorizEdgeScroll = 0 CornerCoasting = 0 VertTwoFingerScroll = 1 HorizTwoFingerScroll= 0 MinSpeed= 1 MaxSpeed= 1.75 AccelFactor = 0.0819336 TrackstickSpeed = 40 EdgeMotionMinZ = 15 EdgeMotionMaxZ = 80 EdgeMotionMinSpeed = 1 EdgeMotionMaxSpeed = 195 EdgeMotionUseAlways = 0 TouchpadOff = 0 LockedDrags = 0 LockedDragTimeout = 5000 RTCornerButton = 0 RBCornerButton = 0 LTCornerButton = 0 LBCornerButton = 0 TapButton1 = 1 TapButton2 = 3 TapButton3 = 3 ClickFinger1= 1 ClickFinger2= 1 ClickFinger3= 1 CircularScrolling = 0 CircScrollDelta = 0.1 CircScrollTrigger = 0 CircularPad = 0 PalmDetect = 1 PalmMinWidth= 20 PalmMinZ= 99 CoastingSpeed = 100 CoastingFriction= 50 PressureMotionMinZ = 15 PressureMotionMaxZ = 80 PressureMotionMinFactor = 1 PressureMotionMaxFactor = 1 GrabEventDevice = 1 TapAndDragGesture = 1 AreaLeftEdge= 0 AreaRightEdge = 0 AreaTopEdge = 0 AreaBottomEdge = 0 If, after a system restart, you can do this to see if the psmouse module is running. $ /sbin/lsmod will list all modules loaded. make sure psmouse is in there. I'm not sure if I'm experiencing the same bug or a different one. I'm using Lucid. I have the GM45 chipset. I first noticed bad performance in a game after an upgrade. I've since tried a lot of different kernel versions with these results: 2.6.32-36-generic -- fine 2.6.32-37-generic -- fine 2.6.35-30-generic -- fine 2.6.35-32-generic -- fine 2.6.38-8-generic -- slow 2.6.38-10-generic -- slow 2.6.38-13-generic -- slow 2.6.39-2-generic -- slow 2.6.39-3-generic -- slow 3.0.0-14-generic -- slow I'm not changing anything else when I test, just rebooting loading a different kernel, then running glxgears. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 912992] Re: Primary laptop display not working, external monitor works fine.
Yep, I'm running 11.10 at the moment. It needs the 'noapic' flag, but apart from that, it works well. I have attached the output of 'xrandr --verbose > xrandr.txt' from 11.10, and I will boot into 12.04 in 15 mins or so to get the output of the other commands you asked for. Thanks for the debugging help :) I really appreciate it! ** Attachment added: "xrandr.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/912992/+attachment/2680074/+files/xrandr.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/912992 Title: Primary laptop display not working, external monitor works fine. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 913183] Re: EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop.
For GPU lockup bugs with Intel graphics, you need to collect the output of 'dmesg' and your /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state file. Both of these must be collected while the machine is locked up (e.g. by sshing into the sick machine over ethernet). See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze for additional info. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/913183 Title: EQ overflowing. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 912992] Re: Primary laptop display not working, external monitor works fine.
Interesting! Well, the logs look ok; your system is seeing your monitor and graphics card capabilities just fine, and the logs look perfectly normal. Which, obviously, is a blatant lie. Now, you have sandybridge graphics, and we certainly have had some reported issues with graphics on these systems. I think the CRTC mapping may be off in some situations. Fortunately these types of issues are getting high priority attention upstream, if we can collect the right info. Enable drm debugging. Run `sudo xdiagnose`, it's the first checkbox. Enable it, hit apply, wait for grub to rebuild, then reboot and collect `sudo dmesg > dmesg.txt` and post that here. We can review that to see if it is a CRTC mapping issue. It sounds like you're currently running an earlier version that does not have this bug? If so, please collect 'xrandr --verbose > xrandr.txt` from that earlier version and post that here too. We can review that to see if it is an EDID/modeline issue. With an external monitor attached, run the command `xrandr --output LVDS1 off; xrandr --output LVDS1 --auto` which will see if simply re- loading the display is enough to get it initialized properly. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/912992 Title: Primary laptop display not working, external monitor works fine. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 137234] Re: [i945] Second display not enabled with "intel" video driver
Also affects Ubuntu 12.04: I have a Intel GM965 integrated video card and SVGA out is not working. It does work with 10.04, all subsequent versions it no longer works. The TV is detected, I can see the screen flicker while it is being detected, and I can move the mouse to it, but the TV screen is black. stefan@stefan-Extensa-5220:~$ lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 Memory Controller Hub (rev 03) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary) (rev 03) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (secondary) (rev 03) 00:1a.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 03) 00:1a.1 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 (rev 03) 00:1a.7 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 03) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 2 (rev 03) 00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 3 (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1d.1 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 03) 00:1d.2 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 03) 00:1d.7 USB controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 (rev 03) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev f3) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801HM (ICH8M) LPC Interface Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801HM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) IDE Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801HM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) SATA Controller [IDE mode] (rev 03) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 03) 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetLink BCM5787M Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 02) 04:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev 01) 0f:06.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Cardbus Controller 0f:06.1 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments PCIxx12 OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller 0f:06.2 Mass storage controller: Texas Instruments 5-in-1 Multimedia Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO/xD) 0f:06.3 SD Host controller: Texas Instruments PCIxx12 SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller stefan@stefan-Extensa-5220:~$ xrandr Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 2080 x 800, maximum 8192 x 8192 LVDS1 connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 331mm x 207mm 1280x800 60.0*+ 1024x768 60.0 800x600 60.3 56.2 640x480 59.9 VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) TV1 connected 800x600+1280+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm 848x480 30.0 + 640x480 30.0 + 1024x768 30.0 800x600 30.0* Stefan -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/137234 Title: [i945] Second display not enabled with "intel" video driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/137234/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I have a very similar problem with my nvidia G94 (GeForce 9600 GT), only differing in the HDMI issue - xrandr correctly detects the two DVIs. Out of curiosity, does this happen for you with the live CD? In my case a daily image of precise works fine, but both oneiric and precise exhibit the problem once installed. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 726902] Re: [i945gm] Loss of vsync when using Metacity.
Well, I also have the problem in Oneiric. It really drives me nut. I tried every combination of xorg.conf settings but could not get a setting with good results. I'm using no window manager at all! I use the User Defined Session option from lightdm and start XBMC from there. Without xorg.conf I have no tearing (because SwapBuffersWait is the drivers default) but an irregular frame rate. Probably because XBMC cannot sync on the retrace in that configuration. When I add Option "SwapbuffersWait" "false" to an /etc/X11/xorg.conf and enable VSync in XBMC I get regular frame rates when watching video but always with tearing. The VSync Intel driver machinery on at least the Intel 945GM (first generation MiniMac) is really screwed up. I'm using an HDMI display, I cannot remember having seen this issue when using analog VGA output. XBMC on the same box using Windows-7 works fine, so it is not a hardware limitation. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/726902 Title: [i945gm] Loss of vsync when using Metacity. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 838659] Re: [Inspiron M4110] can't output to external monitor via VGA
Tim, was the original bug _after_ configuring the driver to use the external monitor (with amdcccle), or do you get the error when first plugging in the vga? Asking because the driver does not support output hotplug, so you need to configure the driver first, and now other people say that amdcccle crashes when trying to save the configfile (which, strictly speaking, is a different bug). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/838659 Title: [Inspiron M4110] can't output to external monitor via VGA To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/838659/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Ok. This 5 min later I figure out the problem ( at least for me ) open gedit as root: gksu gedit. go and open:: /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf. at this line:: blacklist nouveau. save the file, and open /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-graphics-drivers.conf. at the following and then save the file blacklist nouveau blacklist lbm-nouveau blacklist nvidia-173 blacklist nvidia-96 alias nvidia nvidia-current Run the following as root sudo nvidia-xconfig, sudo apt-get remove xserver-xorg-video-nouveau, sudo shutdown -r now. when you rester the computer probaply it will not work a pop-up windows say some options, select from the window X - Restart end hit Enter!!!
