[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 907381] Re: Display resolution keeps switching with external monitor connected
Couple of further bits of info. I've ruled out connector issues by trying the same monitor with HDMIDVI rather than VGA output, same issue. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 929408] [NEW] X does not send multitouch touch end events properly
Public bug reported: A test app that demostrates this bug can be downloaded from here: lp:~jpakkane/+junk/touchpad-tester. My setup is that I have a Magic Trackpad and a Macbook Pro multitouch trackpad. The test app prints out this: Using device id 2, Virtual core pointer. Potential device id 11, bcm5974. Potential device id 13, Apple Wireless Trackpad. If I use device ids 11 or 13, stuff works. Device id 2 leads to problems, though. I put down five fingers on one touchpad and then five on the other. Then I lift all fingers up simultaneously. The end result is that I only receive TouchEnds for roughly half of the touches. The others keep on existing. Possible reasons for this bug include X not sending touch end events or X sending touch end events with a different device id than touch start events. Tests were run using precise. ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/929408 Title: X does not send multitouch touch end events properly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/929408/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 929410] [NEW] X sends touch events with wrong device id
Public bug reported: A test app for this bug can be downloaded from lp:~jpakkane/+junk /touchpad-tester When tested with a Magic Trackpad and a Lenovo (?) trackpad, the latter does not show up in the device listing that touchpadtester prints. However touching the pad does cause touch events, but the X server claims they originate from the Magic Trackpad. I went as far back as Lucid and the problem still persists, so at least it doesn't appear to be a regression. Oops, sorry, you're right about the hotkey, I'm repeating the test with xrandr this time. I'm running the same experimental kernel: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-intel-next- proposed/current/linux- image-2.6.39-994-generic_2.6.39-994.201104200727_amd64.deb On booting I see the following references to the GMBUS timed out, falling back to bit banging message: [ 14.327182] [drm] GMBUS timed out, falling back to bit banging on pin 3 [i915 gmbus panel] [ 15.375376] [drm] GMBUS timed out, falling back to bit banging on pin 4 [i915 gmbus dpc] I then tailed both /var/log/syslog and /var/log/Xorg.0.log, then plugged in the external display (no key presses, no xrandr yet). Here's what happens right when I plug it in (you're right, the GMBUS message appears right when I plug the external display): == /var/log/syslog == Apr 27 15:14:49 201002-5345 kernel: [ 530.567145] [drm] GMBUS timed out, falling back to bit banging on pin 2 [i915 gmbus vga] == /var/log/Xorg.0.log == [ 531.748] (II) intel(0): Allocated new frame buffer 3072x1050 stride 12288, tiled I produced a dmesg file with this experimental kernel and the xdiagnose settings as described on #6. I do see some events when plugging in the external display and also when running xrandr --auto: - Plugged in the external at [ 96.419325] - xrandr --auto at [ 198.077408] I'm attaching this new dmesg file as it might provide some information. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 929384] [NEW] nvidia drivers broken by the recent libc update
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Automatically reported crash while logging in after boot, running Precise beta with continuous updates. Login was also very slow, and Unity doesn't seem to have appeared: there is no launcher panel or menu bar, non-maximized windows have their menus inside the window, and maximized windows have their menu bar at the top but without Ubuntu logo on the left. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745112] Re: [arrandale] desktop is messed up with external monitors (x86_64)
Hi Martin, Thanks for all the extra testing and feedback. I'd been looking at bug 912387 (fdo bug 44881) in parallel. The patch to fix bug 912387 appears to provide a fix for the issue you are seeing here. I've therefore cherry-pick'ed the patch in question from the drm-intel-fixes branch into Precise prior to the patch officially hitting the mainline kernel. So this issue should be resolved in Precise after the next upload (which I intend to do before the end of the week). I see that the patch has also been CC'd to upstream stable. Once the patch does land in mainline, it'll then propagate through to the upstream stable releases. This means that it should land in Oneiric automatically through our normal SRU process and not require any further action on our part. Thanks. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Precise) Status: Triaged = Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745112 Title: [arrandale] desktop is messed up with external monitors (x86_64) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/745112/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I've been running Oneiric since December use it as primary workstation weekdays, two NVidia cards driving three screens and I haven't had the stuck mouse issue. (Though I had applied the PPA version on my previous workstation so the problem has been a distant memory for me for quite a while...) I'll try to re-configure Synergy this weekend, Synergy was the program that seemed to hang my system the most. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 875236] Re: (EE) intel(0): Couldn't create pixmap for fbcon
The error message (EE) intel(0): Couldn't create pixmap for fbcon is probably harmless; it just means when X was restarted from the display manager it wasn't able to do the seamless transition. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 929655] Re: Unity randomly freezes after 11.10 upgrade
There are errors about invalid framebuffers: Xorg.0.log: (EE) intel(0): Couldn't create pixmap for fbcon dmesg: [11678.477663] init: tty1 main process ended, respawning [11680.331193] [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid framebuffer id However these are not likely to be the cause of your issue. Given that killing compiz restores the system to functionality, this tends to suggest a bug in compiz, unity, or one of the compiz plugins. Reproduce the bug and capture your ~/.xsession-errors while the system is frozen, and attach that here. Hopefully the tail end of that will contain a pertinent error message. You may also want to review what compiz plugins you have enabled or any compiz settings you may have made. Or, try logging into a guest session and see if the error reproduces there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/929655 Title: Unity randomly freezes after 11.10 upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/929655/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 929384] Re: nvidia drivers broken by the recent libc update on i386 arch
Jeroen, to clarify, you may not think you are using nvidia, but the bug report captured a crash that appears to happen in nvidia's GL code: Thread 1 (LWP 2423): #0 0xb761f216 in ?? () from /usr/lib/nvidia-current/libGL.so.1 Your X logs just show -vesa loaded, which doesn't tell us much. I think to work around the issue, you should do an apt-get purge of the nvidia files (you can leave nvidia-common installed, it's harmless.) [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 783993] Re: unity freezing periodicly [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid framebuffer id
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.3 kernel[1] (Not a kernel in the daily directory). Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag(Only that one tag, please leave the other tags). This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. If this bug is fixed by the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream-KERNEL-VERSION'. For example, if kernel version 3.3-rc2 fixed the issue, the tag would be: 'kernel-fixed- upstream-v3.3-rc2'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 929384] Re: nvidia drivers broken by the recent libc update on i386 arch
according to the comments on the eglibc patch from one of the upstream authors, this is a workaround for what's really a bug in the nvidia driver. I don't know if we want to keep the nvidia-graphics-drivers task open, but that's certainly not anything foundations can fix, so unassigning from us. ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Assignee: Canonical Foundations Team (canonical-foundations) = (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/929384 Title: nvidia drivers broken by the recent libc update on i386 arch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eglibc/+bug/929384/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 6270] Re: [i855] no support for TV-Out on 8xx chipsets
Not everyone with these chipsets would be affected, because not everyone with these chipsets has a DVO card. Personally, I've been wanting to get my hands on such a card for several years, but I've never been able to find one. Whoops, accidentally read the first post in this thread as the last, and responded accordingly. My bad.
