[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 968845] Re: bcm5974 touchpad doesn't work after S3
Confirmed on 11 Macbook Air after Beta 2 update a few hours ago. Tried it several times, inspecting xsession-errors each time. Frequently I received GRAIL WARNING (v3/slice.cpp:GetValues:230): failed to get touch from frame messages as described in Seth's xsession-errors. On certain occassions, the touchpad would partially function after resume (i.e. able to move the cursor, but only while depressing the mousepad). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 944626] Re: Xorg segfault - xdiagnose output
Bryce - I've had several more crashes. They're happening on a daily basis - sometimes two or three times a day. I'm thinking about giving up on Ubuntu and trying something else. I read the link you posted, but there's a problem: in the gdb instructions it states, Now do what you need to make the X server crash but as these crashes are so random I cannot do that. Unless I'm reading things wrongly? Also, /etc/X11/core does not exist - would the core dump be somewhere else? How do I find the core dump? - and there is nothing in var/crash after these crashes. I'd really appreciate some help with understanding the instructions where it states Another problem can be that the default maximum size of core files has been set to 0. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 969082] [NEW] Pressing Scroll Lock doesn't toggle its keyboard LED within X
Public bug reported: The problem: The Scroll Lock key doesn't seem to be properly supported and its LED doesn't toggle within X. As a concrete example, press Ctrl-Alt-F2 to get into tty2, login and then type top. Pressing Scroll Lock will pause the task list, and pressing it again will reënable dynamic updates with the LED responding accordingly. As an another example dir -Rl can be used and this is also true for extracting a big tarball, compiling something etc. I would expect the same useful behaviour from within GNOME Terminal (or any other terminal emulator), but currently it just doesn't work. As the corresponding LED isn't toggled I can't figure if this limitation comes from X or from the terminal emulator but getting the same result with konsole, LXTerminal and xterm as well makes me think that our suspect is X. On the other hand mapping an application launch to Scroll Lock does work, but then there's the LED which isn't toggled, these reports about keyboards whose back-light doesn't work because they rely on this key (bug 886677 bug 912044) and this terminal issue, so something is not right. Expected results: The Scroll Lock key should be supported like any other key of a standard keyboard and pressing it should toggle the corresponding LED – as Windows does :P PS: Please note that attached data may show that I have two mice, this is not a mistake and apport didn't go postal. I've got one on a USB port and another one on PS/2, simply because I'm too lazy to crawl under the desk, move the tower and fight with the cable spaghetti to remove the unnecessary mouse. There's also two connected keyboards, one on USB and the other one on PS/2 with different language layouts, and as the Scroll Lock LED is currently not used by GNOME I assigned it to be lit when I use the alternate layout. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 969289] [NEW] Unity 3D not working
Public bug reported: I had posted a similar bug, which was then moved to another bug report (963465), however, I don't think they are the same. Previously when I would boot my laptop, I would be able to only see a desktop background, no icons, etc. I could boot into recovery mode, which would then boot me into 2D just fine. Now when I boot normally (I just updated my packages after receiving and email that previous bug fix was released. Now when I boot into my system since applying the most recent updates via package manager, I boot into 3D, I can see the desktop wallpaper, my icons, and authenticate my keyring. After this I receive an error message that there is no system tray, exiting, and my system just sits there. I can not get the launcher to appear etc. In a nutshell, it appears I can boot into 3D, just not do anything. Thank you ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: xorg 1:7.6+12ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-20.33-generic 3.2.12 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-20-generic i686 .tmp.unity.support.test.1: ApportVersion: 2.0-0ubuntu1 Architecture: i386 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: None Date: Fri Mar 30 07:46:46 2012 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: precise DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, whatever it takes to get this fixed in Ubuntu InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release i386 (20111012) MachineType: Dell Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 969154] [NEW] Unable to set 1920x1080 resolution in Ubuntu 12.04 Beta2 as a VMWare Workstation 8 guest
You have been subscribed to a public bug: My host system is Win7 64bit. My notebook has 1920x1080 native resolutions. I’m running VMWare Workstation 8 for desktop virtualization. Today I’ve installed Ubuntu 12.04 Beta2 as a guest. I was unable to set 1920x1080 resolution on the guest side. The gnome- control-center display command offered me a lot of other resolutions, but 1920x1080. I’ve also installed the vmware-tools, because I assumed the absence of that tool is the problem. However I’ve had to realize the problem still exist after a successful vmware-tools installation. (Yep, I did a reboot after the installation.) I have to say my Ubuntu 11.10 works like a charm, so for that version the 1920x1080 not a problem at all. If you need more information to fix this problem, I’m glade to help you. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 968169] Re: Xorg segmentatoin fault and logs me out
This seems to be related to the ppa package touchpad-indicator that I installed. After removing this package, this X-segmentation-fault problem disappeared. I found that I can use Fn+F8 to enable/disable touchpad in my Thinkpad X220, and don't need that package anyway. I think this bug can be closed. ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New = Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/968169 Title: Xorg segmentatoin fault and logs me out To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/968169/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 969495] [NEW] evdev stopped remapping events
Public bug reported: Since part of the lirc code made it into the kernel most Remote Controls show up as /dev/input/ devices. The remote controls have some strange buttons and evdev has a remap function that allows us to remap those events to events that X understands. This use to work prior to the load bug (Bug 931397) with the following config: Section InputDevice Identifier RF remote Driver evdev Option Device /dev/input/dvb-ir Option event_key_remap 28=36 398=27 401=25 352=36 167=27 174=9 139=58 119=33 EndSection In my case /dev/input/dvb-ir is a symlink to /dev/input/event5. The symlink is managed by udev. This method is also suggested by people with multi-multi button mice. Hi Thank you fore the feed back on this buck. I try to contribute to Linux as much as i can but i am not a computer expert. This bug come up when i wash assembling a computer from old hardware. Did not pay a lot of attention to whey it hang. The computer that i made from the old parts does not function they i should. The first trouble shooting i what to do is to exclude my self from the problem. It is possible that i did do something wrong. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 366270] Re: [i945] [Xubuntu] wrong screen resolution after upgrade to Jaunty
Having the exact same issue using 12.04 LTS. Curiously enough it worked as expected for a little while (putting off the lvds and proper resolution on vga) but, perhaps due to an update, it now by default clone the lvds and force both screens to be 1024x768 (wich is probably the only compatible resolution between laptop 22 lcd connected on vga. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/366270 Title: [i945] [Xubuntu] wrong screen resolution after upgrade to Jaunty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/366270/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
