[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 976166] [NEW] Jockey does not detect my old NVIDIA graphics card
You have been subscribed to a public bug: On a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04, Jockey does not detect my very old NVIDIA grapics card. I also do not know how to find out which card it is since Ubuntu does not display it. It is roughly 8 years old. Note that this is a regression from older versions. In 11.04 everything still worked fine using the proprietary NVIDIA driver. I'd be glad to help out with this bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 897131] Re: some mouse events are lost
@Mrinal thanks very much for that info. I was sure that the middle button behaviour, at least, was a matter of policy, but I obviously did not come up with the right set of keywords to find the above page. As for the chording events, I can only hope that they were a symptom of the same issue - it's not something I could always reproduce, so we'll see if it now works consistently. This is definitely something that should be part of the GUI configuration options. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/897131 Title: some mouse events are lost To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/897131/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 979664] [NEW] 12.04 beta2 - nothing displayed on NVIDIA Quadro 1000M
Public bug reported: Hi Ubuntu Team, I've tried to test the 12.04 beta2 64bit (http://mirror.switch.ch/ftp/mirror/ubuntu- cdimage//precise/ubuntu-12.04-beta2-desktop-amd64.iso) on my HP 8560w laptop equipped with NVIDIA Quadro 1000M graphic card. The boot menu is displayed properly, but afterwards (regardless whether install or only testing is selceted) there's nothing displayed on the screen during the whole boot sequence or afterwards. This means I do not have access to the system at all, so cannot collect any logs. I've tried to manually set different vga boot options, like 800x600, 1024x768 or even 1920x1080, in the best case I got some garbage presented on the screen instead of the blank screen. Please look into this issue, since I'm using the old 10.4 LTS release I was pretty much looking forward for the new LTS. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 974041] Re: KWin option of auto-suspending for fullscreen windows often causes X to crash in libdrm_intel
I have eventually found a way to obtain detailed debug info when X server crashing. I am executing the following command from a text console: sudo gdb -p $(pidof X) -batch -ex 'handle all nostop' -ex 'handle all pass' -ex 'handle 11 stop' -ex 'cont' -ex 'bt full' -ex 'cont' ~/Xcrash.txt Then I return back to the graphical session and try to trigger the crash. I have collected already a few of such backtraces, and I am a bit surprised that apparently they ALL are VERY different. In general, it seems as if KWin erases some important stuff that is further dereferenced in libdrm functions, and it is rather random which function will trigger the crash. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libdrm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/974041 Title: KWin option of auto-suspending for fullscreen windows often causes X to crash in libdrm_intel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdrm/+bug/974041/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 979748] [NEW] Laptop with Intel Graphics: external VGA monitor only gets signal on boot (no “hot plugging”)
Public bug reported: I am able to get an external VGA monitor (or projector) to work if I start my laptop with it connected. However, if I start the laptop with it disconnected there is no signal on the external. The Displays screen shows the external, and thinks that it is active, but there is no signal being sent to it. This has been a persistent problem since 10.04 (I am now on 12.04 each upgrade hoping something is improved). I should note that even when it works (starting with display connected), Displays still says the monitor is unknown (but it sends the signal). For the correct resolution to display, I have had to add a few xrandr lines for my monitor to my .xprofile file... otherwise resolution is limited to default 1024x768. So, resolution issues can be worked around, but the main issue is that the external doesn't get a signal without starting the machine with it connected. I have tried: adding i915.modeset=1 to grub (also i965.modeset=1 since someone posted that this helped even though lshw shows i915) adding following ppa and doing a dist-upgrade: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa (I have since done a ppa-purge on this ppa so all packages have been reverted) Here are the details: Laptop: Toshiba Tecra M10 lspci listings for video: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a42] (rev 07) sudo lshw -C video listing: *-display:0 description: VGA compatible controller product: Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 2 bus info: pci@:00:02.0 version: 07 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=i915 latency=0 resources: irq:46 memory:ff40-ff7f memory:e000-efff ioport:cff8(size=8) *-display:1 UNCLAIMED description: Display controller product: Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 2.1 bus info: pci@:00:02.1 version: 07 width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm bus_master cap_list configuration: latency=0 resources: memory:ffc0-ffcf System Info shows my graphics as the following Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset x86/MMX/SSE2 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: xorg 1:7.6+12ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-23.36-generic-pae 3.2.14 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-23-generic-pae i686 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu2 Architecture: i386 CompizPlugins: [core, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, vpswitch, snap, mousepoll, resize, place, move, wall, grid, regex, imgpng, session, gnomecompat, animation, fade, unitymtgrabhandles, workarounds, scale, expo, ezoom, unityshell] CompositorRunning: compiz Date: Thu Apr 12 13:08:21 2012 DistUpgraded: 2012-04-02 03:21:05,114 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistroCodename: precise DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: virtualbox, 4.1.12, 3.2.0-22-generic-pae, i686: installed virtualbox, 4.1.12, 3.2.0-23-generic, i686: installed virtualbox, 4.1.12, 3.2.0-23-generic-pae, i686: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, whatever it takes to get this fixed in Ubuntu GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a42] (rev 07) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Toshiba America Info Systems Device [1179:0009] Subsystem: Toshiba America Info Systems Device [1179:0009] InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release i386 (20111012) MachineType: TOSHIBA TECRA M10 PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-23-generic-pae root=UUID=969ec06a-f27d-41db-818a-b9a23fe0009f ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-04-02 (10 days ago) dmi.bios.date: 09/08/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: TOSHIBA dmi.bios.version: Version 3.00 dmi.board.asset.tag: 00 dmi.board.name: Portable PC dmi.board.vendor: TOSHIBA dmi.board.version: Version A0 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: 00 dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: TOSHIBA dmi.chassis.version: Version 1.0 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnTOSHIBA:bvrVersion3.00:bd09/08/2009:svnTOSHIBA:pnTECRAM10:pvrPTMB1U-02L01H:rvnTOSHIBA:rnPortablePC:rvrVersionA0:cvnTOSHIBA:ct10:cvrVersion1.0: dmi.product.name: TECRA M10 dmi.product.version: PTMB1U-02L01H dmi.sys.vendor: TOSHIBA version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.7.4-0ubuntu3 version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.32-1ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 8.0.2-0ubuntu3 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 8.0.2-0ubuntu3 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.11.4-0ubuntu10 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.7.0-0ubuntu1

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 890928] Re: When trying to install libxkbfile1:i386 the pkg manager asks to remove too many important packages
The attachment libxkbfile_1.0.7-1ubuntu1.1.debdiff of this bug report has been identified as being a patch in the form of a debdiff. The ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that they can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. In the event that this is in fact not a patch you can resolve this situation by removing the tag 'patch' from the bug report and editing the attachment so that it is not flagged as a patch. Additionally, if you are member of the ubuntu- sponsors team please also unsubscribe the team from this bug report. [This is an automated message performed by a Launchpad user owned by Brian Murray. Please contact him regarding any issues with the action taken in this bug report.] ** Tags added: patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libxkbfile in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/890928 Title: When trying to install libxkbfile1:i386 the pkg manager asks to remove too many important packages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libxkbfile/+bug/890928/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Erm... fixed by removing nvidia-current and reinstalling while running PAE kernel. What I did in more detail: Remove nvidia-current while running non-PAE kernel. Restart with PAE kernel. Log in without X. Delete xorg.conf. Start gdm and login. Reinstall nvidia-current. Restart with PAE kernel. Works.
